It probably will if we keep doing stupid crap like this
We're supposed to be getting down in to the single digits here in Alabama in the next few days. Supposed to snow on Sunday. I am ok with this. I hate our climate here. It's like a tropical fucking nightmare. Ideally I'd love to live somewhere that actually gets cold more than for five days a year.
Even though its supposed to get really cold, people are prepared. Yea some vehicles wont start and the roads will have blackice on them from car exhaust, but other than that people will be fine. This isnt Texas where they shut down everything for a small amount of ice or cold weather

Yep, here in Huntsville the public schools are delayed two hours on Monday and Tuesday. Their reasoning is that there COULD be bad weather or ice on the roads. Alabama completely freaks out when there's cold weather.
I just got back from being stuck in the snow for 20 minutes. My school hasn't officially closed but no one's planing on going in on monday. I'll probably step outside once to experience it.
here in south texas we wear full jackets whenever it hits our peak low of 50°
northern suburbs got hit pretty bad too, like I mentioned earlier the plows did fuck-all from the 31st to late on the 2nd so everything was a thick packed layer of ice with twice as much slush on top, save for some windy spots like hill peaks
driving anything over 25-30 pretty much ensured you'd get tossed around half the time, hitting a lump of slush was enough to wiggle you around hard so it was nerve wracking trying to stay in the trough dug out by others' wheels
Yup, the roads were pretty shit up here in the northern suburbs. I tried to make it to the train station so I could go to work yesterday and was doing about 30 and the next thing I knew I was going sideways then backwards and bounced off the curb and blew out two tires and cracked a rim. Seven hundred dollars later and I should be able to get my truck back tomorrow. I hate this goddamn weather.
At least I'm moving to Nashville in a month, but I just have to survive until then. I'm really not looking forward to that minus 8 high on Monday.
chicago has been pretty fuckin cold too. not to mention the fact it snowed like 2 feet
Monday's -50F temperature aren't stopping DePaul (where I go to school) from doing anything. They just sent out a mass email saying that it's gonna be difficult and potentially dangerous, but to basically just wear some extra socks. Let's ignore that it's largely a commuter school, and commuters will face the biggest problems. I'm not exactly looking forward to waiting for the bus on Monday.
This cold wave sucks, bleh. It's so cold out that it hurts to breathe

I sympathize (even though it's not quite as cold here) with you guys :(
i think i'd rather just kill myself then be subjected to being out in negative temperatures.
Times like these, I like to think of Vancouver's high cost-of-living as the "Be glad you're not frozen/burning" tax.
Wimps.
- Love, Vancouver.
I was offended because you said that while living in cozy Vancouver. By ancient Canadian law, I demand six apologies.
-48C is impressive for somewhere relatively southern compared to me. -58C is the wind chill record for my town, and at that point you don't really notice it getting colder anyway. Good job Minnesota!
Aww, thanks. <3 We didn't really try for this, though, I think we were just hopeful that it didn't rain and freeze two inches of ice on literally everything. Again.
That is something every Minnesotan lives in fear of, even during Road Construction.
Send help, I can't feel my fingers and toes in Wienerpeg!
Canada.
Fuck I gotta deliver pizzas in that shit on Monday, really not looking forward to it, I'm almost praying my car doesn't start.
and its 5 degrees celcius in northern europe, WTF IS GOING ON, no snow at all
They reported that Winnipeg was seeing temps colder than the surface of mars. (Source)
Winnipeger here. Can confirm. It fucking sucked. Went outside to shovel my driveway, was only out for about 10 minutes and I got frostnip on my damn face.

Why are there so many Winnipeggers on Facepunch? There needs to be a meetup of some kind.

I read the cold is coming around 10th January, at least to Sweden.
A few weeks ago it was seriously the coldest it's been in like 35 years and that was only 9F. Last night we had freezing fog here though, seriously Pea soup.
i'm jealous
and just look at the ludicrous temperature they have
Meanwhile in Australia 45-50c
Can you do the rest of us a favour while you're melting and freezing to death and put your stuff in a neat orderly pile so when it's all done with we can just come and pick it up.
meanwhile in hawaii
