Bethesda Says New Vegas Has Shipped 5 Million Units
This is a brilliant game. It's kept me busy playing for a couple weeks now. Although honestly, Bethesda is nothing the way they used to be. I wish those bastards would go back to taking their time in painstakingly producing original games with original content.
I could care less about the engine, or about how buggy it is. All bethesda games are unoptimized and glitchy, but they are also extremely open ended, easily modified and provide hours of entertainment for me. I just wish they'd go back to the way they made games like Morrowind. You can tell they took a lot more time in that game, considering all the unique stuff they made-- all the little notes and side quests and stuff.
I wish there was more of that in New Vegas. There are some notes here and there talking about people gambling their savings away, but they don't actually exist. I wish there was more stuff that jumped out at you and made you actually almost believe that the characters are living in post apocalyptic Las Vegas, which is something they didnt do very well to be honest.
There's not enough big city feel to it, Freeside is large but it is pretty featureless.
Obsidian, not Bethesda. (As has already been said.)
Obsidian is comprised of many of the Devs who made fallout 2 and planescape torment. Obsidian has no control over the engine itself and isn't equipped to write or substantially revamp the old one. If you've played with the toolset, you will see the kind of bullshit they are forced to work with.
That said, Bethesda has now bought out id, a company famous for its engines, and will now presumably be using engines produced by id for their games.
This translates to, at some point, a game designed by Obsidian devs (BADASS game mechanics, shit engines) backed by an id engine (Shit game mechanics, BADASS engines). And then the world will end. Because that much awesome in one location will collapse time and space.

Well said. I just hope Bethesda makes step into a desirable location (in my eyes, atleast) I feel kind of cheated by them, to be honest. The games that made them rich are the very same games they are leaving in the dust with the corporate gaming world.. and its saddening.
good because gamebryo sucks massive balls
lol @ the bandwagon against fallout's engine in this thread. oh facepunch, you so crazeh.
I hated Gamebryo before it was cool :saddowns:
Why people are saying that their NV is full of bugs and crashes?
I have had it for 3 weeks now and i haven't experienced any glitches that disturbs your gameplay and i have only had 2 crashes.
Only good thing about New Vegas is the reloading benches.
And the king, baby.
I'm one of those 5 million :D
In all honesty though it's good fun to play
Cool, now they can afford a new engine and maybe more than one animator!
Wait, they have an animator?
Wait, they have an animator?
Yeah, unfortunately he is a marionette doll. Which explains a lot.

Couldn't agree more.
Actually, he's probably just a dude in a straightjacket. With Parkinson's.
I really want this game. Well, this and Fable 3. Hate having no money.
say what you want but new vegas is probably the best game to come out of 2010 so far
say what you want but new vegas is probably the best game to come out of 2010 so far
Lol no
Lol no
then why have i spent over 50 hours playing the game and still have not had enough
Is it me or is every Fallout game riddled with bugs on release (Yet in the end, they prove to be really good)? This one, F3, and I recall reading somewhere that Fallout 1 and 2 were also prime examples of how to leave tons of bugs in a game.
then why have i spent over 50 hours playing the game and still have not had enough
Yeah, I totally agree. New vegas is the only game Ive spent playing that much. Well, games that I've bought in 2010, which honestly isn't that many.
This is all fine and dandy Bethesda, but where the fuck is my Elder Scrolls V?
We believe Fallout: New Vegas will be the “must buy” title for gamers throughout the holiday season
*black ops
Gameplay > Graphics.
Stop crying, I want Goodfellas, not Avatar.
There's more to the engine than just the graphics.
This is all fine and dandy Bethesda, but where the fuck is my Elder Scrolls V?
Why do you think they purchased Obsidian? Bethesda themselves have said they enjoyed making fallout 3, but want another developer to take over the creation of the fallout series so that they can return to making elder scrolls games.
*black ops
yea sure if you like paying 60 dollars for modern warfare 2 again

also i think i read that TESV will use gamebyro again

Exactly why Cod is fucking retarded. A full game title every single time the company shits out a new theme.

Let's hope the Elder Scrolls game they make will be a big step for RPGs.

autism
seriously though it might be good and all but the best game of 2010? Please.
I'm torn on this. On one hand, yes, it is very fun.
On the other, this game was made by fucking retarded monkeys. The graphics are horrible and unoptimized, the engine is older than my great grandfather, the animations are jerky and unnatural, and it's fucking buggy as hell and crashes constantly. On top of all that the new features seem tacked on, with the iron sights being the most egregiously lazy. And the companion control menu should have been something the first fucking game shipped with.
And yet I'm still playing it.

yes there are bugs but fuck the bugs make it even more a great game
love the game. Spent 66 hours so far on it (I don't have autism by the way hurr hurr) and it manages to integrate the old Fallout feel to the Fallout 3 style. I don't know why people have all those crashes. (my guess is shitty drivers) I've had 3 CTD's so far after 66 hours.
They don't need to do away with Gamebryo completely; though it could use a major overhaul.
my only crashes with NV are due to me fucking up the load order with mods

NO GOD NO, why!
