• Man Is Now Paralyzed After Saving The Life Of A 4-Year Old Girl

I keep on reading it as "drove" and "driving". ROCKMART, Ga. (AP) -- A man has been paralyzed after driving into a creek in northwest Georgia to save a 4-year-old girl who was in danger of drowning.
The guy died, and the girl was pulled out of the water by someone else. So he was injured trying to save her.

-snip- Oh. :(
If there's ever anyone I would call a hero, it's him. Bless this man, and may he rest in peace.
this really isn't helping the whole "just mind your own business don't try to help anyone" thing thats been getting worse lately.
don't dive into water you don't know the depth of ever no matter how urgent I'm a beach lifeguard and a majority of our neck injuries are from diving, not waves knocking people over Also if you hit your head it takes time for your neck to become enflamed and cause damage in that time tell the paramedics they have braces and keep your head still and you are many times less likely to end up paralyzed [editline]29th June 2013[/editline] Broken necks cause damage two ways: bone cutting the spinal cord due to excess head movement post injury and inflammation compressing the cord post injury which needs drugs But just don't dive in to save people ok you can't save anybody with your neck broken
that man's the definition of a hero
I'm a beach lifeguard and a majority of our neck injuries are from diving, not waves knocking people over
That's common knowledge water safety but that doesn't matter when it comes to judging this guy. He died trying to save a drowning girl and has risked his life before saving somebody else. Society has lost a man of great character.
Patterson's dive was not the first time that he had demonstrated his bravery. A week before, he and another man had pulled a truck driver from his cab after the truck caught fire.
:( [editline]asd[/editline] Woops, was previously mentioned but still.
This hero needs a kickstarter or something. A hero doesn't deserve to be fucked over.
As much as I appreciate his heroism, and think he deserves to live at least comfortably, personally I think such money would be better spent as research budget to find a solution or cure to paralysis such as his.
As much as I appreciate his heroism, and think he deserves to live at least comfortably, personally I think such money would be better spent as research budget to find a solution or cure to paralysis such as his.
he's dead
he's dead
Doesn't mean we can't start up the Patterson fund to help research ways to help OTHER people.
I live literally a mile from this creek, and this is so saddening it's not even funny. [editline]29th June 2013[/editline] I can't imagine what the family is going through.
Happened near me, was an accident, the person was sure to die if left alone but someone attempts to help yet the person died anyway and was took to court by the family and lost. It's kinda sad when pretending stuff isn't happening is the safest way to go about your day as you're less likely to get screwed over.
The sort of person who would screw someone over like that when they had only tried to help is the most odious, opportunistic fuckcrumpet I can imagine.
