It's easy to say "they should kill him" when none of us can even IMAGINE what the parents must be going through.

fuck the parents. allowing this child to live in such pain is child abuse
Ugh, this defeatist attitude that FP has. Watch the video, he's not in endless torment, he still smiles.
fuck the parents. allowing this child to live in such pain is child abuse
Judging from the video the child seems awfully happy at times. Laughing and smiling like a normal baby would.
Even though the baby is in pain it doesn't take away the fact that the baby doesn't want anything more in the world than to be held by his parents and be loved by his parents. He doesn't realize that he's going to die. He's feels the pain, but that's deffinately not all he is feeling that for sure.
That's horrible. Isn't there anything close to a cure or something that can at least make it not as bad?
Goddamn, what is it with everyone saying "KILL HIM!"? Do you honestly think the parents want to get their child killed?
He is missing a protein that binds one layer of skin to another.
This kind of stuff really makes me understand how fragile and imperfect our bodies are. Missing one protein can put somebody through endless torture like this poor kid. This is absolutely terrible the fact that anyone has to deal with this is immensely depressing.

He's going to die anyway, it's best if it ends the pain early. It's the right thing to do, but the mere thought of it would be terrible for any parent. I definitely don't envy anyone involved in this.
Ignorance is bliss.
I'm talking about the baby, look at him, so close to death, probably wont make it to 3 yet he's so damn fucking happy in the video because he doesn't understand death or what's going on with him.
That's horrible. Isn't there anything close to a cure or something that can at least make it not as bad?
There are several under research. The most promising cure, uses bone marrow transplants from a compatible donor, and has shown a complete regeneration of connective dermal tissues in all subjects. The issues lies within the immunosuppression required to receive the transplant, which raises the risk of infection to deadly levels

It's definitely easy to kill your own kid...

well technically it is, but...

It's also amazing how it get's it right most of the time.
Why the hell are they keeping him alive? They're not doing him a favour.

Wouldn't it be a fucked up situation if you killed your child and a few months later a cure would've been found?
I wish there was a cure oh my god, that poor baby.

You are saying it like one protein is unimportant. Ofcourse our bodies are imperfect when they're missing something.
Wouldn't it be a fucked up situation if you killed your child and a few months later a cure would've been found?
Cures do not appear from miracles. There's like 1 in a thousand or more chance a cure will appear. Making him suffer "just because" is not really a good decision.
I honestly want to cry, this is terrible.
I wouldn't know what to do if I was the parents, it is remarkable that he has lived thus far. He has been with them for two years so I imagine it's a bit hard to think "oh well let's put him down."
In the video he seems like a normal child in the way he acts. Smiling and laughing.
Maybe he got used to the pain, or can't comprehend it, but since he probably is going to die young, might as well make his short life enjoyable, as far as you can take it.
Fuck, this is really upsetting man.

I know that, but seeing that there is already a promising cure on the way I myself couldn't be made to kill my own child if there is even a chance of a cure in the near future.
thats a baby ghoul right there
The combination of knowing he's in constant pain yet still is able to smile and laugh is really getting to me.
I feel awful he has to live like that. In my opinion, as sad as it may be, I think he should be euthenized so he won't have to continue suffering in horrible agony like that.
Oh fucking hell that's one horrible disease.
Christ, I can't even imagine how it would feel to have pain from any kind of touch to the skin. That's continuous torture, mentally and physically
You are saying it like one protein is unimportant. Ofcourse our bodies are imperfect when they're missing something.

I know, it's just amazing what can happen when even one thing is off. Puts it into perspective, is all.
Why the hell are they keeping him alive? They're not doing him a favour.
Because it's an incredibly difficult decision and one impossible to really understand unless you've had a child. It's so much more then just, "My child's suffering yet is still capable of periods of happiness and comfort, he's suffering more often then not and will die shortly anyway, so might as well end it now."
Saw this in a newspaper, the reason he seems so happy is because he basically lives of morphine.
That's fucking gnarly dude
This is horrible... Im not a sick person or anything and i want him to be better but to be honest i think it would be better for him to die instead of suffering this bad...
Oh wow, the attitude in this thread is hilarious.
Some of you posters would fit right in with Hitler and Stalin.
It sounds really horrible to say this, but it would be so much better for that baby if they ended his life earlier because as he gets older it will get harder and all the more painful for him.
ITT everyone thinks they know better than the parents. It warms my heart to see how happy the baby can be, and it's pretty obvious that he's brought a new world of happiness to his mom as well, simply because he's her son, regardless of the tragic circumstances.
