Depends, really, if you're a person who is directly involved with DADT, then yes.
Must...keep insulting...people
Having an aunt explain a law that she experiences means a lot
no it doesn't
his aunt is an idiot who is blindly defending the military
Depends, really, if you're a person who is directly involved with DADT, then yes.
I guess, yeah.
Hey pirate, what's your aunt's position in regards to dadt?
She's saying it's for everyone and keeps sexuality out of the military
bullshit:
If you spent 10 seconds reading the first fucking line of the law, you would know that's bullshit.
you are so obnoxiously ignorant. it's pathetic, really.
hurr, i dont want no queers in the military, but it aint discrimination if i lie about it!
wait what are you seriously implying that i'm homophobic
no it doesn't
his aunt is an idiot who is blindly defending the military
[citation needed]
"i'm gay" "i'm lesbian" "i'm straight" "i'm bisexual" no matter what you said you'd get discharged if the person in charge was doing their job right. you have no idea what you're talking about.
if i walked out of my house right now and punched 20 people in the face, and 13 of them just happened to be gay, that doesn't make me homophobic. by chance, there were more gays than straights in my punching fest, not by design.
give me evidence a person was discharged for saying they're straight.
give me evidence a person was discharged for saying they're straight.
beat you to it :smug:
wait what are you seriously implying that i'm homophobic
you support a pointless homophobic system, so it kinda hints it.
I think the problem with DADT is that people aren't reported for saying they're straight...because well, it's normal and no one is disgusted about it. However, gays are more likely to be reported.
I see how it's an awful law in practice but if what pirate is saying is true, then it isn't that bad in theory

DADT doesn't even fucking apply to heterosexuals
the fucking TITLE of the law proves this wrong
I think the problem with DADT is that people aren't reported for saying they're straight...because well, it's normal and no one is disgusted about it.
so being bisexual or homosexual is NOT normal?
I guess, yeah.
Hey pirate, what's your aunt's position in regards to dadt?
opposes it because she believes having it gone allows stronger bonds to form between soldiers meaning better teamwork, which makes a lot of sense, so i oppose it as well, but from a leadership standpoint it makes sense anyway
[editline]03:10AM[/editline]
DADT doesn't even fucking apply to heterosexuals

don't ask, don't tell
don't ask about sexuality, don't tell about sexuality
so being bisexual or homosexual is NOT normal?
Oh my god, do you really need to nit pick everything I god damn say? You know damn fucking well what I mean.
so being bisexual or homosexual is NOT normal?
homophobia unfortunately still exists widespread. it's normal but you stand a better chance of being reported if you are gay, yes
Why, PLEASE, tell me why, people are always going on and on and on and on and on and on and these stupid arguments never fucking end about war crimes and the such. Stop pleading your case to an internet game forum.
How about this, yes America makes mistakes, yes we have killed civilians in accidents. The Iraq and Afghanistan wars are pointless ever since Saddam and the Taliban got ousted out of power and I, as well as the majority of the American population, say we need to get the fuck out of there even though it's not that simple.
What more do you want? What more do posters like JDK and Clark want? In fact, what can you do about any of this? What can you guys do about the war over there?
DADT doesn't even fucking apply to heterosexuals
the fucking TITLE of the law proves this wrong
I don't see how the title...proves it wrong
Oh my god, do you really need to nit pick everything I god damn say? You know damn fucking well what I mean.
why is it that most of the people that end up on my side get way too angry way too fast and make everyone else on that side look stupid(er)
why is it that most of the people that end up on my side get way too angry way too fast and make everyone else on that side look stupid(er)
because i've plenty of experience with JDK and it's pretty annoying at this point
Ignorance is bliss...why don't some people ever think about these things?
homophobia unfortunately still exists widespread. it's normal but you stand a better chance of being reported if you are gay, yes
probably because the US military is largely conservative (and conservatives generally think that homosexuality is somehow bad)
probably because the US military is largely conservative (and conservatives generally think that homosexuality is somehow bad)
and there you go
dadt itself isn't evil, however it does cause problems in effect
[editline]03:15AM[/editline]
oh by the way jdk and co if i am erring horribly shoot something my way to show me how i'm wrong
i'm serious, i live in texas so everything i know could very easily be pure propaganda

Again, pay the fuck attention, READ the fucking bill:
http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/10/654.html
and
[release]Don't ask, don't tell (DADT) is the common term for the policy restricting the United States military from efforts to discover or reveal closeted gay, lesbian, and bisexual service members or applicants, while barring those who are openly gay, lesbian, or bisexual from military service. The restrictions are mandated by federal law Pub.L. 103-160 (10 U.S.C. § 654). Unless one of the exceptions from 10 U.S.C. § 654(b) applies, the policy prohibits anyone who "demonstrate(s) a propensity or intent to engage in homosexual acts" from serving in the armed forces of the United States, because "it would create an unacceptable risk to the high standards of morale, good order and discipline, and unit cohesion that are the essence of military capability." The act prohibits any homosexual or bisexual person from disclosing his or her sexual orientation or from speaking about any homosexual relationships, including marriages or other familial attributes, while serving in the United States armed forces. As it exists, DADT specifies that the "don't ask" part of the policy indicates that superiors should not initiate investigation of a service member's orientation in the absence of disallowed behaviors, though credible and articulable evidence of homosexual behavior may cause an investigation[/release]
I can't find one person discharged for being heterosexual
however, I found 13,389 people discharged for being LBGT
so being bisexual or homosexual is NOT normal?
Well... it sort of isn't. I'm not saying its a bad thing, just in general you will find more straight people than gays and bisexuals. Saying it's not normal gives off a negative undertone but its true.
dadt itself isn't evil
yes it is
and once again:
show me a case where someone was discharged for expressing hetereosexuality in the military (hint: you'd have to discharge a shitload of people).

because i've plenty of experience with JDK and it's pretty annoying at this point
lol, you of all people

Well at least state your opinion on the rest of it. Yeah that last bit might not make all that sense but it's kinda true.
lol, you of all people
