Im waiting for the big ole discussion about how drugs are bad, or how tobacco is worse/better then drugs. Where are you Thisispain
It kills neurons, but bad, degraded ones. And at same time it spawns new neurons. That's why person smoking too much cannabis seems brain damaged - it isn't. It's new neurons just have to re-learn stuff and person will be able to function normally but different. That may sound bad, but it isnt... why? Look, if your functions and personality never change, you get old. It's simply as that. Cannabis has been used as medication for centuries, all sort of diseases, including mental ones.
This isn't true in the slightest
The only brain cells it's been shown to kill are cancer cells
Pure MDMA isn't the problem.
The problem is ecstasy which usually is cut with all sorts of shit.
*annually - per year
Thanks for the hint I probably wouldn't have thought of that
there's one thing MDMA burns through serotonin levels leaving you depressed all drugs cause some sort of damage even weed, weed is not good for the heart in anyway but is a great aphrodisiac
The substance that is also in Cannabis prevents neural degradation or in another term, aging. But Cannabis works a bit different. It kills neurons, but bad, degraded ones. And at same time it spawns new neurons. That's why person smoking too much cannabis seems brain damaged - it isn't.
As much as i love pot and advocate legalization etc, i want to see studies and evidence of this
watch the video that beanhead posted, the full one that is
Darn all these kids needing proof their drugs aren't dangerous, back in the day medical experts everywhere told you that they melt your brain and cause your trousers to be itchy, and you still took them!
Kids of today have no constitution
Plus isn't it fact having sex on MDMA a bad thing? It's not as good sober anymore?
Hahahahaha you are so ignorant, why do so many people believe this?
Oh wait it's because they're 13, haven't ever tried ex and don't know how it works.
it's literally the most retarded urban legend out there and if you think it's true then you need to go play in traffic
-snip-
Cynically I think that half of all studies on drugs set out to prove brilliant they are and can cure cancer and shit whilst the other half says otherwise.
Sounds great, but I'm not gonna take any chances on that until it's legalized and properly regulated.

It's not as dangerous as thought, but it isn't a harmless thing.
It's not as dangerous as thought, but it isn't a harmless thing.
When did I say it was harmless?

You seem to think it has positive benefits when it doesn't.
You seem to think it has positive benefits when it doesn't.
It has plenty of positive benefits
It's not as dangerous as thought, but it isn't a harmless thing.
...Like everything?
You seem to think it has positive benefits when it doesn't.
It's full of positive benefits, many that are possibly undiscovered yet, and full of negative shit, many of which are possibly undiscovered.
Frankly, in my opinion, based off the fact that we've been growing, smoking, and creating products with cannabis for thousands of years; it probably has more positive benefits than negative shits.
It has plenty of positive benefits
Not really, you won't improve anything by having it. Either that or a much superior version already exists making it obsolete.

If it is great for production then why is wood pulp used for paper, nylon and cotton for ropes and string, cotton for cloth, etc? Plus the varieties that are smoked have been around for only really a short time and the strength of them has only increased to massive levels in recent years.
Uh oh, thread about drugs on FP. Incoming shitstorm.

Uhm actually hemp WAS used for all of that shit and it WAS much more durable until said woo/cotton companies lobbied for the ban of marijuana. You've proved you're extremely biased and know nothing of the subject.

And it has been smoked for thousands of years. It cannot be used for textiles because guess what? It's illegal on a federal level, a schedule one drug
(1) Schedule I.—
(A) The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse.
(B) The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.
(C) There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision."
It should not be there, if it wasn't there it could be used for textiles, for recreational use and many more things. I think you should watch the Union or the movie that shows the possibility that Cannabis can cute certain types of cancer.

You won't improve anything? What about your mood? It's natural people walk around depressed, and that's why anti-depressant exist. But Cannabis works even better than those anti-depressants.
But it's known (well at-least from me) that you never tried a single joint. That would be like telling around that sex is bad, but you never had it. Self-pwn.
Why is Cannabis not in production? How it's not? Maybe now, but if you look back into the history, everything was made from cannabis. But, why not today? Let me tell you a story. Man is corrupt and can get corrupt. It is that simple. And some men wanted to profit. But cannabis was too much of a enemy to them. They banned it, and no one was able to use it anymore - for production/for getting high. Cannabis got replaced by wood pulp, nylon, cotton...
The strength has increased? That's good thing dude, you can always use less.

Oh my fucking god.
Oh my fucking god.
Let me give you the dates for when various cotton related machinery was invented.
Flying shuttle - 1733
Spinning jenny - 1764
Spinning mule - 1779
Power loom - 1785
Cotton gin - 1793
These inventions massively boosted the cotton that could be processed, spun and woven.
Cotton production went up massively.
The cotton imported by Britain in 1701 was 1,985,868 lbs.
By 1800 it was 56,010,732 lbs.
In 1701 the value exported was £23,253, and a century later it had increased to £5,406,501.
Cotton production skyrocketed, and money began to be made as it moved from cottages into factories.
In the United States, the first restrictions for sale of cannabis came in 1906 (in District of Columbia).
If hemp was such a miracle crop, why did cotton suddenly surpass it in the 1700s, and yet it could compete for centuries?

Bullshit. Flax was also used, and even in the centuries before cotton the wealth of the English (for most of the middle ages) was based on wool, along with Flanders. Even in the 1700s and 1800s sheep were introduced into the Scottish highlands and Australia and made a good amount of cash, despite hemp never having any restrictions until the 20th century.
