I don't think this applies anymore. People knew this and I'm sure we're looking to bomb it if necessary

only the third movie. the first and second actually used more practical effects and miniatures than you think

many people are straight up saying it's the best star wars since empire strikes back and that it eclipses the prequels
People were happy after TPM premiere as well.
People are a LOT more skeptical now thanks to those films. Back then people just wanted new star wars period, now a lot of people want new GOOD star wars. And if it really was still able to impress people then I'd call that a good sign. But I'll wait until all the critic reviews are really out to say for sure.

People say a lot of stupid things after getting pampered like people attending an official premiere tend to be.
See: some of the game reviews; for SW related-RotS.
Also time to log out of the Internet until Friday after I've seen it.

honestly i think you're just being cynical for the sake of it. it's ok to be excited for a movie
honestly i think you're just being cynical for the sake of it. it's ok to be excited for a movie
There is being excited and then there is trusting people who say that this is "the best thing ever" and "better than ESB".
After getting full catering and seeing it with the stars and George Lucas himself
I suppose, but I wouldn't applaud him for turning the Star Wars backstory into a pile of shit
however I can see where you're coming from
EDIT : I do respect him for the shit he went through making the first movie and the whole Star Wars idea though.
As much as I didn't like the pre-quels, had they not had the name star wars they would have been okay-ish scifi films

I've seen that before, forgot about it though
there's still so much CGI. though. the CGI itself isn't even the problem I feel. People hate the fact that the movies have a ton of CGI/Screen simply because of how the actors don't react to it.
It's more that the CGI and effects in the prequals were handled really poorly. In a good film with good CGI usage you won't even tell almost, but it's too clear in the prequals, it makes stuff seemed phoned in. This is why you hear so many people complain about the CGI/Green screen (Blue, pink, green, brown, whatever works)
the actors don't seem to react to anything. the entire movie feels like actors on a stage, not people with emotions dealing with the issues of a giant galactic war. They are merely characters, nothing else. Anikan isn't a young jedi struggling with depression, he's an actor pretending to be pissed off.
Luke Skywalker however is a man who struggles to discover a power within himself and you can really actually FEEL it. You know he's his own man. But I just don't feel anything with any of the characters. Hell, if they made the prequals COMPLETELY CGI like the show they'd probably be better off.
It's been said before but yeah, the prequels objectively aren't the greatest movies. They can be fun to watch for a Star Wars fan though
you can make this argument for literally any franchise out there
"x enty into the series objectively isn't great, but can be fun to watch for a fan"
I watched all Star Wars movies for the first time just a couple of weeks ago and I can't say I hated the prequels. The CGI while bad sometimes was actually easier on the eye than some of the bad special effects in the original trilogy. The thing's that disappointed me the most were dull acting and lazy writing. Anakin being more mature and smarter as a child than a grown man was really annoying. Also "Lost the will to live" Really? What a a copout. Not gonna list them but there's so many inconsistencies and bad writing in it.

No one disagrees that the prequels are no where near as good as the originals. Rewatching the originals I can't think of any scenes that I dislike. Watching the prequels I can think of many. The people that blindly hate the prequels saying they are just cgi and green screen and don't acknowledge the things they did right are just jumping on a bandwagon. Which is what you tend to hear more often these days than someone that can make a legitimate argument as to why they dislike the prequels.
i want to hear what things you think the prequels did right
i want to hear what things you think the prequels did right
ewan mcgregor as obi wan for one thing
ewan mcgregor as obi wan for one thing
Ian McDiarmid was a blast to watch as well.
i want to hear what things you think the prequels did right
he didn't really say he liked/loved them though
i want to hear what things you think the prequels did right
The Clone Wars
The clones in general.
Ewan McGregor
Ian McDiarmid
Aliens aside from Jarjar and Dexter
also the prequels allowed for the clone wars tv show to happen which was able to develop anakin as a character FAR better than the movies ever could. plus darth maul was able to come back and it was fuckin awesome

Jango was better portrayed than Boba imo. Boba was a bitch in the sequel and went out like one
i want to hear what things you think the prequels did right
palpatine, even if he did some dumb shit too

i don't think anybody really ignores these things though, if anything people often express disappointment that they're so poorly utilized, usually being left to other media to clean up and use in better stories, and ultimately failing to save the films they appear in.
like i love the clones and the whole setup of the war but let's be honest, almost none of that comes from the actual films themselves aside from the basic idea. i mostly just like the clones in the movies because they're cool in the cartoons and games rather than the other way around. in the same way the war makes very little sense in general and is very poorly displayed.

because the arguments have been made and remade for years and years. the plinkett reviews are over 3 hours long. there are hundreds of great other reviews of them besides that, not to mention the tons of re-cuts with lengthy explanations of why some scenes were removed
if you want people to say the same exact things every single time then sure but i think that'd get really boring really fast
people applauded Lucas?
what in the fuck didn't he make the prequels
They were applauding that he had nothing to do with this movie.
this is cool/funny

Can't wait until Thursday, so hyped
Jango was better portrayed than Boba imo. Boba was a bitch in the sequel and went out like one
Huh? Jango wasn't much better, he ran away from Obi Wan and got his ass kicked by Mace right away in the 2nd fight.
Man I sure loved those prequels especially when they said the Force was little buggies in your tummies.
Man I sure loved those prequels especially when they said the Force was little buggies in your tummies.
Man remember that part where the Emporer used the force to get Anakin's mom pregnant because destiny or whatever the fucking theme of those movies was supposed to be?
That was a great plotpoint.
Huh? Jango wasn't much better, he ran away from Obi Wan and got his ass kicked by Mace right away in the 2nd fight.
You need to rewatch the movie lol.

This was a Jedi from the Council.
He doesn't 'run away' from Obi Wan, he thinks he killed him because he lets him go off the fucking platform ledge into the stormy Kamino sea, so he leaves like he intended to before Obi Wan showed up.
The only reason Jango gets busted by Mace is because his jetpack broke.
Man I sure loved those prequels especially when they said the Force was little buggies in your tummies.
that's not entirely correct
the midi-chlorines were literally just little bacteria shits that showed how sensitive to the force you'd be, they're not the force themselves.
still dumb but not nearly the same

Oh my god how could you watch that clip and not think it's some fan made star wars spoof or something in front of a homemade green-screen
