definitely tinnitus. any ringing in your ear is tinnitus technically, it can be temporary or permanent. but yea it's very common for people to be able to drown out the ringing. my friend can't sleep unless he has a fan going because the tinnitus will bug him.
Same here, I need a fan or the window open to sleep.
There's no such thing as absolute silence. No matter how well you soundproof your house, or how secluded the stretch of woods you're in is, there's always going to be SOMETHING. Creaking wood, wind rustling through leaves, distant cars, etc. There hasn't been a moment in your life when you haven't heard something somewhere. If all of that disappeared, and nothing took its place, I would imagine your brain would start making its own sounds. You would start hearing the normally inaudible sounds of your own body. Your heartbeat would be incredibly loud, and your ears would start ringing. I'd imagine it's not the greatest thing for your mental health. Oh and curing hearing loss is super neat. Good on you, science.
Correct http://www.hindustantimes.com/HTNext/ZanyScience/Why-world-s-most-silent-room-is-scary/Article1-835428.aspx
i hope they get somewhere with this, i live in a state of constant ringing in my left ear. while i don't know if it was caused by loud music, i'm open to trying literally any medical whatever to get rid of it.
I once hopped into bed right after listening to music that was far louder than it should have been through my headset, and noticed a ringing. I never expected to be so scared that I'd develop tinnitus; like I just assumed it would be permanent and I was freaking the fuck out. Then I went to sleep and woke up without, which was crazy relieving.
When I was 9 or 10 (I'm 21 now) I had an infection in both ears and now I have a permanent ringing sound on both, the months after that were a nightmare Wonder if this could fix it or is it strictly sound damage?
I need this. All of this. My hearing is somewhat impaired from all the loud drugs and good metal.
I would really appreciate it if it works on human ears. I have tinnitus in my left ear for over a year now, and I am having trouble hearing conversations properly since then.

Yes please

Shit still sucks, even. Hopefully most forms of tinnitus get cured soon, some days (and especially nights) it's just really bothersome.

Wow, I am the only one of my friends to suffer from tinnitus, and i thought this was pretty rare, but thus topic showed me It isnt as rare as i thought. Guess we should start "ear ringing suffering club"
This could actually work. The journal it was posted to is fairly respected.
I hope it can also fix tinnitus caused by trauma to the head. I had tinnitus before, but after my injury it's gotten a lot worse.
I just hope it works, I want to be able to fucking live my life without hearing a constant loud as fuck ringing.
Tinnitus bros represent.
As a drummer and member of my college's drum line and jazz band, I'm okay with this.
I never get my hopes up with these kind of things, since they usually end up being ChemoToxic
