so imagine we start farming tarantulas for meat then one day there is a containment breach at the tarantula farm oh fuck we're gonna die
it looks cute but is it vegan??? idk
I keep imagining a horrifying crunch as I bite them and cringing.
They don't crunch any more than crisps do, what's the massive deal about this
Is that spider like deep-fried? Because it might taste pretty good, and crispy. There's even a sauce for you to dip the fucker in.
I'd only like two try the first one and the last one. Grubs and such are just too weird looking to be food for me.
Honestly, if they were unrecognizable and roasted, I wouldn't mind. I've eaten and enjoyed the ground-up bone and cartilage of pig, I can handle some minced crickets pressed into chips.
They don't crunch any more than crisps do, what's the massive deal about this
the outside is crunchy and dry but the inside is soft and moist is the problem it wouldn't be so much like crisps as it would be crisps with pudding on them
thanks to an abundance of travel channel i'll try anything once except brains and eyes and shit but bugs if you just make it NOT look like horrifying demons i'll eat it

I wouldn't recommend it.

the only thing i'd eat is the spider.
Better get used to it nerds, its very likely insects will become a popular and reliable source of protein in the future.
lemme call up Andrew Zimmerman and see what he thinks about this
Andrew Zimmern. Also sure, I'd probably give these a shot. I already eat shellfish which are basically sea bugs.
apparently tarantulas taste really nice when cooked properly. Like crab almost since well that's practically what they are. I dunno about just putting the entire body in my mouth but if it was just legs I could munch on I would
You only eat the legs. They sell them in Cambodia because they've been eating them there since the 60's. The Khmer rouge basically starved them so they ate whatever they could get their hands on. Sometimes people eat the body, but as a "joke" people will tell foreigners to eat it. Apparently it's like eating a big ball filled with a warm paste. However, i'd eat the Grubs and Crickets. Friend crickets are literally like chips, and i'd like to imagine that grubs are a little more like sausages. Edit:After watching the video posted above, i realize i may be wrong about eating the abdomen. Maybe it's only certain species?
I'd eat it, when I was over in Thailand a couple of months ago I tried Scorpion, Crickets, and various worms. I really wanted to try the Tarantula, but couldn't find anyone selling it. It literally just tastes like whatever flavouring is put on them, it's not as bad as people might think.
Nice try hiding those bugs behind layers of lies called vegetables and herbs. Not fooling me.

The only real way to get bugs to be eaten by the general public is using them as filler meat for hamburgers and etc.
Is it seriously that fucking hard to process insects to the point where they don't look like one? This is like giving your family a turkey to eat without pulling off the feathers and other parts.

the issue with those foods is that the bugs still look like bugs. you might have a dead spider on your plate that looks like a living spider resting on your wall, just because it doesn't move.
Even coating a bug in chocolate won't tempt me to eat it.
It looks delicious. I have no idea what to expect of course, but I have no reservations against eating something that was properly prepared. It's silly to be squeamish about an abundant food source.
I've eaten what Hotlix candy has to offer. Scorpion/cricket lollipops, cheddar grubs, chocolate ants, and other tasty bug snacks. Wouldn't mind snacking on a deep fried tarantula, tastes like crab? Count me in.
I'll pass.
I could go for a fried tarantula, looks yummy.
I get sick of eating something that looks like the animal the meat is made from. Especially if it is a goddamn spider. Remove the body and maybe I'd eat it.
Canned silkworm pupae, anyone?
I have nothing against eating bugs, but that way they're displayed doesn't help. Wouldn't help any food in particular.
In the next couple decades we'll be seeing ground insect patties I bet, breeding livestock produces too much pollution so we're going to have to stop doing it eventually
Ill take lab grown meat instead thank you very much.
