There is nothing wrong with that! They're a buisness, its not invasive and its not DRM, not anymore. Hell Origin is starting off with more social features then Steam ever had!
My only criticism on Origin so far is that for some reason I have no clue where to download it from :(
Pretty sure there will be a lot of people downloading Origin just for Battlefield3, and I'm pretty sure beneficially it is a good move for them to have it only on Origin, not by a long shot though. But I don't have the specifics and statistics and shit of course.
Well there are a lot of people who aren't to hyped about it so if they don't see it on steam they might forget about it or not want to go through the trouble. For the battlefield fans of course they will still buy it but for your everyday gamer this might make a difference.

Saying that its a business does not make it ok.
no businesses arent supposed to make money
That doesn't mean they we should have to take it. Sure a business wants to make money but that doesn;t mean you should let them do whatever they want.
I can see the appeal if you have friends on there actually. BF3 will be much more fun with communication. In hindsight that last post was a bit rough due to the exceedingly dumb posts I am putting up with :v:
Have some fun there man. Going to snip that.
That's a pretty big reason why. Most friends of mine do not have good enough computers to run it and play on console instead. I did the same with BC2 as squad gameplay made that game. (for me atleast)
I appreciate your understanding.
I have mixed feelings about Origin. On one hand I don't mind it. It's another program (of many) that just sits there and most of the time I never even see it or launch it. It doesn't have the best way of doing things (eg each update is basically a program reinstall) and still has its bugs.
It's nice that I have a centralized area for what EA games are supported but at the same time I'd prefer they were on Steam. That however is nitpicking and wishful thinking from my own part. But apart from that I have no reason to use it. I consider Steam in many ways (especially with recent features) far superior.
Also, just to show I'm not going HURDURR I USE ORIGIN BUT I DONT REALLY -

What's funny is you can take your steam keys by the way and put them on Origin for a full version of the game. I own BC2 on Steam and DA2 is a friend of mines.

However I do have a few issues albeit a few are more minor fears.
Everyone keeps going back to the whole two year thing and "Valve have it as a clause and so do EA, so what's the difference?"
The difference for me is that I actually felt the wrath of that clause by EA. I hadn't logged on to EADM for over two years and they wiped the account clean. No warning email that it was expiring, just wiped. I tried contacting their support about it (a few times) however they refused to give me the game (BF2) back. It was a case of buy it again or don't ever play it again. When it became available on Steam I bought it again as I knew the odds from it disappearing from Steam are pretty much nil.
This was quite a few years ago when price per gigabyte for HDDs wasn't exactly as cheap as it was today, however considering they only need to keep a single copy of the game on the servers I didn't see and still don't see why they couldn't give me it back. So to anyone that goes "THEY WONT USE IT AND JUST ASK THEM TO REACTIVATE IT"- I do actually have a valid fear of them turning around and going "lolbyegames". Although in this case everyone is now watching them so the likelyhood of them doing this is low.
They updated Origin so I can't grab a screenshot of this but Origin is actually used indirectly to update your games. For BF2142 pre origin update it used to tell me "The latest patch for your game is 1.25!" and it also gave me the option to download said patch. The issue with this is that BF2142 is now on 1.51. and Origin for some reason didn't have the ability to tell this was the case. Why hadn't EA set it so 1.51 was the latest patch? They have a knowledgebase article on how to get the patch (which is really annoying by the way, it involves grabbing it via their FTP site) but otherwise Origin had no clue. Effectively they could release a patch and never announce it (this occured three times with BF2142 with EADM).
Effectively once the Origin "hype" dies down, what's to say EA won't reinvent it yet again (this is what, the third / fourth iteration of EADM now?) and change it all up?
Also, regarding the "VALVE DID IT WITH HL2" issue floating around, Valve had one shot to get it right or risk losing everything. It could have turned out horrible and Valve could have easily went out of business. Luckily for everyone this wasn't the case. EA have been trying to do this for a while now (with mostly negative feedback) so it's not surprising where most peoples loyalties lie. Since 2004 Valve have kept the same general design of Steam (for better or worse) whereas I've said previously to this, EADM has been reinvented many times before this.
Personally I'd like BF3 on Steam and it being on Origin is admittedly making me think twice. If push really comes to shove then I'll buy it on Origin but in the meantime, I'll wait.
Expected, and doesn't even matter. Origin isn't very intrusive, you don't even have to have it running to play games. In fact, it's much less intrusive than steam is. Imagine having to get steam for just ONE game, It would suck.
