You are now aware your jaw has weight and are holding it closed manually
You are now itchy.
You are now homosexual.
You are now aware of the space inbetween your toes and fingers.
I raged when that guy on page one said that. Fuck!
Ok. So they covered why we blink in synchronization (or not), and why we blink before and after events.
But the mean driving factor behind blinking is to keep the eyes moist, they don't really talk about that. So really, the article is about "Why we blink in synchronization".
They claim that we blink at certain times as to not miss any important information or events. That pretty much says that blinking is still a mandatory action. So really, this only covered some small little quirk, nothing more.

The programme dispels the myth that blinking serves only to keep our eyes wet as apparently studies have shown that we don’t blink any more or less in different humidities.
It covers that.

Interestingly, blinks seems to be controlled so they occur at the start and end of meaning actions.

It's not really mandatory. It's just more comfortable having moist eyes. We don't really need to blink.
you are now blinking manually
I used to hate this, but I somehow managed to avoid doing things 'manually'. Except for reading subtitles sometimes, I really hate it when that happens.
After reading this thread I've started blinking rapidly.
I always fall for the "you are now ____ randomly". :argh:
