Michael Moore: Obama will be remembered as first black president, ‘and that’s it’

Osama dying has to account for something right?
lol at "bush ruined the economy".
No, it was 20 years of unchecked businesses doing whatever they fucking wanted in the name of profit. Something that started under Reagen, something that Bush Sr., Clinton, and Bush Jr. all continued.
Osama dying has to account for something right?
Even that Osama shit seems to be fake still, there's a conspiracy theory that Osama Bin Laden was an undercover US agent that was used for the 9/11 attacks to enter war with Afghanistan or Irak.
I'm sorry for bringing possible bullshit, but not everyone has the same version of the facts around the globe, y'know.
Osama dying has to account for something right?
Not really. We'd been searching for him for ten years, any credit Obama gets for that has to be shared with Bush, and even that's not much because the CIA and DoD are the ones who did all the actual work.

I agree with the sharing credit part, but come on obviously CIA and DoD did the actual work. It is not like Obama was supposed to go to Pakistan and the middle east and search for the guy himself.
Thank Obama for saving our country from a Republican created SECOND GREAT DEPRESSION.
Actually it was a Clinton creation.
How about "That asshole who constantly failed to do anything about privacy invading, out of control intelligence agencies, despite public outcry"?
This may be a shocker to you but invasion of privacy and "out of control intelligence agencies" have been a thing long before Obama was even born.
And it'll remain a thing long after he's dead too.

*gasp* It's like my favourite book, 1984 by George Orwell!
No one could predict it better than Orwell himself.

What the fuck does this have to do with 1984
What the fuck does this have to do with 1984
The privacy invasion thing? Most of that Orwellian world is based on watching every citizen on Earth in their intimacy of their homes and whereabouts. The email/internet scooping is no different than what Orwell described for whatever Big Brother does.
Maybe I'm talking conspiranoically, but it trully looks suspicious.
Better than being remembered for doing bad shit.
In reality how well are we going to remember Clinton, Gore and Bush in 300 years time? And what for?
I'd say Bush will be remembered for starting a pointless long war in the Middle-East that still has repercussions today and will have for years to come.

George Orwell predicted the future about as well as Hanna-Barbera.
It's something weird that I noticed, but in this side of the world we seem to like Obama way more than you do.
Every country in the world likes Obama except America. He's a very charismatic man. Heck, we are dealing with Abbott over here in Aus, who seems much more fitted for the US cause he's so stupidly conservative.
We should do some leader-swap.
Don't hate the president, hate the government. You see how old Obama's looking now? People don't get stressed enough to age like that if they're not trying to do some actual good for the country. He's probably tried to do better but even though he has a limited time running as president, the gov. just stays.
The thing that really bothers me about this is how it's going to affect any presidential candidate that isn't a white man in the future - the responses from people against their favor are going to be pretty ugly.
I think he'll be remembered otherwise. He was president when Osama bin Laden was killed, and when the Gay Rights movement really kicked into high gear.

Because the NSA totally didn't go renegade on everyone's ass
And because THE PRESIDENT obviously has power over EVERYTHING (despite everyone cockblocking him in whatever he does because BLACK DEMOCRAT OBAMACARE TAKE DEM GUNS REPTILIAN COMMIE OVERLORD)

This, in case my post felt like me making fun instead of writing wisely.

