Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser is coming Friday

Half of it was complete darkness and the title card animation was pretty shoddily done for a movie of this caliber.
That's just my thoughts on the teaser, it could've been presented a lot better, just doesn't feel as professional as it should've been.
I thought it looked pretty cool. But at the same time, very different from the other movies. It doesn't feel very "Star Wars" :v: Although that may be given, since the movie after all is being directed by a completely different person this time.
It's just a teaser though, I'm not going to draw too many conclusions from it.
V and VI weren't directed by Lucas but were obviously extremely Star Wars-y
JJ isn't trying. Thanks JJ!
He can't direct straight action even when it is CG. Most of the space action in Star Wars was cut pretty straight but the clip at the end there is 1 big confusing camera flip
I fear he's going to cut this movie too much like Star Trek. Lots of confusing, fast paced action. Even dialog scenes have to be fast paced for no good reason.
Concerning the differences with the lightsaber, peraps it is an ~ancient relic~ from the time when lightsabers were less refined?
Was that Stormtrooper played by Denzel Washington?
That crossguard really doesn't make any sense since if it hits on the main blade it'll cut off the guard protrusion when it slides, and vice versa. If the sabers were all on the same lever, like an inverted T, it would at least make some sense, but as it is in the trailer it only serves to impede the wielder.
Seriously where is Kyle Katarn?

I heard that most Expanded Universe stuff is now non-cannon.

Shame considering his storyline was arguably better than the original film's story arc.
Two handed swords use those parts above just the hilt (the part you hold) in combat, and they're called guards, and for good reason. Let me give you an example of how this'd be beneficial on a Lightsaber;

See, Obi-Wan cuts off Greivous's hands by moving his saber down to the hilt and cutting. A guard on the Lightsaber would prevent this action and allow Greivous to fuck Obi-wan's shit up. Along with this, guards have been known to occasionally be used in combat, so we might see this mysterious bad guy hurt someone with that part of the saber.
Opinion time:
It didn't feel very "Star Warsy" for you guys because it's new and extremely modern. For everybody born in the 60s Episodes 1-3 wouldn't have felt "Star Warsy". I think if anything this feels even more "Star Warsy" that 1-3 because what does it look like? They're fighting a fucking war , along with all the emotions that go with it (See: Episode 1 trailer, which is garbage). I LOVED how they showed that first stormtrooper at the beginning and think it's a brilliant move on JJ's part. FINALLY they're showing us that the Stormtroopers were actually human with emotions etc.
"Why does that speder lok like a fucking popsicle"
Uh I dunno maybe because a galaxy far far away has absolutely no idea of the comical and juvenile Earth standards of technology.
The broadsword lightsaber:
Screw you guys, you know lightsabers are very often built by their users, right? Why can he not built it like that, double-bladed sabers weren't introduced until Episode I either, but that was still "new" and shocking. And as for the blade. Well, I think it's even better than the originals. Think about it scientifically. It's made of pure plasma energy, it's not a ruler. It shouldn't be completely 100% straight with a bit of a glow around the edges. It should be rough, tough to control (remember you're achieving something pretty unstable by bringing that beam back into the hilt) and still exhort that glow. Yeah, it looked more fantasy, but this trailer highlighted to me that that's how they should have been all along. Even with reference to the sound, every lightsaber, when custom built will look and sound at least a little differently.
Also, in response to the Tri-hilt. Imagine how easily that guy would win here:

I think it's a smart idea on his part, for situations like that.
Deep voice monologue, Benedict Cumberbatch.
Finally, these models look fucking AMAZING! Well fucking done.
P.S. No Jar-Jar. So far, so good...

Oh yeah. What I wanted to say was, it feels very JJ Abramsy.
(which i kinda think is cool, don't hate)
Also I don't care what y'all say the crusader lightsaber is cool.
The force of Christ awakens.
You guys know they're still editing the movie, right? It's gonna look unpolished till it hits theaters a year from now.
And fuck you, cross saber is best saber.
i love the new stormtroopers. modern and new but still clearly recognizable and familiar-feeling
It's odd how they've updated the Stormtrooper armor yet they still had Tie-Interceptors and Tie-Fighters, especially latter.

Would you care to tell me how you disagree with my post?
in both here and videos section......
I actually liked it. I think it could have done without a voiceover (especially one that cheesy) but besides that I thought it looked pretty good.
it was good, i mean it could have been worse, I don't want a masterpiece, I want them at least not to fuck up and do it right

I'm sure they had plenty left over from the fall of the empire, and while you can replace/upgrade armour, replacing star-fighters is a little bit harder, especially if the Rebellion/New Republic managed to do plenty of damage to the Empire already.
I liked it - reading any opinions on it is scary though people feel way too possessive over this franchise even by fanboy standards. :p
I think the movie will be good solid entertainment like a Star Wars movie should be. Anyone expecting otherwise will be disappointed.

Oh god I'm going to be so angry when people say it's shit after release, I can feel it.
So they're dealing with Imperial remnants. Fucking awesome, no complaints here.
The low flying x-wings. hnng

Really agree with the fact it looks like fantasy.
I don't get this want for a dark brooding Star Wars. The Original Trilogy, even during Empire, was light, colourful and full of twinkle and humour.
That's why I like the first shot of Boyega. He's got a twinkle in his eye that they had in the OT. His expression was almost comical sure, but you could say the same about a lot of Han's.
Fuck you guys, I liked it. It wasn't exactly 100% Star Wars-y but it's just a teaser and it would be foolish to make a full opinion from 88 seconds. The lightsaber guard seems impractical, I kind of hate how they try to reinvent the lightsaber with very weird designs. I don't watch it but the Inquisitor's lightsaber in the SW Rebels is a mess, too. I'm fine with the different lightsaber energy effect (here it looks and sounds more like a lightning bolt) provided the other lightsabers have the classical look. A lot of videogames done it before where you could choose your color but also the beam.
It really felt like a fan boy made it.
Well, JJ Abrams is a big Star Wars Fan.
And we all know what happened the last time a FanBoy got hold of a series he really liked *cough*StarTrekNemisis*cough*
So when we see it in theaters, is it going to say
Episode VII
THE FORCE AWAKENS
On the opening crawl? Or just The Force Awakens?

p. sure it was announced months ago they would be dropping Episode # from the title.
Instead of the lame and ineffective crossguard, I would've gone with a sort of "wave saber" design where the blade proper can actually fluctuate reactively to deflect blades sliding downward. Because at least that would be scifi and you could do some cool CGI effect showing it off.
Also, there are just metals you could build a crossguard or something like it out of. Well, in the non-canon EU at least. Sith used to use physical blades that could cancel out lightsabers, IIRC.
