They really did cut stuff: BioWare Announces Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut
So basically they made the full game, then EA is greedy so they said to cut some parts out so they can release a downloadable content of the "uncut version".
No, they cut some stuff because they figured the ending they included would be good enough for fans and were incredibly wrong. Now they're hoping to make it better by still sticking us with the same shitty ending, but with a little bit of extra footage thrown in.
Am I the only one that suspected the ME series was going to hit a shitter when they hired Zachariah from LitFuse films?

Sure sounds like a swell guy, he removed me from MSN for trying to start a conversation. Really if it wasn't for me taking the time to model hack citizen heads onto metrocop bodies, I doubt he'd be this far in life. I mean sure he had the talent for Machinema, but the series that made LitFuse and him was Combine Nation, then he shat on it when he got a job at Bioware.
Purely speculative, but you do speculate when game companies hire this brand of person and then promise AAA content and deliver a game that is at most a C in the storyline department.

Posts like this confirm my belief that barely anybody here knows how the hell game development works. "Cut" content doesn't mean the content was finished, it just means it was removed for whatever reason. With a game like ME, where there are quite a few possibilities in how the story will end up it makes sense that they may have had trouble with time constraints, especially under a publisher like EA who will have already decided that the game needs to launch on x day for max profit.
Cut content could be;
* Unfinished content that was completed after publishing
* Content that hadn't been fully tested or implemented
* A idea the developer had post launch
* A idea that the developer didn't like and removed
* And last but not least, content actually removed for use in DLC.
Most cut content is not the last at all. Developers actually know how we feel as the players, they know it would suck to have content in the game used for DLC when they built it for the main game. But at the same time, it's their game and choices in the storyline and gameplay are theirs, which may be why Bioware thought the ending was acceptable. The "Continue with DLC" thing that pops up at the end doesn't mean they intended to release a "better" ending, it just means they had some idea for DLC that they couldn't add to the game in the given development time easily.
So, whenever you see "day 1" DLC, don't instantly think they have removed a chunk of "your" game. A lot of this DLC is stuff the developer developed during the testing phases and publishing phases of the game. Stop being paranoid, unless the DLC actually looks like it fills in a portion of the game where there was a jump in the story that made no sense, it probably wasn't "cut" from the game.
Ha, everyone I know has sold their copy already and is generally upset enough at the ending, that they're not even going to 'youtube it'

That's cool, bioware doesn't care. It's a free update so they don't lose anything if you don't get it.
I don't know how I feel about this. One one hand "Yay, more ME3 and a (possibly) clearer ending!" and yet I didn't feel entirely betrayed by Bioware nor did I think the whole game was ruined because of it.
How the balls did they get this out for free? EA and Microsoft both insist on charging for DLC.
Oh it's free. I'm okay with this.
Who cares, there is no way to salvage that ending even with further explanation. Atleast they were not retarded enough to charge for it.

I think Microsoft allows one free DLC and/or update per game (this is the reason that Valve couldn't make Steam for the 360). As for EA, this helps to cull a PR nightmare for them. They just got The Consumerist's "Golden Poo" for being the worst company of the last year.
Good job Bioware & EA. That's a step in the right direction, but you've got ways to go.

It's funny because his video is pure liquid bullshit, I spoke to Robert Stoneman myself, and he said that it was caused by a HDD Crash.
Plus WoTS and Ignis Solus made LitFuse not Combine Nation.
Well, at least its free.
I was ready to announce that Bioware had sold out like almost everyone else, but there is no price tag on this DLC.
I sincerely doubt that they can improve the ending much without completely replacing it. Regardless, I never cared much since I can't get DLC anyway on my terrible internet connection.
As long as it's free I don't care if they cut content or not.

Mass effect 4: All you get is a title screen for $60. They'll release the rest of the content later in downloadable form, but who gives a shit? It's free!

One step is still nothing when there's a huge marathon ahead.
I bet they're just adding a bunch of different shade of colors to it.
They allow as many free DLCs as you can make afaik, dead rising 2 had a couple free DLC compatibility packs and the costumes for dead rising 1 are free.

The publisher or developer are sometimes willing to take the hit. But MS charge them for hosting and distributing the content over XBL after the first bit of content goes up from how it's been explain in the past.
I still don't see why[sp] every machine has to be killed. It's not like we know the exact frequency that Reapers operate at (we do). You find it out if you do a side mission for The Citadel. I don't know, I just wish blowing up all machine life wasn't an option, because it shouldn't have to be.[/sp]
It's a cheap way at making sure there's no obvious "best" ending. If it wasn't for that everyone would be picking [sp]the Destroy option[/sp].
The Mass Effect series is like a German shepherd puppy that you know with precognitive absolute certainty that you will one day have to watch get run over by a semi truck - you know unspeakable pain is coming, but you don't care because you love it so much.

Most depressing analogy of all time.

No, because some people might have wanted the option to be a dick and destroy everything. Mass Effect is a game about choices, why would they limit us to three?

Im going to be so pissed if this comes out after I ship out.
for no extra charge
FUCK YES
Holy fuck guys what do you want from them? They give a you a new ending and you're all (most) still complaining?
Holy fuck guys what do you want from them? They give a you a new ending and you're all (most) still complaining?
They're not making an entirely new ending, they're just extending the existing ones.

Key word is "Extended."
Ending still sucks balls.
