I would pull the religion card to get out of those types of things
You fucking :doh:ass. Take a fucking look outside. The state we are in today, with a group of child molesters trying to pull us back to the 14th century while simultaneously being above the law and raping the uneducated for their beliefs and money. That is why it should influence society. That, and the fact that it is holding back scientific progress, many, many, many religious groups look down on and oppose embryonic stem cell research, you know why? Because by opposing it, they gain power with their massive horde of minions, because that shows, 'Oh yeah, science? Well, we're going to sanction your research by having our 43% of America strong group to look down on it.'
Religion should have disappeared a long time ago.
You're referring to Abrahmic religions, there are more than them. Hinduism, Buddhism and Shintoism.
Yes, I'm aware Buddhism is a life style and not a religion, I have a Buddhist aunt.
Also, good job generalizing all of Christianity. Not all Christian groups are bad (most are perfectly fine).
Religion doesn't teach morality
what makes you think that it does
see: Jesus
I see that people are happy that religion get's shitted on in here, I am too, however the real issue here is the ridiculous screening measures they're doing now; you either choose to pose naked or be molested by a big sweaty fat guy.
They should be focusing on ways to secure the plane that don't involve fingering all the passengers. I very highly doubt that all these invasive screening techniques really make us substantially safer.

Besides, any (successful) terrorist attack will inevitably go around the most obvious and most defended path (passenger screening), not through it. It's like worrying that someone will dig through a boulder so you make the boulder tougher rather than defending the paths around the boulder.
Because religion is inherently conservative and conservative societies are stagnant
I couldn't put it any better.
see: Jesus
if that were true then christains would be nicer then other people of other religions also the old books kind makes up for all the nice things jesus did
Recreation? Since when does religion amuse people? Religion shouldn't influence how a country is run, you are correct, and that's the separation of church (well, church in the case of the USA) and state. Religion should be able to influence society, why the heck shouldn't it?
Ok! Let' stone gays, adulterers, disobedient children and anybody that doesn't believe in your version of god! :downs:
