because it was shite, also cool dark matter.
I was reading the title slightly out of focus so I read a few news threads title at once, merging them together to:
"Baby discovers homosexuals can't enter heaven"
Cool. What kind of technological advances can they make with dark matter?

No. No you didn't. Stop making shit up.
Dark matter still sounds a bit too convenient an explanation as to why our gravity formulas don't work on a large scale, but if they can prove that these WIMPs exist and that they do hold the extreme amount of mass they think they do, I'll start believing them. Until then, I'm saying it's one of the many things about gravity we don't understand yet.
Who wants to bet that in the next few years the same science team will create a resonance cascade and some other bullshit?

I liked it >:-(
So the real life version of black mesa is located in Minnesota
:raise:
I'm fucked since I live a few hours from that place
I wonder if anyone there goes by the name Gordon and has a beard/glasses.
I like the fact that I get to experience the discovery of basic foundations of the universe.

Um no, it's completely possible that there are an infinite amount of other universes.
They say dark energy is the cause for the universe's expansion continuously accelerating.
I think that dark energy is not something contained within this universe, but the outside "nothingness" tugging on the fabric of space.
It's similar to popping a balloon in a vacuum. The gas will continue to expand outwards.
By that logic as the spread of matter becomes more equally distributed the rate of expansion should slow down, which is the opposite of what's happening.

Dont you watch futurama? There's an infinite number of parallel universes stored in boxes.

I can't get over your avatar.
I am reading all your posts in Michio's amazingly awesome voice.

Are people over the age of 12 supposed to get that? Because I've seen that show once, and immediately switched the channel. Not sure what the joke is either.
Anywho, this is quite fascinating. I'm glad that evidence is being found for stuff like this, it's only a matter of time before we actually find it.

This, I always love watching documentaries with Michio in them.
Awesome, now we need to actually find it and then start working on finding dark energy.
Um no, it's completely possible that there are an infinite amount of other universes.
Completely possible in the same way that a race of intelligent taco people are possible, or at least taco-esqe people.

Please let me re-educate you.
Why didn't you just say they discovered evidence for it in the title?
Cool, though. Although I'm not entirely certain what they can do with knowledge of dark matter.

What, you're suddenly telling me what I did and did not do?
I really did read it like that. Stop telling random people off.

Just to point out a little something, dark energy is, in fact, the counter-point to dark matter (and we all know normal matter and energy as interchangeable); as much as something like 65% of the universe's composition is dark energy, while another 30% or so is dark matter.
This breakthrough could lead somewhere...but considering the mysterious nature of dark matter, who knows the fuck where? I guess we shall see. :science:
Cool I guess
Unless it makes my shower shit out gold and sink give me money, I really don't give a damn about some supposed matter/energy that fucks with gravity.
Wait, I thought Black Mesa was in the Southwest somewhere...This has to be Aperture Labs!
Interesting that they've found some evidence for dark matter. From what I've seen/read/heard about astrophysics, it's rumored that dark matter holds the whole universe together.
