Well that's something you don't hear everyday
Looks like Mr. Severs just became Mr. Severed.
Finally, a self-defense story that ends happily.
Sometimes I wonder about courts these day. Good to know it was a quick hearing. :v:
He deserved it.

This. This is also why the 2nd Amendment is important. If he'd had a gun, that guy could have shot the intruder in the leg/arm and not disfigured the intruder for life. Not that the intruder didn't deserve it.
How pathetic. If someone's life is at risk then they should be allowed to use deadly force to defend themselves.
Too true. It's not just human nature, it's the nature of all higher animals. The survival instinct's too strong, it'd take one hell of a lobotomy to snuff it out. It's pointless to avoid it, especially when the chances of your survival are looking slim, and you instinctively attempt to increase your chances.
It was a slice of justice.
It's shit like this that makes dads so awesome.

I don't know about the UK, but in Washington you aren't aloud to kill or seriously injure an intruder unless they have shown they have a weapon. If a burglar goes into your home unarmed and you shoot him then it is manslaughter.
All you punishers.
Cut it out. Seriously.
We need this guy in criminal areas. With a katana.
If the father wasn't within earshot of those remarks, this could have ended better for the intruder.
Fuck yeah! Dad of the ear.
What is it with people doing epic shit with katanas and swords these days?
[release]both high on vodka and cannabis [/release]
High on vodka?
He faced up to eight years, but the people who broke and entered his home, and threatened his family, only got six months? That's wrong.
For some reason I imagine the dad to look like Bruce Willis...
What a goddamn hero

They probably faced more but then made a plea bargain to get a reduced sentence.

The judge ruled he was free to Van Gogh.
I see what you did there.
The intruders were major dumbasses

they reattached his ear.

I dont know why though, using tax payer money to do that when he clearly deserved.
The fact that so many UK citizens go to jail for defending themselves is completely absurd
I'm glad they finally took a step in the right direction.
Well I bet that was a slice of fun
:smug:
They deserved it. I'm glad he didn't get charged.
There's a danger in allowing "free reign" over your own house.
While you should be allowed to protect yourself, any loss of life is something to be weary of.

Dude, you haven't lived before you've smoked vodka!

I think that if a person hasn't shown to be a direct threat to your life then killing them is unnecessary. Killing someone should only be done in defense of your life or someone else's life.
I'm glad the jury cut him some slack.
News puns aside, there's really no slack to need to be cut. They were trespassing on his property and making threats, he had every right to attack them in self defense.
