Nobody wants to nuke anyone because nobody wants to occuppy radioactive craters
I wonder if they realize just how suicidal a war would be? Seriously, you want a preview of what happens when the war resumes? NK starts shelling Seoul, maybe firing off a short-range nuke or two, which are promptly shot down by the AEGIS cruisers America conveniently has in the region at all times just in case the shit hits the fan. Then SK and the US 2nd Infantry mow down the incoming NK armies, probably move in and invade with about as much resistance as we saw in Iraq. The bulk of the NK forces will be defeated within a day or so - I expect they will move slowly once they take any part of NK within artillery range of SK, as the last time this happened, China got spooked when we got too close and turned the war around.
Without much resistance? Shit son keep dreaming. [editline]8th March 2013[/editline]
Nobody wants to nuke anyone because nobody wants to occuppy radioactive craters
Fallout with modern weapons is minimal dude, modern weapons are pretty clean as far as fallout goes and it's a lot less if you actually drop an airburst instead of hitting the ground and throwing up a ton of irradiated dirt and glass.
North Korea isn't a huge threat now that China isn't their direct ally any more.
They have a lot of uranium. A nuclear winter could be possible if the fuck up. It's not necessarily the safety of the US I'm concerned about-- it's the people in korea as a whole. Enough local nukes would contaminate the local atmosphere pretty badly.
They don't have alot of uranium, and that's not how it works. You can irradiate the area, but the atmosphere would be fine.
China is calling for both sides to remain calm. It seems unlikely that they'll back the NK if war breaks out. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-21713340
They barely learned to make ballistic missiles, they can't have that many. And I'm pretty sure that even if all the nuclear bombs in the world went off the atmosphere would still be in place
Nuclear explosions in the atmosphere would create EMP's that have about the area size of 50 times Hiroshima Radioactive radius. so a EMP above Canada would affect florida [editline]8th March 2013[/editline]
;39842116']They don't have alot of uranium, and that's not how it works.
are we talking about the atmosphere or EMP?
a nuke in the atmosphere would create an EMP
North Korea seems to be out of control now. This is getting a bit worrisome of what they're all doing, WWIII anyone?
WW3 would require sizeable national blocks to show up and form. It would also require for the instagator to be politically, economically and militarily strong in order to actually get some traction in the first place. NK has a relatively strong military body wise but they don't fullfill any of other other requirements. If they do launch an attack on SK, we might expect two things to happen. The price of phones and tv would go up by a fair bit. A few other economically related things. And NATO would most likely deploy aided by China and Russia.
They barely learned to make ballistic missiles, they can't have that many. And I'm pretty sure that even if all the nuclear bombs in the world went off the atmosphere would still be in place
Unless I forgot, they have a pretty sizeble soviet stockpile. Enough to have sold some to Iran I think.
Didnt knew there are atomic emps. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_pulse#Generation_of_nuclear_EMP
Didnt knew there are atomic emps. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_pulse#Generation_of_nuclear_EMP
and that means you dont know enough to prepare you stuff against it, like i do, 3 layers of 5 cm lead protecting my generators and my electronics
and that means you dont know enough to prepare you stuff against it, like i do, 3 layers of 5 cm lead protecting my generators and my electronics
oh wow i am impressed you have impressed me an impression has been left upon me
and that means you dont know enough to prepare you stuff against it, like i do, 3 layers of 5 cm lead protecting my generators and my electronics
In other words, 15cm of useless shit on your electric stuff.
reading this now: http://www.amazon.com/Pyongyang-Journey-North-Guy-Delisle/dp/1897299214 it's really really interesting. I decided to read it since of all this stuff going on.
and that means you dont know enough to prepare you stuff against it, like i do, 3 layers of 5 cm lead protecting my generators and my electronics
leel Sorry to say man, but an EMP isn't going to be stopped by lead, an EMP will still effect your electronics because an EMP induces a current in wires, so your shit's still gonna get fried.
Why didn't they just unplug the damned telephones?
Just more tiny dick waving, nothing to see here. They're just gonna keep doing whatever they can think of to piss people off but they're never gonna throw the first punch.
and that means you dont know enough to prepare you stuff against it, like i do, 3 layers of 5 cm lead protecting my generators and my electronics
i have a quick question are you trolling or just retarded?
i have a quick question are you trolling or just retarded?
Those two usually walk hand in hand.
But Kim Jong Un told him "I don't want to do war"
but guess what. Guess what.
I believe that all of this what is happening, is partially to strenghten the position and image of Kim Jong-un. Even though the NK is batshit insane, they aren't so dumb, that they would start a war which would risk all of what they are; A totalitarian, (''Stalinist'') dictatorship with an elaborate cult around the Kim family. Their army's size is pretty much counted by every man that is of proper age to carry a gun, as they have conscription (mobilization problems). They simply cannot have enough equipment and food to keep their army running. They estimately have small storages of fuel, which would be an essential resource for any ''modern'' army to be able to operate. They have and they would use their highly trained units, backed by their reserves. No doubt that their disciplined units can do some damage. Korean People's Army would also use unconventional warfare when necessary, because of the technological advantage of their enemies.
and that means you dont know enough to prepare you stuff against it, like i do, 3 layers of 5 cm lead protecting my generators and my electronics
weirdo
and that means you dont know enough to prepare you stuff against it, like i do, 3 layers of 5 cm lead protecting my generators and my electronics
If you're going to be preparing for a future hypothetical EMP get a Faraday cage. Lead won't do dick.
It's not wrong, it's just silly.
Might I ask why it's silly?
If you're going to be preparing for a future hypothetical EMP get a Faraday cage. Lead won't do dick.
Within 20 years Houses are going to have Faraday Cages built in the walls I bet. Wish mine was
Pretty much.
We've already got the Eighth Army over there. Mainly the Second Infantry Division, which despite the name includes everything from infantry to armor to aviation, even special forces and signals. So yeah, we don't need to "get there". We're already there, and by the time we get reinforcements, the war will be won.
Actually think of it like this. We have 30k troops over there. they have 2.4m. We can't hold them off, It'll take possibly weeks even with air superiority to just get there. By the time we get reinforcements, yes, the war would be won, but with most of our troops killed or destitute. That's if they brute their way down there, which is most likely given the mobilization they've been doing recently. count in the SK army, we have around 750k. people don't seem to understand a weapon is a weapon. it can still kill even if it's not new, or even if it's not the best. Hell there's a ton of weapons from the Taliban that are from the 1940's but they still can kill or maim. It's best not to underestimate them when it comes to pure military power.
SPOILERS: They only just cut the hotline a few hours ago. The previous days were OH WE ARE TOTALLY GOING TO DO IT BUT HAVEN'T YET NOW WHO IS THE WINNER IN THIS DICK WAVING CONTEST?!
