"patriots" They are communists pigs, not patriots at all.
I really hate this "the French always protest lol" stuff. It glosses over the actual issues at hand and weakens the idea of protest
its because the french like to protest about everything no matter how petty if the price of cheese goes down because french farmers aren't good enough then they go apeshit and block the roads and attack trucks. if a king decides to raise taxes on the nobility and middle classes slightly they'll cut his head off and then unleash a violent and uncontrollable maelstrom that kills millions of people
35 hours is already the shortest in europe i also really doubt that everybody is going to suddenly start working 48 hours a week
i'm pretty sure the people are more pissed about how the law is being passed. imagine how pissed you'd be if david cameron just started signing things into law without even passing it through the legislature
I wish US citizens were this motivated
I really hate this "the French always protest lol" stuff. It glosses over the actual issues at hand and weakens the idea of protest
Just look at the SNCF. They're a joke
1789-1815 in a nutshell
That's a gross oversimplification of the issue.
They are especially mad because they voted on the current government on the premise of doing something against the liberal neoconservative turbocapitalism idiocy of Sarkozy yet Hollande proves to be the same clown with a different facepaint.
i'm pretty sure the people are more pissed about how the law is being passed. imagine how pissed you'd be if david cameron just started signing things into law without even passing it through the legislature
you do realise that the bill can be stopped if enough people vote against it right, and that the parties opposing it haven't been able to cobble together enough support for it yet? and that the majority of French people oppose the protests?
48 is very, very long though.
It's 9 hours a day, where 35 is 7 hours a day. I support frenchies. [editline]6th June 2016[/editline]
I really hate this "the French always protest lol" stuff.
That's a gross oversimplification of the issue.
That's what 'in a nutshell' means.
It's got good media coverage here in France, where it actually matters.
Euronews did quite a lot of early coverage of the protests for about 1.5 weeks here in Portugal, though now they're mostly focusing on the floods and some other stories.
liberal neoconservative turbocapitalism.
new wave post-liberal neoconservative megaturbocapitalism basically, buzzwords
1. Makes it easier for companies to lay off staff and cut costs in difficult economic times.
How is this part being done? I'd need to actually see a translated part of the bill to give my 2c on it.
2. Allows companies to opt out of national labor protection rules if they reach in-house deals on pay and conditions with the consent of a majority of their staff – and not the trade unions.
If this is tied on with #1, then this can lead to a lot of problems. Companies could pull, "Agree to this or we'll fire you because we are in harsh economic times"
3. Allows employers to extend the legal work week from current 35 hours to 48 hours – up to 60 hours with an ‘exceptional authorization’, and reduce overtime from current 25% to not less than 10%.
First part is absolutely fine, 9hrs/day at minimum wage in France is pretty good money from what I'm aware of. The last part though, about overtime is absolute dogshit. If you force your employees to do overtime, you should be forced to pay in-full or full-and-half.
4. Proposes surtax on short-term contracts aimed at getting employers to hire more people on permanent contracts
This is called taking apprentices... But doing it in such a way which is so fucking gray line is ridiculous.
5. Introduces a cap – 15 months of pay – on compensation in cases of unfair dismissal.
So basically Workman Compensation which is limited to 15 months... This is bad how?
new wave post-liberal neoconservative megaturbocapitalism basically, buzzwords
liberal neoconservative turbocapitalism is basically combining a leftwing political position, a rightwing political one, and a description of a (presumably) extreme form of some economic system so vague and bizarre that it neither exists nor describes anything useful
And then we lowered taxes on hotels for promoting tourism(which just increased profit margins of big chains) and paid parents to keep their children at home(which resulted in low education children ot visiting pre-school) but didn't allow homosexual mariage because of the "liberal" party here in Germany.
