someone has to call the US on their shit as well
Yeah that is called every day. The US sits firmly in the spotlight. Everyone picks apart our politics. While I wish most nations would get their nose out of the stuff that affects the US internally, they have a vested interest in our foreign policy and should very much call us out when we do stupid shit (Which also, coincidentally, happens every day). China sits in the corner slowly building the military and economic power with a totalitarian government with complete control over the spread of information. China is, in many respects, North Korea with a better diplomatic front and a shit ton more money.
Except that China tends to be demonized for good reasons? How's that totalitarian government going for you guys? At least Americans have the illusion of choice.
they call us on it but we're not NEARLY as demonized as china is.
They ain't got shit on our record for the removal of indigenous peoples [img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/aa/Early_Localization_Native_Americans_USA.jpg[/img_thumb] Allll of them are 99.9 % gone.
Where do you think the Army motto of "army of one" comes from? Regular infantry are intentionally stripped of their ability to think for themselves. It poses an interesting problem when it comes time to recruit people for special operations units because the mental requirements are exactly the opposite. Special forces require people capable of individual critical thought. They either have to recruit people who successfully resisted the indoctrination of infantry training, but remained a good soldier, or they have to basically reteach soldiers how to think for themselves. It is such an odd issue. That said, in Vietnam, I don't think it required much in the way of preaching after the first few months. The tactics used by the Vietcong were pretty fucked up and quickly brought about rage (and fear) in the standard infantry.
Don't most special forces come from the marines, or is it pretty much even across all branches of the military?
We better listen, guys! They own us, ya know!
Don't most special forces come from the marines, or is it pretty much even across all branches of the military?
Special forces come from their associated branch. The Marines and the Navy work very closely together however and trade a great deal of personnel.
someone has to call the US on their shit as well
The fuck you been smoking cause everyone has for like...10 years, and usually demonizes us too.
Don't most special forces come from the marines, or is it pretty much even across all branches of the military?
Even, but most people join the Marines or try to anyway. Because apparently they're the toughest, but that's a different debate.

If I recall correctly. Weren't people getting agitated with the U.S. not stepping in to help Egypt out so soon?

They've progressed socially, politically and economically quicker than either of our nations in our individual timeframes. They should rather serve as a model for other authoritarian states on how they should progress and reintegrate within the global community. Maybe you should be worried? But that just smacks of the old Yellow Terror all over again.

But that just smacks of the old Yellow Terror all over again.
The political front is funky and as walled off from the hoi polloi as ever and I'd say some of the growth is inflated (there's a potential property bubble when it comes to paving over land formerly used for agriculture, for example, primarily because property is overvalued and people don't move back in) - the nation is still essentially under the control of a command economy complete with centrally planned targets. But it's certainly gone forward socially even if thanks to the creation of jobs without a cause. There is some integration and there is out if you want it. I suppose that's the deal you get from the CPC.
Lol STFU China.
Lol STFU China.
:downsbravo: And once again angry patriotic americans throw a hissy fit whenever the crimes of the US are brought up instead of acknowledging them for once and standing by them. "CHINA DID WORSE THINGS" is not an argument justifying the mistakes of the US, stop using it.
Tiananmen Square Tibet
Tiananmen Square was a long time ago bruv, kinda the point of my entire post right? I want to free Tibet as much as the next person but what has that got to do with anything I have said about China?
But that just smacks of the old Yellow Terror all over again.
I think the phrase "Yellow Terror" is quite applicable in today's society. 80% of the articles I read about China, either deals with their human rights or their moves in the economic plane and how it will affect the world(negatively often). Edit: Maybe not Yellow, but "Chinese Terror".
Tiananmen Square was a long time ago bruv, kinda the point of my entire post right? China has always been on their own, doing their own thing, not minding the world. [editline]10th April 2011[/editline] But not less true.
It's not like they have opened Pandora's Box of knowledge or something, shit, everyone knows this. I would laugh at US attempts to criticize, it's all a jerk-fest of attempts to gain PR and to make the other country look bad. AKA Cold War-esque bullshit.
China has always been on their own, doing their own thing, not minding the world.
Which isn't always good, especially when "doing your own thing" means silencing dissidents and massacring protestors.
This somehow indicates that there appears to be no cooperation between all these people, I mean not enough. Even about treating people the same way, as if we are livestock
It's like a murderer chastising a thief for speaking out against committing crime.
It's like a murderer chastising a thief for speaking out against committing crime.
Two murderers speaking out against each other when both have dirtied their hands in the past

Each power has it own distinct style of evil. :v:
