David Nutt's working on a synthetic alcohol substitute without the hangover

Why does this strike me as the type of story that in fiction typically evolves into a zombie outbreak?
controversial comments he made about cannabis and Ecstasy.
They were more or less true.
This reminds me of synthahol from Star Trek :3
I really doubt it will eventually replace alcohol. That seems rather farfetched, I'm not a big drinker myself, but I'm pretty sure I know quite a few people that love getting hammered.
God,what a nut
I don't get hangovers.
But my parking sucks when I'm drunk
Isn't that just nutty.
Thats the thing though, general European lifestyle doesn't use the same level as preservatives as the North American lifestyle does - not even close. With the exception of dairy (And only dairy, really), most everything you buy in the Supermarket has a best before date between three months and five years, and thats just absurd. Sometimes its partially natural (Campbell's Soup is mostly salt, and salt is a preservative), while others are wholly chemical.
If people simply got out of the habit of buying a month's supply of food in one shot, putting all of it in their huge SUV (The only thing that can fit it all), eventually such a habit might break. But its doubtful.
Why not buy food for a month in advance? It saves gas and saves you time from going to the grocery store and buying the same shit you just bought a couple days ago.
I don't see what could go wrong.
What about an age limit? Could little kids have it? And could you OD on it? or have more to feel more drunk?
I wanna know if you'll still :barf:. That's pretty much the only bad part of heavy drinking other than the next day hangover. Damn, this guy is a genius.
When they where playing around with ergot, they made LSD. And that tore society at it's roots.
I wonder what mr scientist will do this time with it's synthetic drugs.
I can see this being used by the Designated Driver but that's it.
Lol Nutts.
I'd rather just go get smashed.
Really, the only advantage (to me) is the "antidote."
"But no matter how many drinks the consumer has, they should remain only mildly drunk."
That's fucking terrible.
Am I the only one who thinks this is a bit pointless? Whenever I get tipsy I never have a hangover anyway.

Well the antidote wouldn't be, at least if it works nearly instantly.

Why did our government sack him...

He had a different opinion on cannabis to them. They were like hurr hurr hurr ban it ban it ban it, he had evidence proving it was less dangerous than alcohol and cigarettes therefore should remain class C or be legalized
This will never work, he's nutts.
Nutt is my idol.
Isn't GHB same thing as "synthetic substitute for alcohol without hangover" ??
