I don't understand why countries get into debt in the first place. Not countries like the US anyway, just fucking pay that shit off.
Sir, my father makes almost 100,000 dollars a year ,and I'm still joining the military. Your accusation is completely false. Even if it was a war your drafted into your still all looked equally.
Oh look an outlier, this changes everything.
BTW, 100k a year is still middle class(you're not rich).
Saving forum space :P
Do I really need too hammer the point into your fucking numb skull?
What you don't realize is that people have had worse and have done something great through history while their lives progressed.
Poverty isn't the worst thing in the world. Sure it's bad, but you gotta realize people get through it fine ,and they don't have to join the military or any of that shit.... They need to get their heads out of their asses and use the talent they were gifted with ,and attempt to make a living from said talents...
Also where the fuck does freewill step in these lines? So your telling me someone can't just do what they're good at doing?
No one has a fetish for a life in a shrap metal house ,but you gotta make due and get what you need ,and not what you want.
As for what your saying about this conversation on whether or not people who are in poverty just join the military to get an education well I'm gonna tell you a fun story. Your wrong. You need a GED or higher to get in practically every branch of the military. The only branch which allows undergraduates is the Navy.
I'm very well aware that the concept "Money buys happiness" is pretty much the truth. What you have too realize is sometimes people need to make do with what they need, not what they want.
What did those list of people have to do with getting out of poverty? Re-read it. It's showing you can be in the worst or the most disturbing of situations and be able to make a difference in the world.
@Smurfy -
A lot of things can range into that actually... War,Ownership,Loans. A lot of shit can play into it just depends whats going on and which country your cock sucking for money.
There's always loans and student loans from colleges
hard to get for people with low credit (like poor people) and difficult for a poor family to shoulder, should they get one, as they usually are higher tuition.
There's always scholarships from either Grades or Sports.
scholarships and grants vary a lot in requirements, and also most scholarships are discriminatory, picking the best or most qualified, everyone else is SOL.
it's important to remember that if money and background was not such a barrier, and college wasn't so hard to get into, we wouldn't have a mass of uneducated persons.
i think schooling needs to be heavily subsidized, or completely free, like in cuba. the schooling system there produces, for example, the best doctors in latin america. cuban doctors are known in latin america and other places internationally for being sent overseas to help others.

um. you know we're talking about the educational opportunities poor people are limited to, and you're fucking going off about 'talents' that won't make you any money. your employer doesn't look at your proclaimed talents, he looks at your degrees.

you have no idea what you're talking about do you?
let me explain the discussion:
we're talking about how the 'volunteering' of people into the military is very shallow, because many people who do join are just people from poor backgrounds looking for higher education (that means COLLEGE not high school which you're talking about for some reason).

I've always found it fairly easy to get scholarships. Most of them I just have to write a one page essay to get them, and I get the money with bullshitting through what I wrote.
fun fact: if we ever cut defense spending (which iirc has not happened since WW2) we could probably cut the deficit by a pretty huge chunk.
we could also spend the money we're wasting on worthless military toys on things that matter like healthcare, infrastructure, etc.
but nope, guess we'll sink into further debt thanks to this pointless war which will probably never end.
And more and more poor people will be forced to join the military only to die pointlessly as well.

well first that's a grant not a scholarship. second grants vary a lot in the amount of money you get, with the best ones being the most discriminatory. also, not everyone is eligible for every grant or scholarship, as they might not fit the requirements (some of which are out of their power) or it may only apply to certain schools. the situation for paying for college is different for each individual. but, clearly, it is not a very successful one when, like i said, we have a large mass of uncollege-educated (yes i made that up) people.
i would make some sort of reply joeskylynx or whoever's posts, but the mere fact that I now know that a furry, military-worshipping conservative exists in this world (that's not jay naylor) is forcing my mind to shut down in pain and rage

i don't mean to be mean, but you and a few others should stop getting so worked up over posts by right wingers. sure, they can often be ignorant and downright stupid, but our thoughts are often ignorant and downright stupid to them, too.

you think i'm getting angry/worked up over what people post on an internet forum? it's just a forum, dude, it can be funny to make comments about shit posts.

because they always take my overwrought, exaggerating posts seriously
don't get me wrong they're still dumb, and i like expressing my opinions, but there's no point in actual debate so why bother taking it all seriously?
Why the fuck should we be taxed for Bush's war that he couldn't pay for?
I say we tax the people who organized and pushed for this war in the first place: Halliburton, ExxonMobil, Chevron, Boeing, Lockheed-Martin, CACI, Titan, WGN, and the rest of the military-industrial complex. The Bush and Cheney families personally should receive a 99% income tax to pay for their fucking war. Every last cent of these companies earnings should be fully and completely taxed until the end of the war, because they are ultimately the ones responsible for it.
And if we can't pay for the war...DON'T CONTINUE FIGHTING THE FUCKING WAR!
people like you make me sad
Iraq isn't the source of our debt you boob knockers, go to your bank, ask for a loan and then come back and tell us why they wouldn't give you one.
Our GDP is the biggest object on earth, a titty little war like Iraq didn't even scratch the paint.

I apologize then, I was confused by the paragraph
I really don't care what they do.
As long as they come up with an idea I'm fine. Obama has been unsure for the past few months, and we need a decision before everyone dies of old age.

Why, is the war going somewhere?
The only reason Republicans are bitching about him actually taking time to weigh information and come to a decision is because they'd look like complete retards if they jumped on the anti-war bandwagon against their own war, so this is the best they can come up with.
Meh, does it matter?
America is fucked anyways.

cool, let's just rush forward blindly instead of weighing our options and trying to make the most intelligent decision.

You either send backup, or you retreat.
If you fail to decide, then casualties start to rise.
You either send backup, or you retreat.

Casualties can start to rise with troop surges AND retreats.
Explain to me why we're paying to rebuild a country that was crumbling in the first place and full of god knows how much problems, after they decided to bomb us. Our own damn citizens are starving, homeless, and without health care, and we're spending billions on repairing a country on the other side of the world.
Seriously, what the fuck.
Holy fuck Obama how about you do what you said you would and just pull us out. We can't win this damn war
He never promised to pull out of Afghanistan. Actually, he promised the opposite.
He promised to begin pulling out of Iraq.
He never promised to pull out of Afghanistan. Actually, he promised the opposite.

This is true, he promised from the beginning to get us out of Iraq and focus on Al Qaeda.
Still doesn't change my feelings that just like the Soviets, we can dump all the money and people into Afghanistan we want, and it's not going to win the war.
