I never thought the birth of Slaanesh would happen within my lifetime
Rather than dropping big artist names that everybody can spew out at any arguement. I like to call art things that make me go "Wow!, how did that person do this?" Something that stimulates my creative energy to bring my own skill to the next level. Leon, I don't think i can argue why this is good or bad art because i do not consider it to be art. I do indeed love art with a passion, thats why i feel the need to defend what is important to the culture of what has been and what is to come. I really wish there was some sort of chat function. It would be much easier to debate rather than posting over and over. You're very welcome.
i wish you had any idea about art history in the slightest...
Just an an excuse to be a flamboyant clown about his lifestyle.
judging by the responses in this thread, the piece worked! it certainly garnered a response.
Art's bullshit.
can we jack off in the audience for the artistic value?
it's always funny when people who don't appreciate art are the first ones to try define what it is and isn't
it's always funny when people who don't appreciate art are the first ones to try define what it is and isn't
It's always funny how people say that art is completely subjective and then tell other people that their opinions about art are wrong. If it's subjective then their opinion of it not being art is just as correct as yours.
If it's subjective then their opinion of it not being art is just as correct as yours.
The subjective aspect of art is how people feel about the expression itself. The only moaning that happened in this thread was the use of the word... it's pathetic.
So is he bottoming or topping? I don't consider topping another man as really losing your virginity, hes gotta ride that bitch if he really wants to lose it
That's going to be one awkward applause
It's easier to say that the segment is art without any technical skill or innovation put into it.
I'm actually interested in this concept. I feel like half the bashing is just your general SH crowd and the rest is people who are secretly mad/closed minded but don't want to seem like it cause "what is facepunch thinks i'm a loser"

honestly I've heard of more avant-garde and pompous art acts than this
The self-immolation of the Buddhist Monks wasn't to spark controversy, but more or less to raise awareness in a form of protest. This whole having sex in front of a live audience is just odd to me, and I think in reality it's just to garner attention. I personally feel that people should keep their sexual acts to themselves and their own private places. It doesn't matter if it's heterosexual or homosexual fornication, it should remain personal. I don't know if this sounds barbaric or unprogressive of me, but the idea of having sexual relations in front of a group of people and calling it ~Artsy~ is just silly. I'm all for art being subjective, but it's like people are purposely trying to find new ways to put less effort into "Art".
holy shit, he can totally make a political statement if the fucker is dressed up as obama and he the fuckee has a shirt that says you. or anything else
Because porn stars get grades. Right.
Whether someone is being graded on it or not has no bearing on the performance itself. Porn stars get money, so one could easily argue that porn is cheapened even further.
Too much modern art relies on foreknowledge. Like I went to the Art Institute of Chicago and in the corner there's a big pile of wrapped candy. It's not roped off or contained in anyway. Pile of candy in corner. This elicits no emotional response other than "shit that's a lot of candy where candy shouldn't be" But apparently there's this entire story about how it's a tribute to the artist's friend who died of an AIDS related illness, the candy is his exact body weight and you're supposed to take some candy to represent the weight loss as he died. Okay, still a stretch but I get it. Sure lots of art has deeper meaning than its surface value but at least it has surface value. Now you have to read a paragraph to even feel an emotion looking at art. Not my thing.
