Nolan's favourite sequence from his films? Crashing that plane with no survivors

The one thing that stood out to me was the pumping of the scientist's blood into the other guy. It was so baffling when I first saw that in theaters that I had thought I missed something. It was so goofy and unnecessary, why did they 1. care if the US government knew the scientist was kidnapped and 2. thing that a few pumps of blood into another corpse would fool forensics? As if the bullet riddled hull or the fact that the plane's wings fell off hundred of yards behind the rest of the plane wouldn't tip them off. Totally confusing and unnecessary.
Wait, people were actually confused by the dialogue in that scene?
It was painfully obvious to me at least, from the first time I heard it:
“If I pull that [mask] off, will you die?”
Bane: “It would be extremely painful…”
CIA agent: “You’re a big guy.”
Bane: “…for you.”
that Bane was replying to his own cutoff last line, did people really not get that?

1) They wanted the only scientist in the world who could weaponize a nuclear power plant to be assumed dead. The fear of such a thing wouldn't be there if the only guy who could do that, was dead.
2) I don't understand why Nolan, or anyone, thought just a few seconds of blood would fool any forensic test
as for the aerodynamics of that situation, I actually have no clue how that would work.
[QUOTE=Marden;47571947]I actually find hilarious the theory that baneposting caused the recent plane crash. (The theory, not the actual crash just to make it clear.)[/QUOTE]
It's actually so odd [URL]http://i.imgur.com/C5iktuC.png[/URL] Picture is huge so I don't wanna image tag it
Weirdest goddamn coincidences
[QUOTE=Butthurter;47572096]ah yes the movie with an abundant of lines not as world renowned as the prologue but equally deserving of attention
"the clean slate? you mean that software that helps wipe out everything off the record for a particular person? sounds too good to be true right?"
"you came back to die with your city.." "no, i came back to stop you"
"i could not forgive my father for what he had done, until you murdered him"[/QUOTE]
someone get this hothead outta here
[QUOTE=Emperor Scorpious II;47572024]The scene was almost entirely useless to the overall plot. All it achieved was [sp]having Bane capture the scientist[/sp] which probably didn't even really require a scene at all.[/QUOTE]
Well it introduces the kind of character Bane is, ruthless, strong, a mastermind.
Why don't any of the CIA operatives on the plane shoot Dr. Pavel when he's being grabbed? They all had their sidearms with them.

Why would they shoot their target for capture? he wasn't an enemy agent, he was a captured scientist, not really someone you kill.
[QUOTE=Killuah;47571966]Best Nolan movie is still The Following and you should watch it.[/QUOTE]
That's a weird way to spell "The Prestige."
Granted, I haven't seen Following. But of the Nolan films I have seen, I consider Prestige to be my favorite.
Unlike most Nolan films (or films in general), its twist genuinely caught me by surprise.
[QUOTE=Butthurter;47572180]the very first scene we find bane topless in a sewer that pretty much worked fine enough as an introduction considering the unnecessary slow close up against his back, and the level of fear and respect his mercs had for him
makes you really wonder if the prologue was just tacked on for marketing since it has no real impact/context for the rest of the movie just to establish the scientist that [B]wasnt even necessary for the plot[/B][/QUOTE]
Did we watch the same film?
You mean, the scientist who sets up the pivotal plot arc of "A nuke is going to blow up gotham" isn't pivotal to the plot at all? The scene where they figure out only one person in the whole world can disarm the bomb is dead, isn't pivotal?
I get that the movie had problems, but fuck you people are creating non existent problems.

If you couldn't already tell, a lot of this is just hyperbole for the sake of fun. There are a few puzzling things like why CIA's men decided to turn around and beat up the incapacitated Bane henchman, and other things brought up. But it's all in jest.
To be fair, I bet that scene was really fun to shoot using practical effects.

Way to make yourself sound like a tool since the actor himself intended to make it sound the other way.
[QUOTE=Butthurter;47572227]i was referring to the messed up pacing when hes brought up for one last time/2nd time in the movie
it isnt pivotal when you couldve just had the character introduced right up at the stadium when bane announces the bomb, thus killing him right then and there when hes not a compelling character to begin with
as it stands we have a scene where the guy badly acts his hesitance to turn a core into a bomb and less than a minute after that he literally goes "there, it is finished, it is now a fully primed bomb"[/QUOTE]
That's a fairly objective assertion of a fairly subjective concept. You said he wasn't plot pivotal, I pointed out how that is in fact pivotal, rather than giving me a second set of reasons you just reinforced the idea that the scientist isn't pivotal. He is. You even rewrite the scene, and he's still in it proving he is pivotal.

[QUOTE=Awesomecaek;47572252]Way to make yourself sound like a tool since the actor himself intended to make it sound the other way.[/QUOTE]
So the actor intended to make it sound like he's a big guy for him to deal with, not that it would be incredibly painful for the CIA guy to take it off of Bane?
Okay, way to call me a tool over nothing because I'm pretty sure my way makes a lot more sense. But okay, insult me bud.
[QUOTE=latin_geek;47572067][URL="http://8ch.net/bane/"]it's memetastic[/URL]
It's got plenty of lines and exploitability, you can make it fit in anywhere and it either feels natural, or forced in an amusing way. The hammy acting is just the cherry on the sundae[/QUOTE]

if this isn't art that deserves preservation once it's finished then i don't know what it is

Oh I know it's in jest I've just seen more than a few people take empty potshots at the film because it's popular to shit on it(Even if for entirely invented reasons)

[QUOTE=Butthurter;47572261]then let me rephrase
he isnt pivotal to the onscreen dynamic[/QUOTE]
Rephrasing that leads you to an entirely different sentence and concept though
[QUOTE=Butthurter;47572282]it doesnt? i pretty much just described what i meant already in my previous post?[/QUOTE]
the pacing being the thing that's "pivotal" in our conversation is probably what threw me off there.
I like to think that Bane answers both questions of CIA, the the part of being painful for CIA and the part that he's a big guy only to CIA, seeing how Ras's daughter is the real deal.

This for me. It was pretty obvious who was talking that I never really found it to be hokey or funny. I like to think that someone on the internet misheard those lines and the meme spread. It's common for people to mishear dialogue, happens a lot in music and TV. Does this make the movie better? Kind of. It's still bad in some moments like whose the real villain, Bale's Batman voice, How Bruce got out of the prison, etc. I still liked it, probably an 8/10 from me.
Best part is when the henchmen starts shooting on the plane from the outside and the soldiers inside starts beating up the cuffed and blindfolded prisoners on the floor.
Bravo Nolan.

Scorched earth, they lost him so they'd kill him to deny Bane any use of him.
this entire film was hilarious
I went into it not knowing the voice he was using for bane and it fucking killed me
it looked all serious at first, then cemented in how goofy Bane was going to sound for the rest of the film

It's for sure his worst film, I'm getting the feeling he didn't really want to make it.
But the studio really needed an ending and a third movie.
