I guess I'm the only one that doesn't mind not having his games in one program.

I don't want 50 diffrent download services thanks, i'll stick to steam.
I don't want 50 diffrent download services thanks, i'll stick to steam.
But it's just 2. two less than three and more than one
But it's just 2. two less than three and more than one
Well 2 if you don't count the others out there. More and more games these days require its own download client.
Ugh, having to install yet another bit of software just to play a spectacular game gets rather annoying after a while.
I'm just glad how stupid these guys look now. Assuming jerks.
Who gives a fucking shit. Im still gonna buy BF3 from EA's Origin, uninstall Origin, and add BF3 to my games list in Steam. Easy as that. Im so sorry Gia, i guess my opinion is dumb.

omg you dumbass, fucking uninstall it. Or are you not smart enough to do that? If so, don't use a pc and get a console, no shit to install/uninstall there. Right for your IQ level

Who cares. You can uninstall Origin after installing BF3, same with any other game on Origin, I don't understand all the hate.

What clutter are you on about, you can uninstall it the moment you finish installing a game if you don't want it that bad.

Why do you have them? If there is no point, then uninstall them. That way you can install Origin for a brief moment JUST to download BF3.

What's the big fucking problem with installing the Origin client, pre-ordering the game and waiting for the release, installing the game and then uninstalling the client so that you can play your game without any kind of DRM?
I heard you can uninstall Origin after installing the game.
I heard you can uninstall Origin after installing the game.
Well according to new news you can't. Its needed.
Okay, next time I'll read the other four pages too. Edit: Automerge :< Well, that sucks D:
This really surprises me! When has EA ever taken advantage of their customers or lied or bullshitted? I've never seen them be so callous before! This is certainly not the EA I've known for so many years! I am just heartbroken! :downs:
Well, it seemed fine for a while.
"In animal behaviour, thanatosis is the process by which an animal feigns death in order to evade unwelcome attention. It can be for various reasons, such as... a predator trying to lure potential prey closer." I think that's a pretty good explanation of what they were doing for a while.
I don't get the hate against Origin, It's low resource and not intrusive, the only problem is the whole 2 years account thing.
When are people going to stop complaining about that? They've already said multiple times that it's reactivated when you log in after 2 years and they don't delete it.
Origin, you say?
The reason I am buying a retail copy anyway is because I have slow-ass internet. The boxed copy better not just contain an installer for Origin and for me to download it.
Ugh, having to install yet another bit of software just to play a spectacular game gets rather annoying after a while.
This is the thing. What if other companies start doing this? It'll get to the point where you have to install about 5 or 6 digital distributing software and will have to log in to play one game. It'll just get stupid, I think that if you buy a retail copy you shouldn't have too link it up too a distributor to be honest.
Half of the people complaining have probably never even tried origin. Firstly, it's in beta right now, so it has every right to be a little bit glitchy, and secondly, there is nothing wrong with it, I think it's fine.
Well according to new news you can't. Its needed.
oh no a tiny little program must be running to play my game, what ever shall i do!?!?!?
So I guess you won't be buying it then?
I'll buy BF3 when either they drop Origin or give me a 95%-100% discount. Or both. But as of now, I'm not buying it. I'm not even interested about BF3, it looks like another generic FPS with no mod support and a shitty company behind it to me.
EA will totally allow this. :)
And that matters how? As far as I know no game company condones piracy. [editline]12th August 2011[/editline]
It doesn't work like that if you are trying to play online.
I only play the campaign in games like that, so no trouble for me.
it's in beta right now, so it has every right to be a little bit glitchy
Back the fuck up. It's not even finished and you need it to play BF3? Wow.
Back the fuck up. It's not even finished and you need it to play BF3? Wow.
It was required for the BF3 Alpha. It's based off the EADM software anyway. So almost all the functions that is requires are there, the only things that are really being developed still are the DRM aspect and the community functionality. So much angst posting in this thread. It's a extremely lightweight client compared to steam, it really isn't that big a problem to have it installed, as like Steam, it launched when the Alpha was requested to launch by BattleLog, just kill the application when you quit the game or something. You won't have to put up with it/ actually use it at all that way.
Back the fuck up. It's not even finished and you need it to play BF3? Wow.
BF3 isn't even fucking out yet, Origin will no doubt be finished by then. I'm pretty sure Steam was in beta when Hl2 came out. Steam was godawful when HL2 was first released.
I'm not that bothered about Origin having to be running to play the game. I just hope they actually include a proper server browser in game instead of having to have Firefox with battlelog open in order to join servers.
I don't see the problem with this, as long as the game works EA could have someone sit next to me telling me I'm playing the game wrong every 5 minutes.
You can just add the game's .exe and put the game on your gamelist, so that you can enable the Steam overlay while playing any game. Friends, browser, ETC
Nope Punkbuster.
Nope Punkbuster.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the newer versions of punkbuster doesn't kick you for using the steam overlay.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the newer versions of punkbuster doesn't kick you for using the steam overlay.
Oh neat, it always did that before.
How can they have a better service? Obviously by making a better service. If I knew exactly how then I would make my own download service and beat steam. Cheaper prices and community management is one way. [editline]12th August 2011[/editline] Again this isn't doesn't justify EAs use for it. Not to mention the difference between steam and origin is that valve needs steam to update there games right on time, manage game accounts and track items. This isn't the case for origins.
Uhhhhh, for years patches were either released with a game's on client search or with email updates. For fuck's sake a bunch of EA games up to 2009 STILL HAVE that client portion. [editline]12th August 2011[/editline]
Ugh, having to install yet another bit of software just to play a spectacular game gets rather annoying after a while.
WE USED TO DO IT ALL THE TIME.
