Huge leak reveals how the world's rich and powerful hide their money and dodge sanctions/taxes

Bear in mind, folks, this is just the beginning; they've only just gotten a hold of this thing.
We're gonna be seeing more from this for a while, I think.
One of the scary things is that this is just one bank.
We've only seen the tip of the iceberg.
I want to emphasize this, in particular, this.
While this bank dealt with a large number of particular figures, there's no reason to imagine that the rich and corrupt from places like the U.S., the U.K., Germany, and so on don't use different banks for similar schemes.
That said, it's good to discover more of this sort of thing, no matter who's it is.

"Yeah bullshit, you're a crackpot." - Everyone else
Everybody has known the rich can basically do whatever they want, its just nobody has especially cared until recently because the middle-class has gotten fucked out of existence and the rich have made even more massive gains off it.

I might add that the "crackpots" also have been yelling that it will get worse and that inequality will lead to a sort of neo-humanist corporate fascism. But, hey, that's crazy right?
One of the banks that a bunch of rich people use to launder money and do illegal shit got all their files leaked. Now we know exactly what a bunch of people are up to behind the scenes. Some of those people are going to be in a lot of trouble, others can just hide in countries like Russia etc
Imagine if the swiss banks got leaked too. It'll be even bigger

This is the problem with broadcasting the truth, if you are marked as a 'conspiracy theorist' anything you say has no real worth no matter your backing.
I might add that the "crackpots" also have been yelling that it will get worse and that inequality will lead to a sort of neo-humanist corporate fascism. But, hey, that's crazy right?
No, because plenty of people have said these without making shit etchings on the walls of a trailer and yelling at their landlord about how he isn't going to pay his rent that month because Buzz Aldrin punched him and his Moon Landing Hoax book sales tanked.
As an aside, I know what you're trying to do, its funny but not going to work.

They're monkeys and type writers, they spew so much that eventually something will come out right. In the end crackpots and crazy theories usually don't lend credibility to real problems
Absolutely not. The US companies hide tons of money offshore. They lobby agencies like the IRS to write more favorable agency rules and find loopholes in order to store stuff like 2.1 trillion perfectly legally: http://www.cnbc.com/2015/10/06/us-companies-holding-21-trillion-offshore-profits.html
I said politicians not companies, everyone knows how badly they abuse the system. But outside some bad apples a person like U.S President can't launder embezzled taxpayer funds like a lot of these in their equivalent office are doing.
Iceland's prime minister might be the first casualty
Considering how we absolutely HATE this sort of bullshit since the Kitchenware Revolution. Probably.
Well shit this is huge.
About time this boring ass country had the spotlight on some huge controversy.
I really hope nobody forgets about this in 6 months.
Prime minister of Iceland has already been confronted. Can't find the whole interview.

Even if it was nothing, with this reaction he's done for politically speaking. There's just no way he can recover from this.
About time they start cutting into this cheese bullshit.
What is it with this ridiculous obsession with the rich to keep accumulating wealth.
At a certain point it stops mattering how much more you will get, you won't spend in in your lifetime.
No doubt we will start hearing this excuse a lot: ''I wasn't aware of this, my accountant this this for me.''
Everybody's goddamn in it, why wouldn't they be?
It's not just in it for cash, but this shit runs so deep it's flat-out criminal and if you admit that you're a filthy criminal or you know about this, you're gonna be in a world of pain, but not as much as the ones you know and love.
This is it, this is proof that no body of authority, no government, nothing really matters. It's all hooked with small and big lures, all wriggling together in this cesspool of some weird circle of couple of thousand or maybe even less, against the mass of growing billions.
The whole concept and idea of say, Medieval Nobility, privileged few living off the tireless work of many, never disappeared, it just changed from robes, to powdered wigs and then to ties and suits.
It's not going to die. It's not just a system, it's tradition and culture now, it's part of history, a lineage, literally passed down from one generation to another. The silver spoon is holding pretty fine after all these years. But silver can easily, easily bend and break.
Still, who's gonna do anything? We all know it's better to live as sheep, occasionally bleating once in a while to feel better. No one wants to use their horns for anything. I'm no better too.

