Police arrest a man for filming them during a raid, and then shoot his dog three times. Man official

i don't even fucking care about the politics here, the video was upsetting; i doubt that anyone disagrees. they shot his dog and carried him off like he had killed somebody. the reason the police force is so hated is because of the lack of empathy.
i fucking removed the dumb part you dolts, you guys are such pushovers.
but when a police officer sees an aggressive dog, they provoke it with aggressive movements and intimidating weapons.
The only provoking that happened here was arresting the owner, which was justified.
And I'm pretty sure that a dog doesn't care how intimidating a gun looks.

I don't think you understand how police should operate.
It wasn't justified, he was recording.

as well as obstructively playing loud music over the car stereo, yelling at the cops, and getting too close for comfort all the while a swat raid is going on.

ok, i see, i didn't think of it that way

He was down the street, the cops walked TOWARDS him.
It's not illegal to play music, yell at cops or be the length of an entire street away from them.
from what i saw, the dog was getting wild but didn't attack until the skinny officer in the long sleeves made a move for it. they had no choice to shoot it but there was a lot of shit that could've been done better

it is when you don't comply with the officer's request to turn off the radio, and then proceed to harass them while a swat raid is in progress.
it's called obstruction.
He shot the dog four times not three.
Also If there was a pitbull fixing to attack me I would shoot it dead. Its my life or it's life.
Just give some general training around dogs, not only for the dog but you're less likely to put an officer in the situation where he has to shoot one, or get attacked. It's just fucking lazy in my eyes to ignore the dog until it's a problem and then you pretty much have to shoot it because you're acting aggressive towards it's owner.
The default position on dogs shouldn't be "ignore it until it's an issue, then shoot it" that's just bad for everyone involved.
i dont think they were anticipating having the dog just jump out of the window like that
For everybody who has expressed the opinion that California cops are a little too trigger happy when it comes to dogs, here's a story about a cop who shot a 13 year old 30 pound Cocker Spaniel. After letting himself into the dogs backyard. Enjoy the response from the police department.
“While we feel bad for the family, bad for the dog, the officer had a right to defend himself,” Concord police say in a written statement. “Because this involves the officer discharging his weapon, the incident is under investigation.”
Grimm says he can’t believe the officer seriously felt threatened by little ole Kirby.
“It’s insane,” Grimm notes. “He’s a dog in his twilight years here. He was 29 pounds when they weighed him at the vet. He’s a cocker spaniel mix. I can’t imagine anyone who would feel threatened by this little animal.”

In any scenario the guy still saw his dog shot dead while he couldn't even move his arms.
He's probably gonna be scarred about it for a looooong while.
Holy shit, life is not a fucking video game where you have hp bars and can just repair any damage with medkits.
Get out of your basement and get some fresh air, jeez.
That's a bold conclusion you just made about me despite only reading one thing from me, ever. I think you need to get some fresh air if you're getting so excited over a news thread on Facepunch.
I still stand behind my opinion that the officer didn't need to use DEADLY force. There were plenty of other officers around him and, again, that WHOLE scenario didn't even need to take place since the dog's owner wasn't doing anything wrong (Not to the point of being handcuffed) which is what lead the dog to become frightened and aggressive.
That's just so fucked up to see. I mean yeah the dog attacked them but they could have just let the man control his dog. No, he had to sit there and watch as his dog was shot right in front of his own fucking eyes. Not to mention it's bullshit for him getting detained in the first place.
They could've tased the dog instead of shooting it, still the owners fault for getting so close to their raid and possibly interfering with the police.
There is literally a hundred things that could have been done, You can say this is justified and blah blah blah, but any dog will protect his owner when he is yelling and being shoved around. We have raised our dog perfectly fine, he is non aggressive, but when we joke around and my girlfriend hits me or something and I start fake yelling for my dog, he comes in my defense and she has to stop. All dogs do this for the ones they love. His owner yelling for them not to shoot is what made his dog go into defense mode after seeing him being man handled. They could have easily been like alright, calm down, go put your dog back in the car, roll the windows up and come back. Yes, the guy was acting ignorant for poking the cops for a reaction, but shooting the dog like that was not necessary. The dog was just jumping forward not vicious yet. If they had just taken a moment, this would not of happened. I would have just took the handcuffs off the dude, because he was clearly compliant, asked him to take care of his dog, and have him come back. If I was that guy, that would be literally be one of the most intense feelings of my life witnessing my dog trying to protect me and being shot and kicking around like that.
And, post below just about sums it up.
This pissed me off and made me feel more upset than it should have done.
I know the dog went for them, but holy fuck I couldn't watch them shoot it.
The SWAT raid was up the block.
Obstruction has absolutly nothing to do with this. You literally have no idea about penal law or policing.
Cops use Obstruction when they want to want to arrest someone but have no real legal grounds to. It's WAY too fucking common.
If you withold evidence or prevent an arrest or investigation, that's obstruction.
Playing loud music to two cops down the block from a raid that was finishing up is not obstruction. They arrested the man for no reason, antagonised his dog, didn't take into account one single fucking factor of scene safety and the mans dog was killed because of it. blaming it on the owner or removing ALL blame from the cops is just being a blind apologist.

He was not "a block" away, he was across the goddamn street.
He was not "a block" away, he was across the goddamn street.
He was on the corner, pretty damn far away. Even then it doesn't change the fact he was not committing obstruction in the slightest.
I know cop apologists are ridiculous but making up charges is a bit overboard even for you guys.
since when was 2/3 houses down considered "up the block"??
For everyone defending that piece of shit cop for shooting the dog, maybe if he wasn't a little fucking pussy hiding behind a gun a badge, he could have handled the situation without shooting the dog. You can tell hes a fucking young rookie cop, its a good thing I wasn't there because I'd be in jail for punching that stupid fucking pig piece of shit in the face. I cant believe how many of you guys are taking the cops side, I mean what the fuck.. wait till you get fucked around by a self righteous gung ho cop and then you wont be licking their fucking assholes.

Just a thought
The guy just got through killing a dog, what makes it any less likely that he's going to kill you for attacking him?
Yeaaaa...

My face lit up reading your post. I'm guessing you're a scrawny short kid who got kicked at the playground.

Are you people going to actually argue a point? Because you've done everything BUT.
can a mod seriously change the title?
it makes people who come into the thread have an already incredibly biased opinion on something that they haven't even read about yet
Or they can just watch the video and see the cops fuck up first hand.

if you've bothered to read the thread (which i doubt you have) you'd realize every single point you're making i've already stated upon.
Rosby said he and Max had spent their last moments together at the Lawndale dog park. The dog kept licking him on the back of the neck in his car as he drove.
"All he did was love me," he said.
