At least I don't have to buy the same app twice to get it working on my Nexus 4 and my Nexus 7. Also you better hope that the developers support it because if they don't make a tablet version or update it to the newer "retina display" resolution you're screwed. Android is flexible and that is why I was saying it's important to note that it's the Linux of smartphones. Got a 10 year old piece of shit Windows tablet? It will run. Got a brand new quad core smart phone? It will run smoothly. I know the screen size is subjective but a smaller screen and a dual-core and less memory should make the iPhone cheaper than lets say the Galaxy S3 or the HTC One X+? It's more expensive than all of those. I'm not going to bring up the Nexus 4 because that isn't a fair fight. Also I checked out your review, if you still have the Nexus 4, download Francisco Franco's (maker of the kernel) Nexus 4 color calibrator. Requires root but it makes quite the difference, I am getting the same colors I get from the iPad 3 and it is pretty damn close to my Dell UltraSharp IPS monitor.
iPhone 5 is £529 and it's just been released, Galaxy S3 was the same on release. Also just because it's Dual Core doesn't mean anything, it's A15 making it the most up to date SoC in a mobile phone at the moment. And you say about the colour calibration but the end user shouldn't have to do this, you should have a good stock experience out of the box! Anyway this is just degrading into a silly little debate that isn't even on topic, just take it to the Android thread or w/e.
The colors being over saturated impair your usage of the phone? I agree they should have calibrated the display better but it's really not that big of a deal and if it is, you have a 99% probability of being the "enthusiast"user and enthusiasts generally hack their phones. Also it took me literally 30 seconds to fix the screen, applies on boot. Never have to do it again. [editline]15th December 2012[/editline]
I think you're a fanboy because you keep insulting other phones. Smaller screen isn't a disadvantage. Software with less features? Name me one feature that iOS is missing which isn't the ability to tinker with it. Fragmented applications? I'd much rather use an app with a border around it than an app that still uses the ugly UI Android used before ICS. LTE drains battery life on the iPhone? Strange, it still seems to get more battery life than every damn Android phone. Dozens of features Android 4.2 has? Again, name me one that isn't tinkering with the device. Processor that is faster than every phone on the market? What's the point of having one if the OS still manages to lag? [editline]16th December 2012[/editline] See, that's why people buy iPhones. They don't need to root anything, it all works fine from the start.
With a little tweaking, I am getting 10 hours of screen on battery life. For a 4.7 inch IPS display, that's pretty damn good.

Android is the Linux of smartphones. Android is based on the Linux kernel, that's about where the similarities with Linux end. You can install it on many things, but unless you want to re-write half of it, it probably won't run well. Why should it be cheaper? It's a flagship smartphone sold at a price flagship smartphones are usually sold at. Less memory? As in RAM? Same 1GB both SGS3 and HOX+ have [editline]16th December 2012[/editline]
The colors being over saturated impair your usage of the phone? Depends on what kind of enthusiast they are. If they are into hacking, then yes, they hack their phone, and they probably don't buy an iPhone because it's not a hacker phone. If you're into music? Mobies? Photography? Hell, pretty much anything else, the probability of hacking the phone is zero.

While i agree that the price is pretty crap, you get a very well built phone that can take some beating, has a FUCKTON of accessories, a FUCKTON of apps where you won't have to worry about stability or incompatabilities, parts are cheap as chips and are easily found. All in all, it lasts longer than android phones. which sort of justifies the price Also I checked out your review, if you still have the Nexus 4, download Francisco Franco's (maker of the kernel) Nexus 4 color calibrator. Personally i would go for an iPhone. Why? because i don't want to dick about with emulators or overclock it, i just want a stable phone with a good amount of apps, an abundance of cheap parts and no faffing about. If i wanted to play with emulators and that sort of stuff, that's what my desktop is for
So let me get this straight: The iPhone 5 is to the iphone 4 what CoD MW3 was to MW2. Makes sense
PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO TWEAK ANYTHING, THEY WANT SHIT TO WORK RIGHT FROM THE START, AND THAT'S WHY THEY BUY iPHONES
Okay well I doubt the average consumer gives a fuck about the color accuracy of the screen. Most people would just say "close enough" or "that looks really bright and nice". Just like most people would listen to 128kbps MP3s and say good enough while the enthusiast hordes FLAC files.
When my father smashed his old Droid, we went to the shop to buy a new one. iPhone 5 was on display. He looked at it, decided that it looks completely like shit instantly and when he saw the pricetag, oh my o my, he ran to the other corner of the store and looked at Samsung Galaxy series again. ended up buying the same phone he had before.
and also use setcpu to force your cpu to downclock to 386mhz whenever the screen is off
JD can do that afaik.
Don't you think that's a little inappropriate for a public post?
-it was a joke after all-
I don't think asking for evidence from somebody who makes a seemingly wild claim is inappropriate.
Did you really not get my joke? :v:
Did you really not get my joke? :v:
I considered the possibility of it being a joke, but I thought you were possibly referring to my post which was me just demanding he post some evidence for once.

Is it calibrated perfectly? Like 100% spot on? Probably not but from what I see, it matches the iPad 3 and my 27 inch IPS monitor so it looks pretty damn good. Get an app where I can export these measurements and I'll be sure to post them. Also, the average consumer doesn't bitch about the screen not being spot on. They buy the phone as they see it in the store. If it's lucky enough to get updated from 4.1 to 4.2 and make some changes, that's cool but for the most part people are happy.
I feel Apple has died somewhat since Steve Jobs passed and his Bodhisattva ways simply aren't showing in the products anymore.
I can't remember Facepunch liking Steve Jobs this much before he died.
I can't remember Facepunch liking Steve Jobs this much before he died.
Well now it's evident that he's pretty much the primary reason Apple came out of the gutter. Though we can argue day and night if his methods to-do so were dirty or not. I personally lean towards the former.
The iPhone 4 is cheaper than what the iPhone 5 will be. Why pay more for the same thing right?
The iPhone 4 is cheaper than what the iPhone 5 will be. Why pay more for the same thing right?
Because its not the same thing.
