Unfortunately its a problem everywhere, its pretty fucking dangerous.
It's amazing the lack of empathy people have these days. Life's crappy enough without some rotten twatspawn trying to blind your ass whilst you pilot an aircraft flying at 500+MPH.

Someone make this 1440x900 and i'll love you
Someone make this 1440x900 and i'll love you
My monitors resolution is 1440x900 and the 1920x1080 looks perfectly fine on it.
someone extend the lighting along the entire length of the laser :D
It's amazing the lack of empathy people have these days. Life's crappy enough without some rotten twatspawn trying to blind your ass whilst you pilot an aircraft flying at 500+MPH.
While I was looking for a video that shows that I read some comments on some similar videos and someone was defending themselves doing it. Apparently its harmless fun for "a group of people" to do in an evening, and is a "challenge to aim into the pilots eye". I honestly don't think they understand just how dangerous blinding a pilot during the approach is.

I remember in America, when someone tried to blind the police helicopter with a laser beam from the concert it was canceled to find the criminal who did this :v: -edit- Sentence is messy but I hope you got it right
And I thought science was making science-y things less fun. I wonder if the people that performed this happened to have large goggles and a penchant for yelling "SCIENCE!" at everything.

Who has the last laugh now!? Muahaha!
Artificial stars? That sounds fucking awesome!
They need them to get rid of atmospheric fluctuations: Laser shoots up, gets back reflected and diffraction happens by the the air (density-changes). Now they can calibrate their telescope by compensating this effect with the help of that laser. [editline]12th September 2011[/editline]
Why is the laser visible? Something screwy must be going on if it's scattering quickly enough to be easily seen on camera.
That's the point of this calibration-laser: To be visible many km in the sky. The general power of those are multiple of tens of Watts, e.g. 20, to be easily visible.

yeah and you have to buy your milk in bags what's your point?
yeah and you have to buy your milk in bags what's your point?
we choose to, for it is the superior milk storage, while cod on the other hand......
Banned in Australia. No, really, people kept trying to blind pilots from their backyard. [editline]12th September 2011[/editline] What kind of person sees a plane and thinks "Aw fuck me mate, I need a bloody powerful laser to blind that bastard!"
I was looking into the law on this actually. If I recall correctly (and it hasn't been updated recently) the law only prohibited the importation of "hand-held" laser pointers of more than 1 milliwatt in power. So you could hypothetically get a 1.21 gigawatt laser pointer and it's perfectly legal, as long as you can't (or don't) pick it up.
Class 2 and below lasers are allowed in the UK (same as the aussies), but it's still a crime to point it at planes. Here in the south they send up rigged planes so when someone shines a laser at them they can pinpoint who's doing it using trigonometry and stuff and nick 'em :v:
BASTARDS! So that's why i'm woken up at 3am every night!
Someone make this 1440x900 and i'll love you
this isn't a difficult thing to do
yeah and you have to buy your milk in bags what's your point?
haha what? that doesn't even happen where i live, and that's completely irrelevant to Call of Duty. by "doesnt even happen where i live", I meant where I live in Canada.
haha what? that doesn't even happen where i live, and that's completely irrelevant to Call of Duty.
WHAT, you do not know of the majesty of MILK IN BAGS PREPOSTEROUS