orwells book isn't a warning about the future. it was a satire of the then contemporary USSR which heavily resembled the society written about in his book.
in fact 1984 was heavily inspired by an older soviet book written in the 1920s called "we", which in itself was a satire of the early soviet union, when the leaders were trying to do all sorts of crazy mass social experiments
To be fair, Bin laden was caught and killed too, even if not directly by a shirtless fist flinging obama
I got a feeling Moore is right on this one, most things Obama has been trying to do has pretty much gotten buried or overshadowed by bad results that came of it. With everything that keeps happening it feels like he's just trying to make some improvement or change so what Moore says doesn't come true.
Though I believe from a historical standpoint (fifty maybe one hundred years from now) we might see him differently.
I wouldn't call a failed foreign policy a result of a "good diplomat".
Russia is rolling around Ukraine, Iraq is in near complete collapse, all the moderates we decided to throw our cards in with in the Arab Spring have bailed out or turned out to be worse than we thought. Syria crossed the dreaded "red line" and nothing happened. And now ISIS is spreading like a cancer in the middle east and the most we're going to do is drop a few bombs and yell how we did something about it.
[editline]11th September 2014[/editline]
I guess the economy is a bit better, but it's not like Obama himself managed to do that all. But he's definitely leaving office in a world that's more politically unstable both internationally and domestically.
I mean he's a good diplomat in the sense that a cool uncle is a good father. Like he's cool, but he's not into the whole "responsibility" thing.
One could argue Obamacare, but LBJ is not exactly celebrated for the Great Society either.
I'd like to argue against what he says because of all Obama has done, but a lot of his good accomplishments are not that memorable.
Obamacare is only good for the people who live off the government, they wanted my father to pay $700 a month for it while people who have some type of welfare will get it for free or pay very little. Obama is only looking out for the poor and people who live off the system.
Well Bush gets 9/11, war on terror, and economic collapse.
yeah thats what all the facebook posts are telling me too
Obama did not save the country from anything. The market is about to correct/crash. Need proof? Look at the recent investment activities of people like George Soros. You'll notice that all of the big players are moving their money into safer investments, and also moving their money into investments that will make them money when the market corrects/crashes. These people didn't become wealthy by being dumb.
But it's not just Obama's fault. Bush did the same thing. All it's doing is putting off the inevitable. All these stimulus packages (including the 2 under Bush) are nothing but band-aids over the real problem. The recession never ended. We've just been using tax dollars to prop up an over-inflated economy. Nothing more, nothing less.....
Bush didn't "destroy the economy". Bad lending practices and investments destroyed the economy.
His second stimulus package literally was funneling tax money into the stock market to try and prevent it from crashing. It was stealing from the poor and giving to the rich. After the first stimulus attempt (payroll tax cuts) failed to do much, he tried it a different way the next time (propping up the stock market). Obama's stimulus package was the same style as the first failed Bush stimulus package.
So you're saying I need to buy gold?

incorrect, I have yet to ever encounter one ghost that was actually Old Man Jenkins the whole time

oh wait you were talking about The Jetsons weren't you
What the fuck does this have to do with 1984
Because it's about as simple as this:
How to figure out if X topic is related to 1984:
Does X topic involve very vague themes related to lack of privacy or otherwise unfavourable traits in society?
Yes: 1984
No: 1984
Does X topic have any vague similarities with your favourite dystopian sci-fi film? (Mine's Metropolis)
Yes: 1984
No: Are you sure?
Yes: Okay but if you take it out of context does it?*
No: 1984
*
Yes: 1984
No: try another dystopian sci-fi film or pick a new topic to bring up 1984 in.
I think he could be used as an effective example of a presidency that was bogged down by mass amounts of division within the government
and how lack of bipartisanship leads to the absolute fuck-up of the entire system.
Personally I think that Republicans and conservatives themselves aren't bad, but I'm sorry, your representatives could not be more retarded (ex. Ted Cruz, John Boehner, etc.)
[editline]11th September 2014[/editline]
I'd say specifically Tea Partiers, but to be totally honest the entire clusterfuck that is the GOP should share the title of Politically Inept.
Democrats have their idiots too (Dianne Feinstein), but I feel like Republican reps. have been doing the whole stupid-thing for much longer
Clinton played as much of a part , if not a bigger part, in destroying the economy.
People seem to forget that or give him a pass because he had a surplus before Bush stepped into office.

"People who live off the government"
Haha, wanna know something great? People wouldn't have to "live off the government" if they could get a livable wage on average. Minimum wage as it is in this country makes it impossible to live any sort of semi-healthy life style. Middle class people I can see that whole "pay $700" thing hurting, but I honestly doubt your dad is telling you the truth, that's either his total expenses for the month from state income tax, federal income tax, health care and whatever else they take from his wages, and/or your dad is making around $4,000 a month or more, aka $25 an hour with a 40 hour work week. Your average low paying job, lets say it makes $8.25 an hour, which is $0.75 higher than federal minimum wage, will bring in about $1,320 a month before taxes with a 40 hour work week. You cannot realistically live off the amount of money you receive from that job, especially because you won't get a 40 hour work week as these corporations are hiring more part time employees instead of full time because part time employees don't have to have near as many benefits as full time workers do.
So, oh noo, those poor rich people, now they'll have to wait another month to buy that fifth summer beach home instead of buying it next week.

If you think that the right's views on social issues aren't "that bad" I dont know what to say
