Why does the ticker keep saying I'm being mentioned in here?
Parents, probably.
I didn't think the ticker was that sensitive to user names, I thought it'd be a bit more accurate.
I blame them for not dealing with this in a better way instead of following the "BAN EVERYTHING" approach.
Lawsuit or let the kids have fun? The schools choice is an obvious one.
"safety" is the perfect excuse
Yep, if you ever want to justify something just say it's for safety reasons.
Yep, if you ever want to justify something just say it's for safety reasons.
Or "National Security" if you're in the big leagues.
The junior high which is connected to the highschool in my town gives you detentions for holding hands or hugging. On the basis that it leads to pregnancy. Fucking backwards ass schools.
I don't like people touching me, but this is outright ridiculous.
Sheltering children like this is child abuse and it makes me sick.
They should ban running too, you could fall over and scrape your knees.

Why would anyone sue a school because their kid got a boo-boo
This might seem crazy to you people but when I was in grade school they were showing signs of these out outrageous bans by banning snowmen, snow forts, snowball fights (I can at least understand this one a bit), tag and pretty much anything that appeared to be rough housing. It was annoying as shit. Hell there was a time I was suspended for destroying someones snow fort...when I wasn't even at school that day! The principal decided to go out herself and destroy all snow forts while everyone was in class. Sure showed us..I guess?
Jesus christ, and I thought MY generation was sheltered.

My school did actually ban running on the playground in 6th grade.
They never even announced it, I didn't know until a teacher told me and my friend to stop running or we would get in trouble. We walked away, but then the teacher called us inside because she thought we were running and we were forced to sit inside until recess as over.

Last day of Grade 8. Just got back from a field trip. Teacher said we can spend the rest of the day in recess which was about 30 minutes. Someone dropped an empty skittles bag on the back of the bus, half a foot from the garbage. I was blamed for it and was told that if I don't admit to it and apologize for it everyone will have to stay in rather than get recess. Everyone told me to fess up and after a while of getting dirty glares I decided to do it just to shut everyone up and go outside. Well once I did that I had to stand against a fucking wall while everyone else played. To this day I regret taking the blame for those assholes.
What kind of sick person bans light saber battles? You don't even touch each-other unless you're stabbing it into the other guy. Trust me, I'm an expert on this stuff.

Gets them money and attention.
A little bit of childhood injuries builds character.
Imaginary Violence is a very serious threat to our children in these times. Thank goodness the school administrators realized this and banned all undesirable, unproductive activity. Now our children can be more focused on homework instead of worrying about dangers like being chased by other young maniacs wanting to touch our children for no discernible reason.
Its a dangerous world for tots today. One minute your girl is minding her own business, and the next an equally young madman from another parent assaults her liver and kills her.
Or "National Security" if you're in the big leagues.
Preventing kids from touching eachother is in the interest of national security. Diseases, etc.
What the fuck
this place shouldn't exist
Banning physical contact during the most important developmental years of a child's life is blatant child abuse

Write an angry email to the school board about it.

I have never heard of that, i fell over multiple times in elementary, i got some disinfectant on the wound, a band and then i was ready for play again. My parents never really cared other than "oh."
They might have cooties.
Or polio.
"The letter states that the ban was put in place as a result of several playground injuries over the past few weeks due to games and other hands-on play during recess."
Just as a reminder, that kind of stuff always happens.

I grew up in a private school for rich people didn't mean we had pansy ass shit rules like this.
I genuinely feel sorry for the next generation, they're going to be so fucking sheltered and hopeless when they grow up. Perfect for the government of course because they'll be directly under their control.
Jesus, by the time I raise my own kids I'm probably going to get endless amounts of shit for not "Ensuring their safety" every time I let them play outside without a gps tracker.

My elementary school actually banned running when I was in it. You should've seen the parents react, they were so damn pissed.