THIS IS INSANE.

Also, surprised Trump is nowhere in these lists being the big money lover he is.
Also, surprised Trump is nowhere in these lists being the big money lover he is.
All that means is that he didn't use this place.

He just might be in there somewhere, its a lot of paperwork to cover. Hillary could easily be in there too.
In a perfect world, this sort of shit should get these characters scorned out of public life, get their assets seized and possibly result in jailtime. But these people practically own the world, so it'd be my guess that fuck-all will happen to them.

Plenty of people want to. It's just that nobody is willing to organize anything and make the first move. We're hurting and we're tired, even here in the West where we live affluent, spoiled lives full of luxuries that we take for granted in a societal structure that revolves around consumerism. It's just that we're not in agony and exhausted yet that we've finally reached a point where we realize we have nothing left to lose and the old order of things has got to be done away with. We still for the most part have comfortable enough lives. We have access to running water, food, a little bit of money (though not nearly enough), a few job opportunities here and there... for what glaring inequalities there are here (which do need to be addressed), we live very comfortable lives considering the international situation in places like Asia, Africa, South America, etc. (the Third World, in short).
I really hope the future gets bleak. Not in the sense that the old order will have a firm domination over us as it presently does, but in the sense that we start suffering more and more economic calamities and begin seriously suffering from the effects of climate change. When people are absolutely poor, start lacking the bare essentials, and when they feel like life is horrible, then they get desperate. That's when you see change happen-- if not from the hand of the forces in power, then from the people themselves. Elites don't seem to realize from history that you can only give ordinary people so much shit before they finally say enough is enough and start partying like it's 1789 all over again. And the odds of them getting out alive are not good, since people like us make up the bulk of society and therefore seriously outnumber them and their families.
It's going to be a fun (in the sense of being the best worst time of our lives) and interesting future for our generation, that much is guaranteed no matter how we may fantasize and imagine things will play out at the moment.

Holy shit did they just suddenly whip the name of his illegal company out of nowhere and ask him what he knew about it? Fucking ruthless, there's no way he could formulate a politically savvy response to that with zero preparation and without even knowing how much the interviewer knows. Not surprised he just noped the fuck out. RIP.
Actually someone made a point if a US politician gets in their re-election campaign is over. And This would actually still be illegal and can be still prosecuted, because it would mean government money is being stolen.

this is easily one of the more disgustingly misanthropic things i've read recently
it betrays a great ignorance of history and assumes "in order to make things better we must make them worse"
do you know what eventually happened in the french revolution? they replaced a king with a fucking emperor

Yeah, the French Revolution was nothing if not an utter shitshow, that's for sure. No one should want that to be repeated again.
All of the people in this scandal are actually trying to make things worse for the poor so that they will revolt and improve the world, they are the heroes we need

major social unrest is in our future, it isn't a good thing but it is seeming more and more likely to happen than not

I don't disagree with you that it's a bad thing to wish for
But it's coming.
Serious bouts of civil unrest will hit when the climate shifts to more warm temperature(should be noted higher temperatures are associated with higher degrees of riots and civil unrest) let alone to deal with the ever growing wealth disparity.
Poor people are less poor than ever, with access to food, information, water, technology, but they lack social mobility as much, if not more than ever and people will lose patience with that.
major social unrest is in our future, it isn't a good thing but it is seeming more and more likely to happen than not
major social unrest happens all the time, i don't see why we should be hoping for bad shit to happen on the assumption that good will automatically follow as a consequence
if society really went through massive turmoil because of climate change and resource depletion, that ultimately ended with the mass-murder of millions of rich and powerful people, then we'd be more likely to see the collapse of society than the rise of an equitable and just society

social mobility is virtually static in every society save for periods of warfare and revolution
people can withstand a lot before they cave in, just look at imperial rome. they went through five centuries of terminal socioeconomic decline before the empire finally crumbled to bits
