Yes there needs to be some law broken before they can question you about legal immigration status (although the terms defined in the law are ambiguous) the problem is that they will question anyone they suspect of being illegal. Please, someone define what an illegal looks like. As far as I'm concerned it's racial profiling to stop someone for looking "illegal". It's clear that the only people they are going to question are non-white people. Besides this presumes the person is guilty until proven innocent (which is ass-backwards to the real way US law works).
Canadians are white too, and they can just as easily stand out when stopped by police (the accent, eh).
You can easily learn and use a different accent and dialect, you can't easily de-brown your skin. And why the hell would any Canadian want to go to Arizona
and how do they know if you're an illegal? if you're brown?
Yea, that's pretty much the gist of it.
In a statement issued late Friday, Brewer called Obama's decision "outrageous" but "not surprising."
Usually when you write up an unconstitutional law, knowing it is unconstitutional, you expect that lawsuits will come. So nothing new there.
What if it's found constitutional? (Just asking)
You can easily learn and use a different accent and dialect, you can't easily de-brown your skin. And why the hell would any Canadian want to go to Arizona
Skin whitening is just a matter of expense, it takes time to actually successfully change your default accent. [editline]11:01PM[/editline] Also the question is why anyone would go to Arizona. Arizona is a shithole.
What if it's found constitutional? (Just asking)
then it gets repealed
then it gets repealed
...no, that's not what happens when laws are constitutional. Not at all. [editline]29:99[/editline]
govt is suing over what is already federal law and is not being enforced maybe az should countersue the govt for not enforcing the already federal law
No. No, no, no, no, no. That's not the point. It's federal law that you have to be a citizen or registered to enter the country, not "if you look suspiciously immigrant-like we're gonna have to see your papers." The former is enforced at border crossing, the latter is enforced every time a police officer stops you. [editline]I WONDER IF THIS WILL WORK[/editline]
It's a problem because instead of handling immigration like normal, civilized people, Arizona went completely Nazi.
This too.
...no, that's not what happens when laws are constitutional. Not at all.
I read it wrong I thought it said unconstitutional :downsrim:
except all the issues raised above that make this law entirely ridiculous. or did you miss them
It's a problem because instead of handling immigration like normal, civilized people, Arizona went completely Nazi.
