US has pressured Britain, Germany, Australia, to charge WikiLeaks editor with espionage

They can't legally touch him because he's not the one who's actively spying. He just collects intel that's given to him by others and releases it.
US can suck a huge dick. :smug: Can't hide yer war crimes.
30-50million civilians died during WW2, that's nearly twice as many military related deaths. You can't have war without extensive civilian deaths. There's even more civilian deaths when you have the enemy blend into the population. Taliban fighters can just lay down their weapons and walk away.
Not saying that some civilian deaths can't be on purpose though. There are a lot of idiots in this world.
The thing that annoys me about this is that how can we know for certain that wikileaks isn't lying it? I know the US government isn't exactly the fountain of truth, but it is wikileaks' word against the US government's and for all we know it is possible that wikileaks could be lying. There is no proof to say that wikileaks really did ask the US Government for help in censoring the documents.
Honestly I would rather trust Wikileaks than the government ANY day. I don't believe Wikileaks is out to get the government they just want to expose the truth.
For a website that puts emphasis on telling the truth, I think Wikileaks wasn't lying.

I would direct you to a thread that has info about that but search is disabled [thank you very much Garry].
Long story short: US quoted a part of the email that had the request in one of their press releases.
Unless actions are actually taken against troops due to the leaks, then I see no problem here.
You're a fucking idiot.
You really really are.
The US army doesn't decapitate enemy combatants, the taliban torture and kill coalition forces, they torture and kill civilians.
Seriously you are so fucking horribly misinformed.
Can't legally touch drug dealers. They're not the ones actively producing the drugs. They just collect it and release it to the public. :smug:
I can only watch with vapid entertainment at how many people are falling for the smear campaign.
Propaganda at it's best.

Leaked US intel files? Sure they're my black tar heroin and they make for great joint rolling paper because your comparison is so dead accurate because the same jurisdictional motives can easily be used to solve entirely different cases?(hint: no)

So true, people always say how bad the insurgents are when we do shit like this daily. Then soldiers complain about how they hate the country and everyone it. Well it's fucking war it's not a tea party during vacation, and you signed up for it. I mean it's not some game.
I respect the hell out of our troops though, I just hate the people that go to war for the wrong reasons.
Atrocities and war go hand in hand and it's a damn shame.
Japan experimenting on POWs, connecting peoples esophagi to their large intestines and watching them die.
What a shame humanity is. This has happened since the human race has been here it's nothing new but it makes me sick.

Hi.
US Army really are scumbags and how dare they fucking pressure the United Kingdom.
Them and us are the closest of friends. So close infact that we are their bitch. They say jump and we say how fucking high. Gtfo.

If Bush were still president, Assange would be in Guantanamo Bay right now being tortured into revealing how he was secretly working for Al Qaeda to destroy democracy and make gay marriages and abortions mandatory.
WikiLeaks is doing something good and bad. On one hand they are letting the public know what the government is doing behind closed doors, ensuring that we could possibly fight back if there is a darker secret that could possibly (and I mean POSSIBLY) make things worse for us. (*cough* Dystopia *cough*) But on the other hand, which is what is happening now, the leaks are mostly military related, which if WikiLeaks fucks up, would result in many soldiers being killed as our enemy would use WikiLeaks against us. I still support the US, but I don't want the government to become something you would find in a dystopia sci-fi novel, to tell the truth.

Lol, I wouldn't put it past Obama either. I can just imagine Obama and his cabinet sitting around trying to come up with ways to incriminate him to make it look like they are the good guys. They are doing a decent job on making WikiLeaks look bad by using the news media as an outlet though.
^^^ Ya they will probably enact some law that forbids classified documents or any potentially damaging documents from being retained for the use against the federal government. They see Wikileaks as the bad guy, as the attacker and it isn't. The government knows they can't let Wikileaks survive and they won't let it, you just wait. They've taken down whistleblower sites before, but because Wikileaks has public support it makes it much harder. Now instead of going against Wikileaks covertly and being sneaky bastards, they are forced to go against it diplomatically...bet that pisses them off.
I think this is all just a load of bollocks, why should the US be high and mighty over things like wars and when the shit hits the fan (like it has now done on WikiLeaks) they just try and bully other nations into siding with them, its disgusting...
On a lighter side, who downloaded insurence.AES256?

Agree and yes. I've uploaded it on a couple of flash drives too. (:
Wikileaks needs to continue operating because there's no other way for us to know about most of the war crimes (or just crimes by the government) being comitted. So if the US government really are doing their job properly they shouldn't have to worry about wikileaks. By wanting to bring wikileaks down clearly shows they are not.
Right now there's not much being done to prevent war crimes and some soldiers feel like they can do anything they want.

This.
Also:
Some of the media is propaganda for the government. "People have/will die", "Badly censored", "They're spies", etc, some is propaganda for wikileaks, and the rest is propaganda by the Taliban. I seriously have seen very few 'facts' in the news recently bout this.
Everybody remember that before making stupid comments.
I like how the US wants Assange to be charged instead of acknowledging what's in those documents and taking steps to prevent things like that from happening again.
Classic American stubbornness.

Uh, the document endangers a lot of people. Even though wiki "removed" most names, a lot are still there.
Publishing such documents in the middle of a conflict isn't the best thing wikileaks has done.

Yeah but the creation of said documents based on the war is stupid to the max. The war that is. Over what, a few drops of oil that extended into Obama's office?
Uh, the document endangers a lot of people.
That has yet to be proven, stop buying into the smear campaign. They started it exactly for this purpose - to distract people from the content of the documents.
Lol at the people suggesting wikileaks should censor the documents
that would sort of defy the entire point of wikileaks.
wikileaks did the right thing
the public deserves to know about the countless war crimes that have been committed and covered up
When the government asks its friends to help it out with something, its horrible.
When a person asks their friend to help them out with something, its okay.
See the double standard here?
Also it is espionage, he is purposely collecting classified information and releasing it with the intent to harm countries. To those who says he has no intents? He knows that anyone can use this information, he is intentionally releasing it even knowing that, good enough as intent for me.

I don't care if what he did was illegal. It was moral, and that's good enough for me.

More like America is too pussy shit to look like the bad guy, that they asked Europe to do it for them.
Kind of like when I ask my maid to clean my carpet.

No they're asking for help, they plan on trying to get him on charges too. He committed a crime by releasing confidential government information. Half of FP is saying good for him because they're fuck the government anyways. Another part is fuck the U.S. in general. No one seems to realize he committed a crime.
