Battlefield 3 Will require Origin, Including Retail copies

As long as Origin doesn't need to be turned on ever again after I download and install Battlefield 3, excluding updates, I won't be complaining.
okay, now I'm mad.
Retail games shouldn't force you to jump through hoops to play
yes this includes Steam as well
This could be really great for Origin. The large fanbase built by all the Battlefield 3 players will certainly encourage many to stay. This would give them a great customer base to build on, ensuring that Origin would be able to beat Steam in time.

Bwahahahahaha fuck EA not buying this bullshit from them, either give me my game or fuck off.
I understand why people are mad, I completely understand why you guys want all your games on one platform, look at me, I have like 600 games and they're all on one platform, I'm no happier than anyone else out there about this since it's kind of splitting the library in different corners but as long as you walk into it telling yourself "only EA exclusives on Origin" it should be fine.

So I guess you won't be buying it then?
Origin isn't that bad guys :l
Yeah, you have to have another program open to play BF3, but does that really make you not want to play the game? I've had Origin installed for a couple months now and I bought BF2 and 2142 when they were on sale for $5 a pop. It really isn't that bad...

I don't mind that if I buy and download the game FROM Origin, but when it's required on the retail version I hate it. It's the same thing with retail games that require Steam, it's annoying.

You're using their download service only for THEIR games so it's not like they're trying to take over the market.
Too many overdramatic fanboys over this Origin crap

Too many overdramatic fanboys over this Origin crap
By there do you mean EA games. In other words I have to go to an unnecessary service everytime I want to play an EA time making it much harder to connect with friends and even harder with online friends. Well hope they don't try to sell other non EA games like steam.
I was hoping retail wouldn't have to do this crap but it looks like i'm SOL.
Oh well, Origin isn't really that bad, and I'm used to not being able to talk to anyone with that punkbuster BS that plagued the previous battlefield games.
If it is required to play I am not going to buy for PC. I know Steam does the same thing but it is far superior than Origin so I don't mind. I don't mind having to run steam in order to play games because I barely notice it. Plus its a easy way to organize my games rather than shortcuts in a folder or on the desktop.
I'll get it for my PS3 and will save my PC upgrade money for another game. I'd honestly rather it be standalone if anything even if that does mean shoddy update service. BF2 did okay that way.
explain to me whats so noticeable about using origins while playing games?
I think this is going to be the first time I'm not going to buy a game because of EA's bullshit.
I already have 120 games on Steam, I'm not going to start to use another DDS for one game.
The main thing is guys...
Atleast it isn't Activision controlling origin
This matters less than the lack of mod tools
I'm no longer paying full price for games that I'll need to spend MORE money on in two months to experience new content
User created content is a staple of PC gaming and has even spread to console gaming with LittleBigPlanet and Infamous. It's not an optional bonus, especially on this platform.
Little Big Planet is actually reasonable
you get a entire game full of shit.
LBP2 takes everything from the first one and adds more to it and actually makes the game what it was intended to be.
The DLC packs are like Free to $9.99 for level kits and Costumes and stuff. it isn't like 15$ mappacks or dumb shit like that.
If you buy the game from a store, or from a CDkey website, you aren't really supporting Origin. If you buy it physically, Origin is barely involved, but you can still use it should you lose your physical copy. Steam doesn't do that for every game.
:suicide:
EA's boat is going down like the titanic.

LBP2 is basically a giant billboard facing PC developers that says "IF WE CAN DO IT HERE, YOU CAN DO IT THERE TOO"
They crafted a way to design entire games using a pad with ~15 buttons, they're damned geniuses
Origin isn't that bad. I activated a few older retail games on it in case I ever lose the discs, I can just redownload it off Origin. It has some not-too-bad sales, and the bullshit about your account being deleted after 2 years is only if you don't have anything on that account at all. Steam has nearly an identical agreement.
I'm not saying it's great, but whoever is not buying it just because of Origin is so ignorant that it's ridiculous.
This.
I myself would much prefer it just be on Steam, but I really don't give a shit in the end, as long as I get to play Battlefield 3.
i wish there were actually good things on the lbp2 community map section, it seems like half the maps are just "save lbp2, pls play my map" and its just a big sponge that says save lbp
Are there official forums somewhere
I'd like to be able to find more good maps too

It's the same damn game whatever distributor you use and you wouldn't even notice Origin except when there was an update or something.
The fanboyism with the people on here is as ridiculous as the Youtube community.
Urrrg, why are you forcing this EA? What's next, you won't offer it on D2D?

On topic, saw it coming from day one, will just buy from retail anyway. I have used Origin for my old EADM games and it seems like a decent program, but I don't trust EA's day one servers after Bad Company 2.
I have STEAM, Impulse, and Gamergate, the first two are absolutely great, but I really don't want a 3rd.
What the fuck EA.
Origin looks like nothing more than drm software than anything. I could careless since it's not really intrusive.

Steam is just the same, if not worse. Both have stores, both can launch games, and both have social functions. However with Steam, most games require Steam to be open to play (although games such as DiRT2 don't require Steam to be running), however games purchased or activated on Origin don't require Origin to be running to play them. BF3 may be an exception, but then again it may only need Origin to update the game.

i was playing LBP2 a few days ago and i was actually watching a whole entire 50 minute movie.
made in lbp.
I didn't think that was even possible.
the rest of the mm picks are either dumb or the same shit all over.
