Only if you take it as so.
Personally I could't give less shit if some airport officials saw my dick when they quickly scanned me for weapons or w/e.
Just because you don't care doesn't mean others won't too.
Those Rapiscallions!
I think that's the kind that shows a "gingerbread man" default image and just pastes markers onto it where problematic things may have been hidden.

Wow, I went through one of these in Florida all the way back in last spring.
I flew a couple times in the past few months and none of the scanners the people maintaining the equipment showed any actual image, just a green background with "OK" on top of it.
Was there another display somewhere I didn't notice?
Or do these types not produce an image like that? (I know the ones in the OP are "Rapiscan")
These are the type of scanners that I went through at Jacksonville Intl Airport. They don't use radiation, but they show a gingerbread man and it puts a yellow dot over any location that seems suspicious. I went through the machine and it said I had something on my right leg, so they searched my whole fucking body, did explosive residue tests on my hands and arms. They also rechecked my bags through xray. I don't even know what the fuck. There wasn't a single thing on me.

The image looks like what the above poster showed:

Yes they do.
They use "millimeter waves" which are not ionizing (read: harmless) but it's still radiation.
Also what the fuck, the scanner had a false positive on the my side and they just patted me specifically there, said "Welp nvm", and let me go.
What a fucking stupid name for a scanner company
Of course everyone read it as "Rape-i-scan" or pronounced it as such
I read it as Rapiscan. As in rapid scan.

xkcd pls stop being so relevant
Wow, maybe the fear is finally subsiding and people are willing to start pushing back against the TSA.
Aren't the gingermen scanners more effective too because shit like guns and knives show up as black on the old scanners, and the background is black too, so if it'd on the side of your body it's invisible? While looking at the gingerbread scanner image, it doesn't seem to have that problem.

I was under the impression that the scanning technology is the same but the gingerbread one just had software analyse the images instead of humans.
I don't see the point of either of them. The airport near me used to have the Rapiscan things, and now has the gingerbread L3 scanners. Not once have I gone through them anyway.
Why? There's a traditional metal detector right next to them...
... what's even more strange, is people were lining up for the gingerbread scanner, but nobody was going through the metal detector. However, there was just some TSA guy standing there, looking really bored, every single time. They'd always just let me through the metal detector because I didn't want to sit there for 10 extra minutes waiting for everyone to try to understand how to stand in a box with your arms out. Nobody said anything, I just went through, he said "you're good", and I went to my gate.
Good job TSA.
What the hell were they thinking when they decided to use a method that involved using ionizing radiation? That could be really bad for any frequent flyers.
Just because you don't care doesn't mean others won't too.
Well, I would care too if I saw any good reason to, not sure where yours lie.. It's simply a non-issue.
To be quite fair, I'd prefer a reliable scan even if I appear naked on the other side as opposed to someone physically groping me to search me if it guaranteed everyone's safety. Right now though, the technology isn't perfect and is simply obtrusive.
How about neither? Why do you need to be groped, scanned, poked, searched, and given the gloved hand if you want to fly on an airplane?
It is literally the only method of transport in which you have to do any of those things.
I completely agree - I was just stating my preference between the two methods.
