I should be moving to Middlesbrough for Uni. I'm excited to change the farmer accent of the midlands to that.
I like how their logo has a minis-swastika in it
Are they Grammar Nazis?
Personally I think this is a good thing, I think it pays off not to speak like a lemon. Plus it's much more attractive when people speak properly
imo you should use "proper english" in academic assignments but i don't like the idea of trying to coach away dialects/accents/lingo i think improper english is a lot more fun and interesting than adhering to strict grammar rules

Grangetown Hemlington TS1 past Parliment road. You will get raped by night men. Thorntree Stockton(The poofs across the river) Acklam Linthorpe Past Akbars on Linthorpe road after 8pm Coulby Newham Easterside Eston Grove Hill Park End Whinney Banks Saltersgill Southbank Pallister Ormesby North Ormesby Normanby Berwick hills Brambles farm Tollesby Teesville Good luck! [editline]5th February 2013[/editline] Basically, lock yourself in your dorm after 6pm
I take it I should accept whatever offer Sunderland give me and not look back.
No no, take it. The university is actually up there with Oxford and Cambridge. I'm not joking. They won university of the year last year and most of the games industry has people from Teesside. It's just the areas are not very nice at night, that's all. Plus you can come round for free vodka and jack Daniels, random Fper.
All kids should be allowed to write in their regional dialect if they want and not be opressed by foreigners
I'm starting games design this September at teesside, and I pick up accents really quickly FUCK
shert and werk you say?
ey mate, aur accy is mor lyk that shit son. Filmed in our town.
All kids should be allowed to write in their regional dialect if they want and not be opressed by foreigners
Are you sure? It's not even considered English to be honest. Here is some Facebook posts from today: "thinking your clever slaging girls of haha do one !" "Why are all girls slating tn's tonight. There sexy as u sluts; shutup" nd classiks lyk: "no need in the shit that gets broadcasted on bbm lately.. "bc this if you brush your teeth" what even are some people :|| dinks" "When people are like or gunna stop being bitchy me yet I turn around and they are talking about me haha big turn around nor but your teeth back in your mouth then"
Hopefully Hertfordshire accept me so I can go down t' south and wind up all these southern gits with my pronunciation.
It's not an accent, it's a grammatically incorrect way of speaking. You can control what you say.
;39487663']It's not an accent, it's a grammatically incorrect way of speaking. You can control what you say.
If I'm speaking formally to someone, I have to really think about what I'm saying while I'm saying it.
;39487663']It's not an accent, it's a grammatically incorrect way of speaking. You can control what you say.
why does it matter?
;39487663']It's not an accent, it's a grammatically incorrect way of speaking.
why does it matter?
It really doesn't unless you're speaking formally, I just don't like slang/generally butchering of the language much, and that's really all it is. I'd be perfectly fine if it was just an accent, but it's not like people have spoken like this for 100s of years though.

Can someone explain the whole shert/shirt and werk/work thing to me? I'm saying shert and shirt the exact same way. Is shert supposed to be like "where"?
Can someone explain the whole shert/shirt and werk/work thing to me? I'm saying shert and shirt the exact same way. Is shert supposed to be like "where"?
Yeah I think. I've heard people say work like 'wherek'.
Wait, so children are using colloquial terms in their work?
You'd be surprised how common it is. My mom's a high school teacher and worked on essentially national abitur corrections. Everything anonymous, but you could instantly tell from where each of the essays came since they were littered with dialect terms and phrases. Mind you this was essentially the last essay you write in school so grade 13 roughly. Generally speaking schools which were on a similar level to english prep schools tended to completely avoid it, while craft schools were the biggest offenders.
;39487663']It's not an accent, it's a grammatically incorrect way of speaking. You can control what you say.
It's a dialect.
I should be moving to Middlesbrough for Uni. And you'll probably be visited by your friendly neighbourhood door-to-door drugs salesman.

I'm from Newcastle and since Facebook became popular, more and more people have started typing as if they were speaking the dialect.
They should replace it with the scottish accent instead and see if anyone even understands something
They should replace it with the scottish accent instead and see if anyone even understands something
No, Irish Gaelic. Mess with them' heads.
No no, take it. The university is actually up there with Oxford and Cambridge. I'm not joking. The list posted is rather accurate as well, Middlesbrough is full of scary people who want nothing more than 20p to get the bus home. Or so they say. Plus you can come round for free vodka and jack Daniels, random Fper.
Well, in that case I'm coming to yours. Teesside buddies!
Oh hey I have to go to college in Boro. Too bad half the people there are knobheads. I doubt this little queen's english plan thing will work very well anyway, half the kids up here don't give a fuck about school and shit from what I've seen.
If the kid is writing like it then I can see how that's a problem. Must admit my Grandfather wrote like it for the longest time and it was pretty funny.
oh god that school is like a 5 minutes walk from my house, I completely agree with what they're doing. [editline]6th February 2013[/editline] oh wait they're talking about a different sacred heart, there are 2 for some reason??
