I hope he's enjoying his vacation. He deserves it.
Well it made sense why they're doing this. They're trying to get gambling legalized in Japan so they have to appear family friendly and wholesome to fight the gambling taboo but the problem is all of their franchises minus PES are absolutely not for kids.
Of course that used to make sense until they made the silent hill and castlevania pachinko machines. Now I have no idea what the hell they're thinking
there blind for greed is making them stupid ( making the Silent Hill and Pachinko machine ) but also how is the gambling deal coming in Japan is it looking for or not so in there favor,.?

He's merely pretending to be gone.
Well it's not uncommon for people who are being terminated from positions like this to get terminal vacation to care for personal stuff and go job hunting. It would explain why the farewell party was held before he left as you generally vacate your desk very shortly after these vacations.
"He's a wolf! Not a dog!"
Del toro recently said they're still working together, and implied it wasn't a movie so maybe it really hasn't ended
What if the whole Konami fiasco is just one really big ruse set by the mastermind, Kojima himself. The Phantom Pain we received was not the true ending to Metal Gear Solid. Instead they are working on a much bigger project. One that could change the face of gaming as we know it!

Silent Hills will literally never happen.
