People are making a lot of assumptions about what happened inside of the house.
Thats the problem. It was only 5 seconds. I would have assumed a cop just drove by and kept on going not pulled into my driveway.
I'm not entirely sure what side I'm on, I'm just a bit skeptical
how can you not wake up from a siren going of right next to your house for like 5 seconds
he got home from 12 hour work shift and was in a deep sleep the siren was coming from the street and was only on for around 7 or 8 seconds and since when did people think that siren = SWAT team is outside and about to raid the house
and since when did people think that siren = SWAT team is outside and about to raid the house
This. It could literally be anything, the only sure way to know is for them to politely announce themselves. The entire video seems really unprofessional, I can't really comment because I am just someone who sits playing video games and posting shit on the internet but it just didn't look like it was being carried out in a proper manner.
how can you not wake up from a siren going of right next to your house for like 5 seconds
So when you hear a siren go by you instantly think "huh, they're coming to my house for some reason". Do you live in the middle of nowhere? Today alone before I was ready to leave my apartment in a hour long period this morning, I heard about 4 sirens go by. If I hadn't been up, I wouldn't have woken up. It's easy to sleep through them, even if they sit by your house for a few seconds. [editline]1st June 2011[/editline] More or less the fact they beat the chick up and took her in for questioning, that's beyond fucked up. What they did to that kid? Even worse. How can anyone support these fucking kind of cops?

I don't think I have ever been woken by sirens either, maybe they are quieter in the UK.

Hell, if I'm gaming, even though I sit next to a window, I can't hear anything with my headphones on, or music going in my apartment, or if my tv's on loud. It's incredibly inconceivable of a point to say that sirens should have told him instantly what the situation was.
law enforcement officers in general are trained to respond with force to people who are armed with weapons.
Misinformed. I suggest you actually read the SOP of any SWAT team/SRU before saying that. They are only trained to respond with deadly force when life is at risk, i.e someone is pointing a lethal weapon towards an officer or a civilian, they don't just bust in and shoot anyone who is holding a weapon. They aren't soldiers. You just said yourself In another post he wasn't aiming at the officers, he was only holding the rifle when they entered. Hence my comment about them probably being a very inexperienced or very poorly funded/trained SWAT team.
Police originally said Guerena fired at officers before they returned fire. They had to revise that statement when it was revealed that the safety on Guerena's gun had not been switched off.
Their original statement was that they had a reason but this shows that they shot him on purpose (with or without the intent of killing him, it doesn't matter) and they're too ashamed to admit it outright. Despicable. This is the point when you try to reason with the person to put their fucking gun down before you shoot them to death. They're the SWAT team, they should know this shit already.
Thing is, the siren wasn't driving down the street, it was right out side.
Lock the asshole that lied up right fucking now. You don't just mistake gunfire, they were blatantly lying to save their ass because they killed an innocent man who was trying to protect his wife and children.
Where is the flashbang? You ram the door down, and then flashbang the room. That way, even if they ARE armed and DO intend to do you harm, you have a chance to subdue them non-lethally. Just half assedly ramming the door down and strolling in is bound to produce situations like this, or worse. EDIT: Also acceptable, and frankly my favorite entry tactic that I've seen performed, is to smash out all the windows and drop like five flashbangs into the house simultaneously.

SWAT 4 penalizes you for shooting someone who hasn't shot back doesn't it? Video games are more morally sound than real life?
Fuck the police. This is really sad.
It's not the SWAT officers' faults. It's the fault of whoever approved of the search. the SWAT members were doing their job. He's an ex-marine. He had a rifle. But his house never should have been broken into in the first place.

It's funny that people like to use that logic, which would work it's way all the way up to the president literally controlling what everybody does, but then say that the government doesn't have too much power.

You don't show up in the party bus unless someone has suggested that this is going to be a potentially dangerous raid.
As soon as I saw the title, I just knew it happened in Arizona. I hate being right sometimes. The only thing that surprises me is that Sheriff Joe wasn't involved. Fuck my state...

The person that ordered it fucked up, but the officers were the ones that fired first and seemingly ignored standard protocol
I wouldn't care if the guy mowed them all down with an M16. That'd be pretty rad.
That would change just about everything.
what ever happened to yelling, POLICE before entering a building? or telling someone to drop their weapon at least once before shooting the ever living crap out of them?
what ever happened to yelling, POLICE before entering a building? or telling someone to drop their weapon at least once before shooting the ever living crap out of them?
They do. The audio on the video just sucks. They are actually screaming "Police, search warrant"
They do. The audio on the video just sucks. They are actually screaming "Police, search warrant"
Ok, well that changes it then. What kind of dumb bitch of a wife hears someone yell POLICE and then tells her husband there's men with guns outside and allows him to confront them with a weapon?
Ok, well that changes it then. What kind of dumb bitch of a wife hears someone yell POLICE and then tells her husband there's men with guns outside and allows him to confront them with a weapon?
how do you know she heard them identify themselves as police?
If she heard them walking around outside then she must have heard them yell POLICE at the top of their lungs, and if the husband was already awake with the gun at that point then he should have heard it.
Also, the fact that the search warrant was on the wrong house is the real factor in why somebody (if not a lot of somebodies) need to lose their job with the reason for termination being "killed an innocent man who has done more to protect the lives of American's than you." ("You" referring to the officers being fired.)
Thing is, the siren wasn't driving down the street, it was right out side.
I've still had one parked in front of my building and not been bothered by it, it's more than possible to imagine someone didn't hear it or didn't think it was their house. When you're fucking scared or reacting to potentially save your life, you're not thinking about these things. The police are in the wrong on this all the way. I still don't see how hearing the siren means anything at all.
Innocence no longer seems to be a protection from the legal system. There needs to be some serious house-cleaning, and fast.
