You do not need a fucking phone 24/7 letters are where it's at
We first discovered that microwave transmitters could heat food, because the engineers who worked on them kept having chocolate bars and such melt in their pockets.
I heard that story a long time ago. Made me lol. I'm surprised they didn't feel themselves starting to heat up.
Exposure to radiation emitted by cellphones is no more dangerous than what we already get from background radiation. To accumulate that much of a rad buildup to do significant damage to your cells, you'd need to be around several phones all transmitting data in close proximity to your body.
My data connection is always enabled and I usually can't put my phone down, I use the web quite a lot on it.
you guys know the earth and the sun emit way more radiation than cell phones. right?
ITT people talking about EM radiation and ionizing radiation like they're the same thing. The radiation we are exposed to naturally is alpha and beta from the decay of naturally occuring radioactve isotopes, not the microwaves and radio waves like cell phones. EM waves do NOT build up in the body, but can cause cell damage just the same way holding your head in a microwave would(heat by exciting water molecules). Not carcinogenic in the same way as ionzing radiation though. Cell phones however, are nowhere near as powerful as something like a ham radio. Cell phones also have shielding on the side that faces the head to lower energy in that direction.
So if I spend less time in the laundry room which has asbestos in it I can offset my risk of cancer while using my phone.
I honestly don't care. In this day and age it's impractical to not have a cell phone. Hell my house doesn't HAVE a home phone, nor did my apartment in Chicago when I lived there.
I don't remember who said this but I thought it was interesting. When cars were invented people were dying all over the place, with car crashes and people getting run over and shit. But we didn't ditch cars. The point is, even if we did find out phones cause cancer, we wouldn't tear the phone masts down and stop using them
So wait, people actually believe in this? Most "experts" lie more than fox news Plus you can easly prove that this is bullshit
Stephen Colbert was on about this.
Apparently cellphones use a radiation that microwaves use called 'Microwave radiation' which cooks your brain. (Ha ha, I bet mine taste delicious) The recommended distance between you and your phone should be 4 inches which is the same size as a burito. So the verdict, put a burito between your ear and your phone and have a chat with Nanna. That'll cook your Burito!
:v:
I don't even own a cellphone! I wish I had friends.
Who talks for 30 mins on the phone a day? Most of my phone use is typed, and my conversations are pretty short.
And what they don't even mention in the article is that, coffee is in the same category.
"Possibly" carcinogenic. Well...I am possibly shitting my pants. :monocle:
Well I'm off to live in a lead box to avoid cancer. [editline]31st May 2011[/editline] I'll suffocate, but my risk of cancer will be reduced.
But the lead causes cancer!
the cancer experts can suck on my phone lol, radio waves isn't ionizing radiation it can't hurt us
We got 1000 people to not drive cars and 1000 people to drive cars, more drivers got cancer Cars cause cancer
One of my co-workers said he knew a guy who worked in statistics, he allegedly once said that if you give them enough time, you can say X causes Y. You could have legitimate statistics that say people who go go to church are more likely to develop brain cancer, just because going to church is something a large number of people do anyway.
There's way too many confounding variables here. It could just be that people who live in urban areas tend to use their cell phones more often, and air pollution increases your cancer risk.
I'd rather die at age 78 due to brain cancer, than live to be 90 with no one ever calling me.
I get more ionising radiation from taking a shit than I do from using a phone for a week straight. Articles like these are fucking stupid, standing under a bright light is more likely to give you brain cancer than using a phone - the photons in visible light have a higher frequency than microwaves / radio waves and therefore have more energy which can ionise atoms in your head.
