Why would they pick it up, unload it, and put it back on the ground?
2 reasons. 1 as a former police officer the first thing I would want to do when I disarm someone is remove any ammunition from the gun. reason 2 .... as current executive protection supervisor after knowing my men disarmed the gun I would tell them to put it on the ground and leave it for police crime scene investigators and advise them what we did. they will want finger prints and carbon tests on the weapon and want to know exactly how close the gun was when the shooter was disarmed for court reasons. Even as a cop being on many crime scenes in the past the weapon needs to be were it fell for the investigaton. [editline]21st January 2013[/editline]
Couldn't you google it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gas_pistol And why would he pick it up, remove the magazine and eject the loaded bullet and then drop it back down on the floor? [editline]21st January 2013[/editline] No, it wasn't. It probably went through Youtube's stabilizing filter first, which is why it appears like that.
read my above post =) and thank you for refering to google for me, wasnt sure what that was. =P

Yeah, sorry - that's bullshit. It still doesn't make sense. The fight was still ongoing when the pistol was shown in frame. There is no discernible reason in the world why you'd pick the gun and then put it back down on the ground. It just makes zero sense.

I was a cop in New Jersey where those types of guns are not legal here anyways.. [editline]21st January 2013[/editline] I just gave you the reason.. beacuse you dont understand it doesnt make it not true =/ .... that is basic police procedures. and as I said working in the executive protection field I know what the police coming on scene would want

It can kill. I just don't see any cop worth his weight in salt not knowing what a deadly weapon is. There was no police on the scene. The shot with the empty gun is literally 25 seconds into the video.

THE POLICE WOULD BE coming on the scene very shortly and thats exactly how it would work here in america so I am sure its what they were thinking. [editline]21st January 2013[/editline] it only takes 2-5 seconds to clear a weapon

But what kind of police officer doesn't know what a type of gun commonly found on the street is? It uses gunpowder, fires shots, can maim and kill and is sold without a license. It's not a toy. And again, the shot of the empty gun is 25 seconds in the video. Why is the gun empty when the bodyguards are still busy subduing the attacker and the cops probably don't even know about the accident? Further more, why (as I pointed out earlier and posted a still from another camera) is the gun's hammer not cocked when the assailant goes for the shot?

I never once in my career saw anything like that ever.. Gas gun.. sorry. Maybe were you live they are common, doesn't mean its common here. I haven't looked at any of those videos and wasn't arguing that the gun wasn't empty from the start I was just answering the question as to why the gun was on the floor with no magazine and from my own experience in the field what we would do. Until the police get there you keep the scene as preserved as possible. doesn't matter if its 3 hours. you preserve it. I am sure he had tons of bodyguards there.. to have 1 or 2 of them standing over the gun is not a huge issue when you see 15 others on top of the attacker.

The rest of the crowd that's over him is from the audience. The bodyguards are right there in that crowd that's bunched over the guy - they're trying to subdue him.

I am just letting you know from experience how it's done in America because you dont like it or have other reasons in your own head for why it doesn't make sense doesnt make it not true.. MANY LAWS AND THINGS we do in this country dont make sense but procedure wise it's how they are done. Maybe it was a political stunt and from the start the gun was empty.. WHO KNOWS
