Even if it doesn't, you can bet that there will be scores of new lawsuits against the FCC. The real battle is going to be in the courts, as per usual.
I am kind of pessimistic whether the courts could actually do anything about this. As far as I can tell, the FCC absolutely can classify ISPs as Title I entities, because before 2014, that's how they were classified.
I hope this shit falls flat on it's face like every other attempt before it.

I wouldn't count on it

Then do something

I wish it was 2020 already so we could vote these assholes out and actually work towards progress again.
Its been nice seeing any of you guys in the US. We had a long run.
Im actually crying because of all my friends which i will lose access to thanks to this. Sure i am in canada and i have unlimited internet access, but most of them are in the US.
Well the internet was nice while it lasted.
i don't even know what to say
this is just pure, unfiltered greed, nothing more. there is literally no good that will come from repealing net neutrality. the US govt. and the FCC sicken me. i only hope that it'll get shot down (the proposal) or that NN will come back in some form later on.
Welp, it was nice knowing you guys. Thanks Trump Administration.
People say that calling their representatives will somehow solve this, but considering the past year in politics I can't see how that will help.
A million dollars speaks louder than a million voices.
I think the earliest chance to repeal this - because, let's be honest, this is most likely pass - is in 2018 when the democrats hopefully take over the Senate.

good thing for us net neutrality is cut in december 2017*
*unless you mean repealing after it goes through, since by that point the corporations likely will already gain a tight hold on their destruction of net neutrality. Just look at how Amazon prepared by breaking net neutrality and calling it "testing."
I liked Trump at the beginning.
But now this shit is happening - my like for him went down faster than Usain Bolt.

But... why?
But... why?
I'm feeling a "leopards eating peoples' faces party" moment there tbh.
I am curious at what point people finally get fed up and revolt? Or maybe us Americans are doomed to bend over and accept it all.
People are unwilling to realise they're the building blocks of society, and as such are bound to be enslaved, generating most the wealth (which is ~work~) and giving it away to the rich.
Do you think those who have astronomical wealth are actually generating anything significant (basically superhuman) of value ? They're just redistributing money around to grow (and filtering it for themselves), a job that employees should be able to take on easily for the greater good of their own business, after all they're the ones who actually know about their field. Instead if you're unemployed you're treated like dirt, you're at the mercy of the labor market, finding an overworked job to survive, where workers don't get much of a say when there are layoffs, they're treated like a burden despite making the company what it is.
Some people kill themselves when they lose their jobs in today's world. Even Earth is endangered by greed and climate change deniers (more often than not profiting from it).
Universal basic income + an incentivised tiered salary depending on your contributions to society (up until an amply reasonable limit), funded by the now-deceased capital (which is a huge loss to 99% of people) that public entreprises replace (where the generated wealth is redistributed to the benefit of its business and some for the country (UBI (includes the employees' and employer's salary), health services, retirement, etc.). Maybe then there'll be some more equality.
Seems like a compelling alternative to what seems the eternal capitalistic system that's ingrained in our brains from birth, but that's an idea with more arguments i'm forgetting, there's always room for tweaks obviously, but the issue is that nobody is going to give any possible alternatives a try, because what we have works so perfectly well, right ?
Also, it's not like it's an entirely new concept, we already have some form of implementation here, the so-called public services versus private companies, and our public health system works so well compared to the private American one that apparently some people are willing to just take a nice trip over here and get their shit fixed at the same time.
That picture is actually for mobile phone internet in Portugal, it's a list of packages of things that won't count towards the data limit. It's got absolutely nothing to do with paying for actually getting access to those sites and services.

That's also a perfect demonstration of what the internet will be like if Pai gets his way.
I hope the EU laws will block this here

It will still affect us in less direct ways, since a solid bulk of internet is based out of US.
It will still affect us in less direct ways, since a solid bulk of internet is based out of US.
What are the rules around that, or international implications?
Seriously, my hatred for GOP is immense and I'm from the UK, don't know how you guys can cope with these cunts.
I think I'm going to use a VPN from now on, if this actually goes through.
I think I'm going to use a VPN from now on, if this actually goes through.
Ahh, and you'll have to pay out the nose for access to it if the ISPs even allow it at all!
Any of you want to move to my state so we can vote out some of the reps? Some of your states have way more than enough voters. Only need 1 year residence. We also have job openings in this state because everyone loves to live here.
Warning: Most people do not love living here.
Fuck, I hope holland starts spreading out their fiber from just downtown. All I can get here is spectrum which I don't really have any issues with or shitt&t which hasn't even reached half the advertised speed once.
Then do something
This is such an easy thing to do. I just did it for the first time and it's mostly all automatic. All you need to do is introduce yourself and tell them that you support net neutrality and that they need to contact the FCC chairman.
What do you do if your congressmen already are for Net Neutrality and have emailed you they will fight this?
What do you do if your congressmen already are for Net Neutrality and have emailed you they will fight this?
Call them and thank them for supporting it.
Time for you people to grab arms and start a revolution, shiw tese oligarchs that they cant tread on you.
I feel like it really needs to be stressed how anti-American and anti-freedom this is. Without that appeal to the emotion and patriotism, I fear that the public sentiment won't be fierce enough to stop this from happening.
