While we're at it maybe we should break up China to the 16 states it was a few thousands years ago?
There are: http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_exe_percap-crime-executions-per-capita
Also the vast majority of executions in China are due to aggravated murder and drug trafficking, but they can be as flexible as the poaching of pandas or corruption/theft.

Yeah I think it's more important to show the reasons than just giving out numbers. But I guess the latter option is the most effective one.
That's why I love the military. Preach to someone enough and they'll kill children and call it justice. Don't you just love watching individual thought ground to dust?
Where do you think the Army motto of "army of one" comes from? Regular infantry are intentionally stripped of their ability to think for themselves. It poses an interesting problem when it comes time to recruit people for special operations units because the mental requirements are exactly the opposite. Special forces require people capable of individual critical thought. They either have to recruit people who successfully resisted the indoctrination of infantry training, but remained a good soldier, or they have to basically reteach soldiers how to think for themselves. It is such an odd issue.
That said, in Vietnam, I don't think it required much in the way of preaching after the first few months. The tactics used by the Vietcong were pretty fucked up and quickly brought about rage (and fear) in the standard infantry.
healthcare, social programs
You know those do exist in the US, correct?
And no, despite what these forums seem to think, no one wants poor people to not have healthcare or to die. What they want is to ensure we don't sprint into an idealistic and ultimately retarded solution. Look at Social Security. Arguments against it at the time were similar to arguments against most of the iterations of the current health care bill. Look how Social Security is doing now.

Either you're joking or you're stupid
You have a lot of good posts and then you left field us with this bullshit

what I said is fairly accurate. you guys got upset when zeke brought up Guantanamo and instead of acknowledging it as a fair point you instead resorted to "but china does worse things!"
NO ONE equated the human rights abuses of china to the US, but let's be clear here. the US is far from perfect and has had its fair share of violating human rights, so don't get all upset when someone brings it up.
Free Hawaii and then talk.
I don't think Hawaii even wants independence, although this may be satire.
The new secular and democratic Iraqi government is violating the rights of their own people? But the Iraqi government was installed by the United States?

When he clarified that he wasn't equating the two, no one pushed the point any further. No one argued Guantanamo, period, because it is a fair point.
Hawaii doesn't even want independence. They're glad to be part of the United States, in fact, they willingly became a territory and a state.
Not really. It was essentially annexed by American businessmen when they usurped the queen, but yeah, they are definitely not interested in leaving anymore.

JDK you are the most retarded person I have actually seen in ITN. For the love of everyone here stop posting.

it was pretty obvious that he wasn't equating the two from the beginning
thus, I said you guys were getting defensive
Free Palestine and then talk. It's one imperial power shitting on the other.
Palestine is and SHOULD be controlled entirely by Israel. But that's just my $0.02
Israel treats the Palestinians just fine. There are plenty of Muslims living in Israel with full human and civil rights, who are content.
Israel treats the Palestinians just fine.
are you serious

Then congratulations, you're a genius. You understood his point and the rest of us needed clarification. Moving along.

Why does every single political discussion need to involve Israel and Palestine? It's becoming the new Godwin.

I didnt say we didnt have them, Im saying republicans prefer to have money over useful social programs. and it's not hopelessly idealistic and retarded to do something that works for the countries that DO have it. it's just republicans would rather let poor people die than to raise the taxes of the upper 2%

Palestine launches hundred of broken scud missiles, kills 2 people a year. Israel bulldozes an entire town and murders the Palestinians with white phosphorous. Israel doesn't deserve to be there. Britain gave it to them after they stole the land from the palestinians. it's imperialism.
You don't have to be a chef to tell someone their cooking sucks.
Just because we don't have total human rights, doesn't mean we can't point out the flukes in China.

They gave them running water, electricity, an economy, and law. They aren't having nearly as hard as a life now than they were before China took over.

it's more the fact that the US/Americans try to act like they have a perfect track record of upholding human rights and refuse to acknowledge that the US has committed many atrocities and human rights violations throughout the years
pot calling the kettle black
Hah, China needs to learn how to grow up and stop oppressing their own citizens.

FIRST NATION PRIDE!
I pointed out factual bad things america did. Got rated dumb.
This is not how it works boys.
Edit:
It's like some people treat unpleasant facts with disregard and critique as offense in this joint. This happens repeatedly.

The United States is far from perfect, but someone has to call China on their shit.
They are quickly becoming a superpower with a government design that doesn't permit their people to have any say in their government. The Chinese government has near absolute control of the distribution of information inside their nation and the legal authority to do whatever it wants to its own citizens.
If they are willing to do these things to their OWN people, then I don't put a great deal of faith in their friendliness towards other nations.
The United States is far from perfect, but someone has to call China on their shit.
Everyone calls the US on their shit as-is.

they call us on it but we're not NEARLY as demonized as china is.
