Looks like the Murdoch empire has got another scandal after the News Of The World, potentially even bigger if this person ends up dead because of the actions of one of it's outlets.
Reminds me of this book I've read, I think the guy was a green beret, and the newspaper published his picture. The VC had been holding this guy captive for months, and he'd escaped their wrath by telling them he was a frontline journalist or something like that. These anti-Vietnam fellows saw his picture, cut it out, and mailed it to their 'Support your local VC' club, and he was tortured to death within a week.
I wonder if they are going to report about how they fucked up, and in that case how I'd love to see how they would handle that [editline]25th August 2012[/editline] Had a look right now, can't find a single mention yet
Predicted this from the moment they announced the show. Stupid idiots, PERSEC!
They're making this sound like treason. I remember when some Australian women's magazine outed the location of Prince Harry while he was on a tour of duty in Afghanistan and they copped flak for it. That should be the extent of this as a scandal. The Government will obviously have plans in place for all of these kind of leaks, and everyone doesn't need to go fucking apeshit over it.
Contingency plans or not, this is still putting someone's life at risk for no justifiable reason. There needs to be some kind of reprimand.
Hopefully the government gets there first and relocates him somewhere safe.
G.I. Fox
I want to post this on a site that leans a bit more to the right than Facepunch, so would you mind finding a source that isn't utter shit?

And yet if somebody on the left did this you would have tons of people coming to his defense with things like "Oh he probably didn't mean to out him, he probably had a lapse in thinking" or cite the 1st amendment. I still think what they did was stupid, just that the only reason they are getting bashed is because it's Fox News.

They are extremely biased, and a good bit of their stories are twisted so much it's hard to tell truth from right-wing bullshit. What they've done here is put someone's life at risk. While other news sources may have done the same thing, it's ironic because Fox is always going on this witch-hunt against Al Qaeda, you'd think they'd be a bit smarter with things.
Yea and someone in the government is leaking information that threatens national security, but that's not a big deal. They shouldn't have released any information on him though.
Everyone cries foul at Fox news whilst the White House is actively leaking shit that has far greater potential to cost American lives.
I wonder what free republic thinks about this.
Fuck you FOX, If this man is harmed I hope he sues you to the fullest extent of the law. I hope your network burns down.
i wonder if addictinginfo moralised this hard about wikileaks probably not
This better mean that Fox get's a fucking slap across the face. Fucking conservative idiots. Always fucking everything up.
And his family.
I thought that went without saying. [editline]25th August 2012[/editline]
Or, much more likely, everyone on the right would scream bloody murder that they're a traitor and should be tried for treason and killed.
For anyone else they would, but Fox News is their own personal propaganda outlet, they wouldn't turn against it that easily.
They should just permanently shut down Fox News. I haven't seen a dumber and more idiotic news agency than them.
Isn't this treason?
This idiotic post got 48 agrees. Why might you ask? Because fox news is bad, so anything that is anti fox news is right.
This idiotic post got 48 agrees. Why might you ask? Because fox news is bad, so anything that is anti fox news is right.
actually yes
Am I the only one that feels sorry for any dipshit stupid enough to actually go after the guy? He rode a fucking top secret stealth helicopter to a night raid in hostile territory where he practically kicked the door in and was right there when the most wanted man in the world was shot in the face. I think he's achieved "don't fuck with" status.
Fox released extremely sensitive information which has potentially aided the enemy in bringing harm to US Servicemen and their family. If that's not treason then I don't know what is.
They released the name of someone who wrote a book. Thats not treason.
They released the name of someone who wrote a book. Thats not treason.
"someone who wrote a book" you're not understanding something here

Harry was probably just moved somewhere else. This guy's identity was revealed, meaning he is in danger for the rest of his life, as his information is out there.
They released the name of someone who wrote a book. Thats not treason.
see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_McNab
"someone who wrote a book" you're not understanding something here
Legally that is what they did. There isn't anything saying "if you write a book that puts your life in danger your name has to be protected".
not going to argue - too dense
