Why are you explaining things that we both agree on to me?
Shh, just think of the chimeras. The data that could be garnered from individuals who have been pregnant that often
Seriously. Women have cells throughout their bodies from their pregnacies. Making them scientifically chimeras. They're made of different people, isn't that neat?
I'm agreeing with you brotha, adoption is not the answer.
i thought you meant you voted me dumb because i was wrong lol
Not having sex is taking a life that could've been. Using a condom is taking a life that could've been. So what?
That's different. With an abortion someone was actively involved in sexual intercourse. If they were stupid and didn't use protection then they should life with that decision. I would look the other way for people who had bad luck i.e broken condom, getting raped.
Why are you explaining things that we both agree on to me?
You sounded like you were being sarcastic.
you cannot disprove that a fetus feels pain because we don't really have any objective way to measure pain at the moment, you also cannot prove that a fetus is conscious at the argued stages because we don't have any real objective way to determine consciousness either
this is the fundimental flaw in the way (at least in the U.S.) we deal with abortion law, people are more than willing to listen to what they are told is science instead of looking at the facts themselves
Uhm, Nobody uses abortions as birth control, because it's expensive and a really fucking complicated procedure.
Mostly. I agree with you statistically, with the slight caveat that I've seen crazy do/rely on it in person.

Where do you draw the line? my girlfriend had her IUD fail on her and she had to get an abortion, in your world would i be a dad today?

We do have the ability to know that you can't feel pain without a neocortex and you can't be conscious with only a brain stem.
Where do you draw the line? my girlfriend had her IUD fail on her and she had to get an abortion, in your world would i be a dad today?
Rape is where I draw the line actually, what I said before is wrong. If you have sex and are not prepared for the chance of a kid than you are selfish.

So it's punishment? How does that make sense?
Uhm, Nobody uses abortions as birth control, because it's expensive and a really fucking complicated procedure.
Not to mention dangerous, you can die from complications just like child birth.

you just contradicted yourself. you said you'd look the other way for people who had bad luck.

So somebody not knowing that their anti-biotics cause their bc pill to not work is selfish?
If they were stupid and didn't use protection then they should life with that decision.
your point of view sounds like it's half about punishing people
Uhm, Nobody uses abortions as birth control, because it's expensive and a really fucking complicated procedure.
Explain this then.
http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/ss6208a1.htm?s_cid=ss6208a1_w#tab19
Many people have more than 3 abortions, and if you are stupid enough to continually get unwantedly pregnant, you must either be completely retarded, or using abortion as a sort of birth control.
you just contradicted yourself. you said you'd look the other way for people who had bad luck.
I actually said what I said before was wrong if you could read.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this doesn't specify whether this was 3 abortions in a year or 3 abortions over the course of something like ten years
I actually said what I said before was wrong if you could read.
no you just backpedaled. you can't just change your mind half way through an argument and change what you believe because it fits your argument better.
"yeah that thing i said 5 mins ago, don't believe it anymore"

it's not per year, it looks like lifetime.

This is how most Professors act, in Poland at least.
Usually it's old dudes who are certain that their methods are better than the newer, modern, actually used ones.

I didnt backpedal. And yes I can change my mind. Who are you to say I cant?

Someone arguing with you.
[editline]16th March 2014[/editline]
If you change your opinions in the span of five minutes, you must not be very committed to them.
Rape is where I draw the line actually, what I said before is wrong. If you have sex and are not prepared for the chance of a kid than you are selfish.
Wait, so your solution to the problem is to remove it completely from the equation? No sex at all between couples unless they're totally willing to have a kid?
Not only is that a great way to kill relationships (it's a pretty big deal, at least in today's society), but has been proven by your own society to not work.
Precisely the problem of abortion and unwanted pregnancies occurs because of bad luck OR bad sex education, like refraining to do it at all.
Someone arguing with you.

Yeah and? I changed my stance after I made one post about it. I wasn't arguing that statement the whole time.

If you're uncertain about your opinions you should probably stop arguing and start listening.

• Nearly half of all abortions worldwide are unsafe, and nearly all unsafe abortions (98%) occur in developing countries. In the developing world, 56% of all abortions are unsafe, compared with just 6% in the developed world. [1]
• The proportion of abortions worldwide that take place in the developing world increased between 1995 and 2008 from 78% to 86%, in part because the proportion of all women who live in the developing world increased during this period. [1]
• The overall abortion rate in Africa, where the vast majority of abortions are illegal and unsafe, showed no decline between 2003 and 2008, holding at 29 abortions per 1,000 women of childbearing age. [1]

I dont want to ban abortion. I just don't approve of it.
I feel like a lot of the arguments could be summed up with:
