We don't have equality? How many Muslim tweets calling for violence and beheading do you think get past the police compared to native British tweets calling for lynchings and arson?
Two others have been arrested under the Public Order Act on suspicion of inciting racial or religious hatred. The police are now arresting people based on mere speech in social media, a detective said in a statement to the press:
I've yet to hear of an "Act" that actually promotes freedom. They are always for "safety" and people get fucked over by those.

oh no, i can no longer threaten to blow up a Mosque! you can't even go out and decapitate a Muslim with a shovel anymore! what kind of shambles is this country coming to i tell you
Yay lets pass more Orwellian laws.
Not that I would condone tarring all followers of a particular religion with the same brush just because some crazy guy who identified as one of them beheaded a member of the military...
fyi if a Muslim dude said "someone go blow up a church" they would be fucking arrested, their house searched, and their activities monitored for some time to come. you're getting off pretty lightly in comparison
I'm fairly sure that inciting racial or religious hatred or making any kind of unpleasant comments towards any particular group or person has always been illegal here. It's just that at after the current events, such cases have increased as the tensions between different groups have been very... well, tense.
Don't be upset! Take a soma!

Take the edge off.

Okay. Last time I ever post in a political thread, or anything close to it. I can't argument worth shit, and even if I mean something good, people will take it as.. well, as Cone said.

seriously, if i said "kill all Christians, there is no innocent white man," what would you say? it's not about being a good debater, it's about not being a fucking racist. think it through.

unregulated freedom of speech is dumb as heck

If you've read 1984, you'll see that 'Orwellian' is more nationalistic and xenophobic; it would be crimethink to think that foreigners are anything other than monsters that deserve to be exterminated and controlled.
And besides, this has been part of the law for years.
Help help! The Muslims are repressing me!
And what about your extremist preachers? They aren't getting arrested? The main reason their are extremists and radicals in Britain is because we don't stop them at the source with the preachers.
Probably because they're not stupid enough to post stuff on social media where it's viewable by everyone and easy to track.

Biles, do your own homework.

And they're likely not chanting about how they should just go murder a certain group.
Idiots on both sides.
Idiots on both sides.
there really aren't though. i mean sure there always are one or two, but that doesn't really bear mentioning when on the one side you've got people threatening to brutalize Muslims with gardening equipment, and on the other you've got people who wouldn't do that because they're not fucking crazy. see, the decision between being a sociopathic xenophobe and being a normal person is not something that you can (or should) remain neutral about.

2 idiots on one side still makes my statement true, semantically speaking.
Arresting people for though and speech crimes, well, might seem like a good idea, but let's be honest, I doubt anyone actually considering taking action would announce it on social media.
So the government is basically promoting terrorism we might as well of surrendered to the nazis

You'll need to explain this one to me.

maybe not, but such a pervasive air of xenophobia can be dangerous. i mean, when you've got so many people supporting outright violence against Muslims, it's inevitable that someone will eventually follow through with some of it. obviously we'll always have that kind of racially charged violence, but the best that can be done is to try and nip it in the bud now before groups like the EDL gain too much traction.
I know some of you are going to take this the wrong way but this is really stupid, we have a few muslims over here who say stuff about how all white people need to die and general death threats (behead all nonbelievers etc) and they're actually protected by police whereas when people are anti-muslim they get arrested? I don't like picking sides and alot of the hate is misguided but what happened to freedom of speech
In Singapore, if you openly insult any religion with intention to cause hatred and ill-will, you will get arrested and charged under the sedition act. Freedom of Speech does not entitled you to go around insulting people's religion, culture and race.

If people get offended by this they really need to grow the fuck up
"I hate muslims" should not be illegal, "I'm going to kill muslims" should. Not ignoring context of course.
disgusting
Wow. This pisses me off.

In this video (BBC, 2012), thousands of Muslims in the UK are clearly shouting 'British police go to hell!'
Yet, when the tables are turned and Islam is criticised, suddenly arrests are made.
Fucking stupid.
What are the freedom of speech laws in the UK?
I'm sorry what? You come from america.
A country where if a Muslim said they want to blow up or kill white Christians they end up in Guantanamo Bay indefinitely with no trial and tortured.

Different groups are treated differently. The government doesn't want to incite Islamic violence so they grant them more leniency when it comes to hate laws.

Since when have people been arrested for criticism of Islam here?
Oh hey it's my town, that place is a shithole.
