Title has SSD spelled wrong...
I would put all my games for steam AND Xbox AND CD on that, and many programs, just so I have the ability to go to any computer, play Hl1, Iron Storm, Ut99, Hl2, anything, use opera, etc without having the issue of installing it.
That would be so awesome.
SSDs need a massive price drop, I mean I only have so many kidneys.
How the hell do you fuck up something as simple as the abbreviation for Solid State Drive?
Goddammit SSD's, become a standard already!
Still not going to move to SSDs.
in a few years this will be $100 and everyone who bought one at this price will cry into their wads of cash
This has been said a few years ago (3-5) and the price only dropped by a factor of about 4-5. I still doubt $100 in "a few years", but I really wish for that too.

Get a decent 128 GB SSD and combine it with a 2 TB HDD.
You should anyway not store data (music, movies, games, pictures) on SSD, just programs and the OS since those gain the most of a SSD. That's how I am using my PC right now for several years and it works great.
Why are they so expensive ?
More complicated to manufacture
I like my 2TB RAID 0 array, but this is a very nice price indeed.

good thing i stockpile all my spares
I enjoy watching this video every so often to keep myself pumped for when SSDs become reasonably priced.

Why do we need so much space anyway?

Porn
My 1TB harddrive broke after just a few days. Damn you Lacie!
I got a 80GB SSD. That costed around 500$ when I bought it.
As much as I'd like to have that, I think $1,100 is a little bit out of my price range for a hard drive..
so much memory in the palm of my hand. :O

They should really redo this with newer SSDs and SATA 3. Or a bunch of PCI-E SSD.
Do SSD's have a shorter lifespan than normal HD's ? Depending on the frequency of deleting stuff?

Pure Nerd Porn right there... Mmmmm that's the stuff
Funfact; The first 128mb USB's cost up to $500
My ssd is 0 gb :'(
[sp]I don't have one[/sp]
My Amiga has a 4GB SSD.
It's a compact flash card plugged into an IDE adaptor.
$ 1,110 for that thing. Holy shit.
Which is a reasonable price for an SSD of that size.
So, does it store memory on table salt?

Content that we want, in the palm of our hand. Seriously, TV is unbelievably pointless nowadays, except for live sport and news.

Solid Date Drive
put it in with AMD's new 8-core CPU's and you have a lil' beast
Or put it with an i7 and have a faster more efficient beast.
I don't like OCZ. A lot of their newer SSDs are DOA or fail shortly after purchasing. A lot of cases the read/write times are a lot slower than advertised.
I'll stick with Crucial. My SATA III 120GB Crucial SSD has performed admirably well.
If you can afford one, get it. I can boot my rig in just about 9 seconds, and load times for games are fast. Even get a small boost in FPS.
Give it about five years and 1TB will become standard on computers. Especially considering that in 2000, a standard computer came with 10 gb and today it's standard for computers to have 500 gbs.
