Meh, I have absolutely no problem with this. Could be cool.
Comic book characters generally don't give two dicks about practicality (if it's not their character trait/defining characteristic), it's all about looks. And if anything, Asgardian warriors would likely wear nothing at all, coming to that... the lot responsible for worshiping them respected skill and battle prowess, not invincibility and protection.
or a single bearskin and gain the ability to hulk out on folks, and thus give new life to the word 'Berserker' - which itself comes from bjorn (bear) + serkr (coat) [editline]15th July 2014[/editline]
This... doesn't even fit the mythology. I haven't read the comics but isn't this just staged of the mythology? Nice work Marvel. Nice fucking work.
Mythology and Marvel don't often meet completely.
I never asked for this
I don't know, I kinda like the breastplate. Mostly because breasts.
While the armour is stupid and would likely cause more damage than it'll prevent, the fact that someone female is finally wielding the hammer is sick.
As someone who loves armor of all kinds, it makes me sad even from a technical standpoint that boob armor exists, it's so structurally unsafe. Also is it just me or does the hammer look smaller in that image? I remember it being a huge fucking thing, like twice the size of that.
why is her armour sculpted around her breasts
Most likely accurate, yet illogical reason: Rule of Cool. Logical reason: To keep them supported.
I don't know, I kinda like the breastplate.
Most likely accurate, yet illogical reason: Rule of Cool. Logical reason: To keep them supported.
You wouldn't use armor to support it, you'd use wrappings, or in modern day, a damn sports bra.
why is her armour sculpted around her breasts
To make sure people know she's a girl
the fact that someone female is finally wielding the hammer is sick.
How exactly does this improve the comic or the character? Gender swapping a character is not enough for me to think it will be interesting on its own.
Most likely accurate, yet illogical reason: Rule of Cool. Logical reason: To keep them supported.
"boob armor" is, at best, not much better protection than nothing. At worst it is actually dangerous to the user. There is a reason breastplates are rounded and not flush to the chest: structural integrity.
I mean I know beta ray bill got to be thor for a while and he wasn't even humanoid, but still. Its annoying.
At first I was thinking that this was just some dumb publicity stunt that they shouldn't do, but if Thor got to be an alien horse lizard before being a woman, then I think this is long overdue. It's still a dumb publicity stunt, but that's 90% of what draws people to actually read comic books these days, so it's fine.
Also is it just me or does the hammer look smaller in that image? I remember it being a huge fucking thing, like twice the size of that.
Maybe she's just a big woman? v:v:v The boobplate is dumb, though.

I just don't care because breasts.
Also is it just me or does the hammer look smaller in that image? I remember it being a huge fucking thing, like twice the size of that.
It's quite clearly still in the concept art stages, so it's not going to be totally accurate. That goes for the boob armor too.
I'm not going to defend boob armor, it's fucking stupid. But I will say, had women worn armor as much as men did, I guarantee you the wealthy women would wear armor that had boobcups on them. I mean, wealthy men historically did the equivalent during the Renaissance [t]http://i.imgur.com/EhutfNG.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/m1Haj4b.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/YrYVBjb.jpg[/t]
Tumblr strikes again.
Tumblr strikes again.
Not every act of feminist nature is the result of tumblr. It's just something that society's started pushing.
Why not when you are already at it make Thorman and Thorgirl. I mean isn't there female versions of batman, spiderman and superman too? I don't follow comics or anything so I don't really know.

Nice art, don't see much reason for it though.
Oh no, I understand it's a terrible design choice for plate armor. I just don't care because breasts.
I don't understand the push for sexualising every single woman in the media just go watch porn if you want to ogle tits, dude they're not even real breasts for christ's sake, they're a drawing of molded lumps of metal that imply that breasts exist under them (Even though they're not actually there because it's a drawing!)
How exactly does this improve the comic or the character? Gender swapping a character is not enough for me to think it will be interesting on its own. There is a reason breastplates are rounded and not flush to the chest: structural integrity.
How exactly does this diminish from the comic or the character? We know that Thor dies during Ragnarok. Does Thor dying also mean that Mjolnir is destroyed or lost? Not necessarily. Who can wield Mjolnir? Anyone who is worthy. And how impossible is it that someone female might be deemed worthy? Not fucking at all. Having someone else take up the mantle of Thor seems more interesting than him being resurrected or plucked back from an alternate timeline, and just because it's going to be a she doesn't automatically make it shit. However the armour definitely needs to be fixed. If it stays in it's current state then the comic will likely just be hammer-wielding sex-appeal and thus be terrible.
Tumblr strikes again.
Yes, "Tumblr", the hivemind of radical feminists who want to castrate men and create a worldwide feminarchy (THAT IS DEFINITELY NOT A BLOGGING WEBSITE WITH A VOCAL MINORITY) is literally pointing guns at Marvel's writers to force them to make Thor a Strong Womyn™. Or y'know, women's representation in media (especially as powerful figures) is uncommon and Marvel wants to help out with that. Ignoring that there's also Spidergirl, Batgirl, and She-Hulk for genderswapped versions of Marvel superheroes. Literally the only difference is that male Thor isn't Thor anymore, which isn't a retcon, it's a fucking story aspect. Holy shit dude, grow up.
Eh Thor is going to come back anyway, though just like Beta Ray this character might stick around if she's popular enough with a new Hammer made for her. Which I'm all for.
I think her shattering her sternum with the first attack to hit her armor is a big price to pay to let dudes objectify her tbh http://www.tor.com/blogs/2013/05/boob-plate-armor-would-kill-you
Seeing as she's not real I think she'll be fine.
Boob armor's silly, but so are the usual superhero latex suits, so I don't think that's a big deal in itself. Not sure how this is gonna play out, but remember that the comic book industry is the master of "We're gonna make this really big change and- NEVERMIND IT WAS AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE ALL ALONG ahhh back to business as usual!".
Seeing as she's not real I think she'll be fine.
"It's not real" is a really bad excuse to sexualize another superhero if you want to get a boner while looking at comics, go read a doujin
"It's not real" is a really bad excuse to sexualize another superhero if you want to get a boner while looking at comics, go read a doujin
Breast shaped breastplates don't give me boner but if that's how you roll.
