Donald Trump overtakes Hillary Clinton for first time since May in ABC poll

It's worth noting that 538 isn't the only poll aggregrator out there. By his own admission, his method is more conservative (or cautious) than most, and as of this post Hillary Clinton still has Trump pretty beat. I'm still confident that Clinton will win, it's simply a matter of how much.

Why Canada and not Mexico? Is there anything wrong with Mexico?

So basically 'feel good' social measures? A vote for Hillary is a vote for corruption and everything wrong with your political system. She's dirty, everyone knows it and I actually bet a hefty wad of money that she'll be impeached before the next election (because, lets face it, she's going to win).
making sure that im not fired or kicked out of my apartment for being trans is TOTALLY a feel good measure, and not a real thing that i desperately dont want to go through
Forget about national polls, they mean nothing. Take this electoral map from RCP, which is far more conservative than 538, and add New Hampshire, Colorado and Nevada into the list. Boom Clinton wins the election.

Good point. It seems those who want to move to Canada in case of Trump presidency want to move some where that has many white liberals (aka people like themselves). Where in Mexico they would have to deal with brown people and Catholicism. Yuck!
Mexico doesn't have poutine, which is the real reason everyone wants to move here.

I prefer a colder climate.
I prefer less Cartel.

Mexico is not like the wastelands in Mad Max. An American migrating to Mexico could live a *very* comfortable life in the city, far away from any danger.
Looks like you guys have the wrong idea about Mexico.

It's indisputably more dangerous and largely speaks a completely different language than the U.S. or Canada.
What are you trying to say?

I hate saying this but I genuinely believe he's trying to call liberals racist for preferring Canada over Mexico.

Last time I checked, they teach Spanish in American schools.
I want *you* guys to tell me why Canada and not Mexico.

Yes those high school lessons are totally in depth, mandatory, and retained by most adults years later. Totally.
I hate saying this but I genuinely believe he's trying to call liberals racist for preferring Canada over Mexico.
Not really racists, but I want to know what's wrong with Mexico - for some damn reason, their first choice is "brb moving to Canada", where life in Mexico isn't that terribly bad.
I did, I guess you didn't like my answer.
Your answer is perfectly valid, that's fine. It just bothers me when they just instantly choose Canada over Mexico when they say "omg omg Trump is winning, better pack my shit and move over to Canada".
It gets pretty old and I'd like more insight about it, that's all.
Very few people remember enough Spanish from highschool to actually speak to a native speaker.
Ok, absolutely no interest in learning another language. Lazy as hell, but fair enough. Unless you're ready to learn some French if you move over to Canada, yes?
Very few people remember enough Spanish from highschool to actually speak to a native speaker.
It takes about a year or two to learn a new language by daily exposure. That been my experience.

Too bad school doesn't last all year, much less spanish classes that -- at least at my school -- only lasts a semester.
Also many people don't take spanish since it isn't mandatory.
Also language skills decay if you don't use them for years at a time.
And this may schock you, but many high school students don't pay as much attention to their classes as they could, particularly ones (like spanish) that aren't required to graduate.

Not in school. I mean being in the nation and culture 24/7.
If I were to relocate you and drop you off in a place where no one speaks your language, you would learn eventually out of necessity. Based on my experiences in such situations it takes about one year to guess accurately what is being said (recognition) and another year to begin to speak it at a crude level.

I see, I misinterpreted since the post you were responding to was about high school spanish.
Either way, if you move to Canada you won't have to learn a new language at all.

Depends where you locate. You may need to learn French. From what I understand from fellow facepuncher Canadians, in some place English isnt the only language and might need to be multi lingual to get by or increase employment opportunities.
I could be wrong.

How about there's no change in culture to adapt to? You are really just looking for reasons to hate people
Why Canada and not Mexico? Is there anything wrong with Mexico?
Personally, nothings wrong with mexico, but I don't want to deal with learning a new language (lots of places where no one speaks french or it isn't a second/first language), hotter climates (already hate it after living in florida for years), and if I have to move (which I won't) it would be because Trump wins, and you can bet that relations with america will go down the shitter if that happens.
Excusez-moi?
Yeah québécois French is spoken in 1 province in the nation. English is spoken every where else and no where are you mandated to learn both
Grasp harder

Why would people move to the country most adversely affected by a Trump presidency?
You're being so disingenuous preta

You work in insurance and in a place where Chinese are significant in number (based on things you said in other threads). Is me saying English (and french) might not be the only languages needed to increase financial opportunities?

You mean those two semesters of memorizing basic spanish vocabulary and numbers up to 10? The ones that students only take because it's a state requirement? Lmao.

Uh no you only need to speak english.
There's an overwhelming amount of chinese and koreans in this area in particular, due to how desirable it is world wide. So, the richest come here, and spend their money. Do you need to know those languages? Not even for a second. Why? Because I literally have succesful, english only family members, friends, and colleagues. It's ridiculous for you to assert that. There's a large amount here. So what? You act like the country isn't our country because of that? Why? Do you have some really bad nationalist tendencies you need to discuss?

That's partially how I've learned English, the rest comes from sheer repetition of watching movies, tv shows and playing videogames.
It's not impossible, it just takes longer.

No. It is you assuming the worst here. Its a sincere question. Nationalism has nothing to do with. Why are you being so negative?
Ive been in places in the US being multi lingual wouldve been an advantage. Not required. It still would've been an edge. Knowing Korean and Chinese would be in an advantage in the job market where you live?
