The most edible-looking bugs I've seen are velvet worms It just looks like candy.
Apparently, fried tarantula legs taste like crab meat.
I always found spiders the most delicious looking insects to eat but now I've heard of THIS? GOD I NEED TO GET SOME FAST
Canned silkworm pupae, anyone?
oh my god what the fuck [editline]19th July 2013[/editline] WHY DFHGDFAHHFADHADHFDH
I'd eat the spider if I knew it wasn't actually a fucking spider.
I'd try it
Wouldnt might trying one.
I'd eat it, but I was pretty open to the prospect before I ever saw the photos anyway, so it still didn't change my mind.
i'd try the tarantula but the others are pretty horrifying
It looks delicious. I have no idea what to expect of course, but I have no reservations against eating something that was properly prepared. It's silly to be squeamish about an abundant food source.
Not really, in western culture we're basically raised with the belief that bugs are filthy disgusting creatures coated with germs. Overall they just look creepy and gross to us. It's not silly to have an aversion to something that you were basically raised to have an aversion to.
oh god no I have entomophobia this is fucked up
-snipped for people who don't like seeing it- Canned silkworm pupae, anyone?
Oh man, I used to eat this all the time when I was a kid.
I'l pass.
I'd have to get used to eating crickets and spider legs before I eat a whole spider or a grub. On the other hand, if the grub were coated in batter and made to look like fried prawn, I'd eat it
I've tried these before. The crunch it made scared the shit out of me.
I wouldn't have any trouble eating those considering what I've stuffed my mouth with.
I'd give it a try, it seems pretty acceptable to me.
I would be willing to eat bugs, but probably nothing too extreme like a tarantula or centipede.
This looks really nice. Although whenever we start farming Giant Isopods let me know. They look delicious.
I'd rather that the insects stay off my plate and in the garden where they will do actual work.
it looks cute but is it vegan??? idk
how could you possibly think eating an animal would be vegan
I don't know... I'll eat bugs if they're crunchy but give me anything that looks vaguely like it'll pop like a fruit gusher when I bite it and I will avoid it like the plague. I wouldn't mind eating fried tarantula legs since those do look fairly tasty.
how is this news
area man tries to make people eat bugs, more at 11
see i don't know about you guys but i don't particularly like to eat things that are the same shade of green as baby vomit and rotting corpses. that spider looks fine to me though, it's just looks like a gimmicky-shaped crab-flavored crisp
This is what Ramsay has to say about the tarantulas
I wouldn't touch the maggots or whatever but I've eaten crickets before, they're great.
Grind them down into a little paste or something, use that as a filling for some kind of ravioli or whatever. Don't tell me what it's made of directly, either. Give it a fancy name. We've been calling cow brains "Sweetmeats" and duck liver Foi Gras, so we might as well call insect paste Softmeats or something ambiguous. I would cautiously taste Softmeat Ravioli and if it was at least marginally tasty, I would eat it again in the future.
Just like Sweetbreads
Sweetbreads or ris are culinary names for the thymus (also called throat, gullet, or neck sweetbread) or the pancreas (also called heart, stomach, or belly sweetbread) especially of the calf and lamb
[editline]19th July 2013[/editline] It is neither sweet nor bread.
no thanks.
The grubs seem alright
If I was sitting around a table with people and the tarantula was on the table, sure I'd try it (the legs, and thanks to it being deep fried...). I wouldn't eat anything else though, they still look disgusting.
it looks cute but is it vegan??? idk
I don't think bugs are able to process pain or distress so you could easily argue that no animals suffered or were exploited
I would eat grasshopper and crickets if they were fried or deep fried. It's hard to find them disagreeable. There's nothing particularly gross inside their body, and they only eat grass so their stomach contents would be OK. Dust on the exoskeleton would be your only concern as far as cleanliness goes. [editline]20th July 2013[/editline]
I don't think bugs are able to process pain or distress so you could easily argue that no animals suffered or were exploited
Veganism is not about what is sensible or humane to eat
