Exactly why I downgraded to F.F. Chromes Incognito mode actually doubles the monitoring instead of cutting it.
Yeah, they are wanting to temporarly shut down Youtube to "stop the spam." It would last two weeks so they could delete all comments and launch the site as a "clean slate." As of right now it's a rumor but I wouldn't be surprised if they do something.
What toilet paper does your source use to wipe itself
Aren't a lot of these a massive trademark violation
Surely google trademarked the chrome logo
This falls under fair use. They're not putting the chrome logo on IE and claiming it as their own.

Does fair use cover profiting off someone else's trademark

Ah, I misinterpreted that as a much more severe shutdown relating to something besides comments. I was going to say that there was no way Google could be that pants-on-head stupid.
Does fair use cover profiting off someone else's trademark
Yes, because it's not in the same application/industry (i.e. mugs aren't browsers). Remember, chrome logo is just a ™ and not a ®. Plus trademarks laws are a lot more lax than copyright ones.
Also, do you think MS's legal department would have let this fly if it was a trade mark violation?
Incognito mode just makes sure websites don't leave a trace on your computer. Also, right now firefox is actually faster than chrome in a lot of applications and memory management. Chrome, however, is still faster in terms of web responsiveness.
Firefox, for me, still take forever to start up and crashes a lot.

Data mining that all US companies (including microsoft) are possibly subject to.

It shouldn't take more than five seconds for Firefox to open but it does, and always has.

Wouldnt that be suicide? in 2 weeks people would get so desperate they would attempt to find other video hosting services wouldnt they?

You're either using an older version of firefox or it's your computer. Go read a bunch of new benchmarks. Right now Firefox is the best browser out there in terms of overall performance, memory management, security and reliability. Next on the list is the new version of opera that uses chromium and THEN it's chrome itself.
I always found Chrome to launch much faster than Firefox.

I just opened Firefox and it was on v24. It just updated to v25. Not that old of a version. That's awesome that Firefox is the slickest shit since the internet itself but that doesn't keep it from running terribly on my computer. It starts slow, it crashes a ton and personally I don't think it looks as good as Chrome so I keep using Chrome.
I can make a video if you want.

The older versions (pre v20) were slower.

I checked for updates, rebooted and then run both at the same time. Chrome loads faster by 2 seconds.

Did you run FF with add-ons disabled? Because that's how you're supposed to do it when you're benching FF for startup (ie run it in safe mode). This is because FF checks every add-on for updates and compatibility issues before every launch (and updates them if there's one available). Chrome just launches without checking anything.
[editline]20th November 2013[/editline]
Either turn on safe mode in about:config or hold shift.
Microsoft is just butthurt that nobody uses Bing.

Ah I see. I'll try this tomorrow then.

Interesting, I ended up spending a good hour reading about trademark and copyright laws.

Except if you actually read it, Chrome 27 wins almost everything except the startup time test.
I'd wager that if you benchmarked Firefox with extension checking on, even that lead would evaporate.
Firefox starts in 2-3 seconds on my laptop. It's not Firefox that's slow.
It's the same as it was with Apple back in the day.
You only resort to directly attacking your competitors when you know your product is inferior.
Firefox starts in 2-3 seconds on my laptop. It's not Firefox that's slow.
Yeah but if you're using firefox, you're likely going to be using a bunch of the plugins that make it great, and those make it slow.
Chrome seems to be faster when you load it down with plugins, compared to firefox.
Also I stopped using it a while back due to it being unstable/unresponsive, not really sure how it handles right now, but chrome works well enough that I'm not that interested in going back quite yet.
Why can't they just get along. Then shit all over Apple.

That means nothing if you're installing on a 5 year old 5400RPM platter HDD
If file access times are shit then only programs that you use often and are therefore cached in RAM and superfetch and such are ever going to appear responsive

NSA datamine for the interests of the US (and freedom)
Google datamine for profit and the interests of their share holders.
I know everybody has the whole NSA hate thing going on but I think google are just as bad if not worse. I feel safer with my information in the hands of the nsa rather than google and whichever multitude of companies they sell my profile to.
As for what microsoft are doing; petty. Really petty. Windows is the only thing I like from them and thats only because I haven't tried any alternatives yet. Even windows 8 is a mess made for touch screen and totally unintuitive.

That said I do use chrome and google search

Might be some buggered up registry in Windows or something.
Reinstall.

I mean your Windows.

Ideally to either modern Windows or something that isn't Windows.
