He is, in fact, responsible for the country. Also fema.
The government as a whole is responsible for the country, not just the president.
You can't just say "well i'm just gonna vote for the president, while completely ignoring who's in congress and expect the country to be fine and dandy"
Nigga you trollin
Well, besides that, his job is to influence the country and government decisions.
And if you can't blame the president, who can you blame? Yourself!? Don't be silly.
Thank god for Canada
So which elected official is BOSS
None of them. We don't have a dictator.
That is incredibly dumb.
The President is probably the WEAKEST of our government's elected officials.
He gets the final say in absolutely nothing. Congress and the Court both have the ability to overrule him.
We already know the president is almost a figurehead, If you don't think so you are dumb.
Perfect example, Bush and Dick.

No, if you think the President is anything more than a Federal chief of police, you are dumb.
That is his expressed purpose as documented in the Constitution of the United States of America and the US Code of Federal Regulations.
oh shut up, you kids have it alot easier these days.
There's noting fucking wrong with the quality of teaching or the education, it's the fucking students. .
How do I know this? When I come to a school for a job fair, teaching kids about construction, and periodically go to classrooms to see how it is, do I see kids trying their best to pass school? Working hard? Or even paying attention? No.
They're too busy sleeping, day-dreaming, lost in thought, not paying attention, talking to friends about irrevelant things, and etc. Go ahead, rate me dumb, but you know this is true. Seriously, kids fucking piss me off.
OH DURF HURF, SCHOOL IS SO HARD, NOW IT'S LONGER, BITCH BITCH.
Do you kids realize you have an oppurtinity to get something some kids would die for? Kids in Africa, Somalia, Middle Eastern countries, and etc would do anything to get education, yet you guys are taking this education for granted.
Grow the fuck up and stop bitching.
Too bad schools can't instill a sense of wonder and joy in learning.

You're right. Freemasons run the country.
Well, besides that, his job is to influence the country and government decisions.
Jesus fuck who taught you these things? They need to be violently assaulted.
That is absolutely wrong. The president is FORBIDDEN from influencing legislation and court proceedings. His entire purpose is to command our military and to enforce and uphold the laws that Congress writes and the Supreme Court recognizes.
That is ALL he is allowed to do.

Apparently you don't pay too much attention to US politics.
How about instead of quantity, why not increase the quality?
Same thing I said in the last thread.
Obama is just going to piss off EVERYONE like this. The parents are going to get it hard up the ass, even if they're like "Yay, more time to ourselves!". No, the parents are going to be greeted by pissed off students when they get home.
- Angry kids, pissing off their stupid parents.
- Increase in drop-outs
- Increase in cutting
Etc, etc

You're fueling the fire, you tool. The educational system is SHIT in the majority of the nation because of the teachers and methods of teaching. The majorities of the Teachers get shitty pay (I'd say about $20,000 annually, less than a Policeman.), and the quality of teaching makes it even worse. By extending the school year, you're getting more shit with less chance of a better outcome.

He does attend press conferences and debates as well, so he has a Indirect Influence on the government, not a direct one.

I am a fucking lawyer, buddy.
Have you ever read the US constitution and Federal Code?
I am a fucking lawyer, buddy.
oh if i had a penny for every time i heard you say that...
I am a fucking lawyer, buddy.
Doesn't make you a good one.
i knew he'd pull a dick move, but it is my junior year and having shit like this for senior won't really bother me.
in our school we've got complete idiots, 50 minute classes. just pure shit here, but I'd rather the freshman and sophmore kids suffer because they're the absolute worst. They can't find Vietnam on a map, nor find where Sydney is.
For those such as I who go to school for the purpose of learning and try to soak in information as much as I can, this will help, but those who just hang out all day and don't try in school, this will just waste money and time. I suppose if they did this and eliminated homework, seeing as you would have very little time to do it, the system would be pretty effective and the same amount of time would be spent on school. Most kids I know work a good three hours on homework a night.
Doesn't matter to me. I'm out of the public school system next year. No way he'll do it by then.
He does attend press conferences and debates as well, so he has a Indirect Influence on the government, not a direct one.
That doesn't mean it's his job. He is forbidden from partaking in those sorts of activities. That's why there was such a big stink when it came out that the White House was trying to draft legislation. That is unconstitutional and illegal. The only branch that was given the right to legislate was Congress, that includes all stages of legislation.
Think of it like this: The Executive is the police, the Legislative are the lawmakers.
Would you honestly want the police to be writing the laws? This isn't Judge Dredd. Obama is not the law.

my problem with school is the opposite - after years of easy classes and sitting around idly after finishing a "week's worth" of work in a class period I'm burned out
I'm in my senior year of high school and I've taken a college physics class as well as a high school physics class side-by-side, and let it be known that the college course owns and the high school one blows

No?

We've made a terrible, terrible mistake.
